I was invited to shop the Black Friday event early and it was perfect since I was also given a $200 gift card from Tory Burch. The event was 30% off $250 or more, with some exclusions. Tory Burch has just released the Resort Collection and the theme is Santa Fe/Southwestern. The collection is so bright and vibrant!

I did add a few pieces to my closet. How could I not with the great deal and gift card? You’ve already seen the Oversized Merino Sweater. I was lucky enough to find this Polka Dot Kerrrington in-store, even though it sold out so fast over the Summer. If this Watercolor Kerrington had been in-store I might have chosen it instead.

The Black Friday/Weekend event is still going on, ending Monday. Spend $250 or more and receive 30% off, with code THANKS. One thing to note is Nordstrom is price-matching the 30% off if the item is over $250.

Happy Weekend Shopping!

We are starting to have weather that requires a slight bit of layering. Cool enough for a cardigan in the mornings and evenings and warm enough in the day to go without one. I found this Tory Burch Silk Tie-Neck Blouse on sale at Nordstrom and used some Notes to purchase it. I hadn’t really wanted this blouse originally. I wanted the dress instead but it sold out once it went to sale. I tried it on and found that I really liked it.

It fit well in my normal size 8. I originally wanted the Tile-Print Cotton Sheath Dress but it sold out once it hit sale. The blouse is 100% silk, meeting my current “daily wear” requirement. I like the cap-sleeves on it and the Lisbon print was on several items in the Fall Collection, including this amazing Long Jacquard Vest. I briefly thought about how I could wear it at least twice a week to bring down the CPW on the high price. Not happening. The blouse is a much better fit for my current style.

I had some quick lunch errands to run but I was comfortable the whole day, and was able to take off the cardigan after the weather warmed up in the afternoon. I love Fall in Texas. The sky was really that blue (in the images) that day. And because of the rain we’ve been receiving, the grass is getting green again. The Fig Tree has no idea what’s going on and is producing figs again. You should see a succulent I have. It shot up after our first heavy rain. And, I’ve finally figured out that Mexican Heather needs a lot more water than I was giving it. It has a lot of new growth right now. I’ve even taken an extra Agave Plant root (from the plant in recent Que Bella pics) and replanted it with small success. I might finally be getting my dad’s green thumb!

Have a Great Day!

This is one of my favorite sales during Fall. There so many great pieces to choose from. I’ve seen the Silk Bow Blouse and it’s gorgeous. I would buy that in a heartbeat if I worked in an office. I would throw it on under my Black J Crew Blazer and Trouser Jeans with a Leopard Bootie. The Lidia Polo is a favorite of mine. I have this one in black.

I’ve reviewed the Pleated Silk Shirtdress and Drawstring Tunic Sweater. The Swindon Flats are a cool version of the black flat and probably the one item that is high on my list to purchase. I’ve tried on the Derby Riding Boot in a size 7 in the Brown. It’s a gorgeous color but the calf was too tight for me. The foot is actually pretty long so sizing to a 7 1/2 would make it look too big on me.

Are you looking at anything during the Tory Burch Fall Event?

Tory Burch has come out with a Limited Edition Collection to celebrate the opening of her Paris boutique called The Paris Collection. To launch it, Dianna Agron directed a short Film called L’Américaine (it’s on the front page of the collection). It’s just adorable and the clothes are so beautiful. You must check out the whole collection. Feathers, silk, embellishment; it’s all so gorgeous.

~ Printed Cotton T-Shirt Dress, Medium ~

On to the current Fall Collection though. This dress caught my eye when I was walking through Nordstrom during the Anniversary sale. I didn’t have a chance to try it on at that time so I was excited when I saw it at the Tory Burch boutique. It’s in the Lisbon print which she has out for the Fall Collection. I like this print and the colors that are used with it. The Medium on the dress fit just exactly. I wouldn’t size to a Large though as I want it to be fitted. It’s 100% Cotton but doesn’t feel like a normal tee. It feels thicker. I’m thinking I can transition this dress well into November, in my climate, by adding a chunky cardigan and boots.

The length hits me just above the knee. The print is all-over, including the back.

~ Pleated Silk Shirtdress, Ballet Blue Crystal, size 8 ~
This dress reminds me so much of my beloved Cora Shirtdresses from last year. The hemline is a little different; a little bouncier, which is a nice touch. I saw this print online when the new arrivals came out and new I needed to see it in person. I found this in two prints in-store so I tried them both on, in different sizes. This one is the size 8, which I tried on first. I liked the fit though I though it was a little on the long side in length, for me at least. The shoulders and arms were loose but you can tell the fit is a little on the big side.
The blue is really pretty and it almost looks like some purple is mixed in.
~ Pleated Silk Shirtdress, Red Agate Confetti, size 6 ~
Of course, I didn’t realize the size 8 was too big until I tried on this print in the size 6. This is a much much better fit all over. The shoulders and arms are still fitting well and the hemline has come up a little. And I like this print even more. The pleating is around the neckline and down the button placket, almost like a tuxedo-style.

Flouncy bouncy hem…

There’s one more print that’s not on the Tory Burch website.
I’m excited about these dresses but I think I will be waiting to see if any of these make it to sale before buying. I already have two Cora dresses that I love and Pleated Silk Shirtdress seems a little more “dressy” to me. I think it’s the print. I’ll probably get the Printed Cotton T-Shirt Dress first. It won’t break my heart if I don’t get the other dress.
I hope everyone has a nice long holiday weekend!

I was hoping to have finished my posts so that you wouldn’t notice my brief absence but alas, time got away from me. We took The Boy back to college this week. He’s now in a town-home with some friends and starts classes on Monday. His room is small so we had to figure out how to fit a bed and desk in there with some small drawers for clothes. Yay! for Ikea coming through on everything we needed!

My cousin was in the country with her fiance’ and had a two-day layover in Texas to visit family. She was able to catch up with everyone and see all her aunts, uncles and cousins (new and old). The Boy was also able to see his grand-mother and great-grandmother before heading back to school.

~ Drawstring Tunic Sweater, Small ~

I loved the Boho feel I got when I put on this sweater tunic. The fringe at the arms along with the pattern were so distinctive. The tunic is oversized so the Small fit very well. I am consistently an 8/Medium in Tory Burch so definitely size down one.
I didn’t adjust the drawstring any but should have raised that part up a little to give the top portion some drape. The sweater is a little on the thick side but not too much. It will do well in late October/November as opposed to September.

My only issue with this tunic sweater is the fringe. I think after a year it might be a little dated causing me not to wear it. I don’t think to would do any good to try and remove them as it does help make this very Boho. I’m on the fence about it so I’ve added it to my Wishlist. If it makes it to sale I will have a hard time resisting this purchase.

~ Embroidered Silk Peasant Top, size 8 ~

The silk is pretty sheer on this peasant top. I love the embellishment in the front as well as the detailed embroidery down the sleeves. Unfortunately, the size 8 fit a bit snug in the arms and shoulders. I would need to size to a 10 in this top. The would make the sleeves a little longer than they already are and I might lose the shape I’m seeing in these pics as well.

I felt the tassel tie at the neckline was a little too long and bothersome. I wonder if the tassels could have had that short length but been attached at the neckline with the hook-and-eye closure. Of course, you can always leave it untied and let the tassels hang down.

You can see here the tightness in the arms as well as the pulling at the chest.

But that embroidered detail is so pretty. There’s a tee as well as a tunic with similar embellishment that I will have to consider instead of this Peasant Top
~ Super Skinny Jean, size 29 ~
Lastly, these are the jeans I’ve been wearing in these last two posts. I was surprised at how well these fit in the size 29. I don’t need them and I would probably get a size 30 for a little room if I did. I love my Cropped Skinny Jean and have two pair of them. These have a little fading at the front and they are bunching at my knees so they would need a hem.

I don’t normally think of Tory Burch for denim as there are better brands out there. I like my Cropped Skinny Jeans because they are a dark rinse with no distressing or fading anywhere. Otherwise, I usually go with Pilcro or J Crew for my denim needs.

I’m gathering my Tory Burch wishlist for Fall and the Drawstring Tunic Sweater is definitely on the list.

What do you think of these Tory items?
