The J Crew Factory is running a 50% off everything promo right now both in-stores and online, no code needed. I was able to stop by on Thursday and but only had time to grab what I would buy. The Excursion Vests were only 30% off but that’s more than the normal $5 off I’ve seen in-store.

The Small fit very well on me so I wouldn’t size up to my normal Medium. I felt I could still get a layer under this and be comfortable. Wasn’t this print done as sweater leggings last year in Retail? I don’t recall this as a sweater. The darker color is navy and not black so it would pair with a lot of bottoms in my closet. This is a lovely sweater but this type of Fair Isle is not really my style.

This is big on me in the Medium. I would size down to a Small. I have started to be more consistent with wearing a size Small in Factory sweaters so I should now consider that my “normal” size. I loved this sweater and didn’t notice the elbow patches until I looked it up online. I would lay around all-day Sunday watching football in this sweater.

I have the retail version of this sweater and I don’t see a difference. I have the retail version of this button-down as well and have worn the two together. I don’t regret getting the retail version of the sweater because I wore it quite a bit. The Medium was the better fit, especially with a layer underneath. I definitely would have bought this if I didn’t have last year’s exact version.

This ran a little big through the body so I would size to a Small. I immediately saw me wearing this with the Gold Stripe Mini Skirt (Factory sister) I bought from last year. This should sell well. The material is really soft, almost a cashmere feel. The embroidery is well done as well.

~ Foulard Sweater, Medium ~
This is not online, maybe sold out? I took a pic of the tag but it came out blurry. I loved this sweater and so did a whole lot of other people. There were only 5 left in the whole store. This ran a little small so I’d actually size to a Large.

All of these sweaters were so cozy against bare skin/no layers, especially the Side-Button Sweater and Cheers Sweater.

I”m running a little behind today. I’ll have more reviews later.

Have a Great Day!

I have been wanting to see this dress in person since I first saw the Style Guide Pin. When it arrived online it was during a 25% off promo. The dress in regular sizes was excluded from the promo but the Petite sizes were not excluded. Odd right? Even my VPS thought so. Several other 25% off promos have had the same exclusion.

This dress looked like a cool casual dress. Because of the promo, I ordered the 8 Petite, which had a 33 3/4 inch length. I saw that an measured myself and knew it would be borderline short. The regular length is 36 1/2 inches and the tall is 39 1/4 inches in length, all based on the size 6. That is the size I probably should have ordered in the regular length.

The Petite seems too short, even for my taste. I think it will do well on actual Petite ladies. It looks like it may be the same length as the Jules Dress in Italian Paisley, which I love.
I am a little uncomfortable in this dress. Oddly, I think it’s the length. I can’t raise my arms past my chest unless I want to expose myself. it’s the same way with the Jules in Italian Paisley but since the print seems dressier I carry myself differently. This dress seems so casual. I also can’t figure out what shoes would do well with this dress. The online image has flats and the Pin has high-top sneakers. I do think it looks better with the booties than it does the heels.
In the 8 Petite, it may also be just a little too snug in the chest, after looking at these photos. But I still like it. Every where else, the fit is good. The material feels nice and it’s lined through the body but not the arms. I think adding some leggings would change this to a tunic but what color. I think it would be difficult to match the dress color itself so I would need to pull the burgundy or navy from the collar or sleeves.
So what do you think of the Varsity Dress on me? Should I return it? What color leggings could I incorporate to go with it. Better with the booties or heels or some type of flats?

I have to thank J Crew Guy in Canada, in the comments of this JCA post, for pointing out the Glen Plaid shirt. It was sold out in the Small but I was able to have The Boy’s VPS order it and have it overnighted so I could take it to him this past weekend.
This was my favorite of the three shirts I purchased him and the ONE shirt he did not like. I was so disappointed. But, I had a feeling he might not want it since the glen plaid looks like large stripes across the shirt. Ever since he was little, basically when he could talk coherent sentences, he said he did not like stripes and would not wear any shirt that had any type of stripe on it. Yes, blasphemous to Gigi’s Stripe-Sick ears but since he verbalized it, I made sure there were no stripes in his closet. Even types of plaid he would not wear since they were close to looking like stripes, like this beautiful glen plaid shirt below.

I purchased the blue in store since The Boy looks very nice in blues. The color makes his eyes a beautiful blue-gray. He was hesitant to take it, thinking it was a thick shirt, but Husband convinced him that he’ll use it since his new city gets much colder than home. Once he felt it, he realized it wasn’t very thick at all.

I grabbed this one on a whim while I was in-store. I’m glad I did since the Glen Plaid shirt didn’t work out. All three fit him well, to just a little big, but he prefers his clothes a little looser. He’ll be able to add an under-shirt comfortably.
I also found this tie in-store and love it! The Boy has a couple of other solid shirts that will work well with this tie. And, of course, he has his Ludlow Suit in Worsted Wool {pants, jacket} to wear with the tie. Oddly enough, he liked like this. I think because the Glen Plaid was at a diagonal and there is blue mixed in.

I think he’ll get a lot of use out of the shirts he did keep. He is pledging a Fraternity so he has to dress up for meetings, i.e. – shirt and tie, so more options is always good.
Anything else I should keep an eye on in the men’s section for The Boy?

I try to buy at least one scarf a season and look forward to the Cashmere scarf offerings from the men’s section at J Crew. Last year, I bought the Plaid/Buffalo Check Scarf in Blue/Gray Plaid and the Double-Faced Plaid Scarf. The Boy kept stealing the Double-Faced Plaid Scarf last year, even though the Buffalo Check matched his Navy Peacoat.

You can see a few Que Bellas from last year with both of these scarves {here}. I am glad these are back for this year. I am hoping there is a festive plaid offering this Holiday season.

Have a Great Day!

My search for booties originally started with finding a pair of Blue Booties, in leather or suede. I don’t know why I want blue other than maybe because I haven’t seen them on anyone and they will go well with my Fall clothes. I stopped by Nordstrom because they almost always have what I’m looking for. I didn’t find any but that may have been because I was distracted by these.

~ Newbury Newbuck Booties, Gray, size 7 1/2 ~
I was originally worried when I tried these on that the heel would be too high and uncomfortable but instead the heel was very manageable. The interior is all leather. I tried on a size 7 in the Newbury in Canvas and found them to be a little too snug, even more so with a trouser sock. The 7 1/2 gave me just a little more room to wear a trouser or thin sock.

The J Crew Factory Quinn Booties in Rustic Gray are on the right. You can see how much more of a blue undertone the gray takes.
These are such a splurge but so gorgeous and I know I will wear them every chance I get. I have found when I buy something that’s a little more on the pricey side, I want to get that cost-per-wear down as fast as I can. Quality not quantity, right?

What has been your latest splurge?
