There’s a lot I love in the most recent new arrivals from J Crew. This is a nice roll-out for almost Summer.

I’m always looking for long shorts and the Metallic Foil Bermuda Shorts look great for a date-night option. I saw the Stitch-Down Pleated Mini Skirt in Ivory and it’s very similar to the Pleated Lattice Skirt. I haven’t compared the two but I think there is less stitching on the new skirt.

The Cap-Sleeve Shirtdress really makes me wish I worked in an office more than once every quarter. I would buy it in a heartbeat. My issue with most shirtdresses is that the sleeves are cut way too slim, so cap-sleeve and sleeveless options are best.
The Drapey V-Neck Romper in Dark Cinnamon is a huge love for me. I love this color and think this will be great for daily wear and maybe even for a casual night out at the nearby Food Truck place.
Lastly, I love the Jungle Print and think the best option for me would be the Racer-Back swimsuit. I am in the pool almost every weekend so I need several options to wear throughout the Summer, both bikini and one-piece options.
I am hoping to get to my store’s First Look event tonight and hope some of these items are in-store. What are you liking from the new roll-out that I should consider?

~ Cece Metallic Ballet Flat, Metallic Silver, size 7 ~
I am a huge fan of the Cece Ballet Flat and was happy to see J Crew brought them back. The Emma Ballet Flats were too tight in the toe-box for me and just uncomfortable. I like the Cece’s because they are comfortable, have a slight hidden wedge and the leather ones have held up very well for me. I wore a pair during a really bad rain when we were in NYC and after drying out they weren’t damaged at all.

There was something about these in Metallic Silver that I didn’t quite like. I think in a certain light the silver looked gold. At first I thought I was sent the wrong ones, in Metallic Platinum but I checked the order form and box to be sure.

These do fit TTS, as my size 7 fit perfectly. I ended up returning these as the color really bothered me. I also realized I have several different Metallic Silver shoe options in my closet.

Do you like the Metallic Cece’s?

I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off this morning but wanted to get this post up before I did anything else. I’m hoping this crazy Saturday morning ends with some pool time this afternoon!

~ Sleeveless Drapey Popover, Coral, size 6 ~
The coral is pretty bright though it is a nice color. The size 6 is the best fit on me. This seems to be a recurring item for J Crew as we saw this in the Fall in several colors. I didn’t get any of them then and don’t really have a need for them now, though the Navy would probably be a work-horse for me this Summer. Though it’s polyester, it does have a nice drape and feel.

~ Garden Pant, Bright Indigo, size 8~
This fit just like the one I tried in the Gold Foil Leaf print. Though it looks purple on my screen, this is a very pretty blue, not quite royal or cobalt. I like the Lemonade color in these though I already have a skirt in a bright citrus. This will be a good pant for Summer, especially if you are in a cooler climate as these are lined.

~ Sleeveless Drapey Popover, Navy, size 6 ~

I was not expecting to like the Linen Crossover Wrap Skirt. I have plenty of skirts, especially for Summer and I didn’t know how well the crossover would work; if it opened fully like a true wrap skirt or dress. I usually get a size 6 in mini skirts but this one fit more like the pencil skirt and the size 6 worked very well. The length is 19 inches and hits me just above the knee. I like that the striping is a lighter blue so that you can wear almost any colored top with it. The skirt is also lined, though I can’t recall if it’s poly or cotton.  It’s solid-colored counter part is a Poly blend and I didn’t like it at all. I wish this linen skirt had come in solid colors as I probably would buy every color.

I purchased the Linen Crossover Wrap Skirt and will be wearing it soon. I’m curious what you think of the skirt and Garden Pant in solid.

A new promo has shown up at J Crew. Take 25% off Spring ready styles with YAYMAY. I’d prefer they had left the 30% off or waited a week to do 25% off. These next two items are excluded but one seems to be selling without a promo.

~ Embroidered Linen Top, Caribbean Sea, size 8 ~
I saw this in store and immediately thought 1) Talbots and 2) MamaBella is going to love this. Sorry for the yellow tint, but I couldn’t get a decent picture in the fitting room with the lighting they have. The size 8 was the best fits, so TTS. The wrinkling you see is just from pulling this over my head. There’s a back zipper, exposed, but I don’t recall how much it contrasted with the shirt. I think it was gold but I can’t be sure. I like the embroidery done on the front.
It really does remind of something I would find at Talbots. And, MamaBella called me and wanted me to order this in the Flax color. Two for Two here. Unfortunately, I waited too long to place the order over the weekend and it sold out in her size. I’ve got my VPS on it but I don’t think I’ll get it. I’m stalking the site daily. I ordered the Spearmint for her, hoping she’ll like it once she sees the color.

I know this is supposed to be swingy but I am not used to boxy and short in regards to a trench. The size 8 fit good, but I think I could wear a size 6 or even an 8 Petite. That would mean sizing down one size.

I know I wouldn’t wear this opened like I’m showing below but it just seems to look so big on me. A size down would look a little smaller.

I like the striped lining on the inside. I don’t own a trench as I really don’t have a need for one. I usually go for blazers instead. I don’t know how much use I would get out of a short version of a trench either. But, I do like this and seems like one of the better quality items from J Crew.

I have one more review to finish up for later today involving the Linen Crossover Wrap Skirt in Stripe and then I’ll get to a few Factory reviews.

Have a Great Afternoon!

Up now are some Tropical Frond prints.

~ Ruffle Hem Tank Top, Grey Black, Small ~

I was surprised by the comfort and fit of the tank. I like that the ruffle makes it just a little different than an all grey tank. The size Small fit pretty well but I would like to try the Medium, especially since it may shrink a little. Or at least, I’ll find a way to shrink it.

The size 6 was a little snug around the thighs in the shorts. My normal size 8 would be a better fit. It’s so weird that these are “pull-on” shorts and have elastic in the back of the waist but they also have a hook and zipper in the front. The material is a linen blend and seemed to have a little stretch to them.

…Contrasting cobalt blue piping on the side.

The Drapey Chambray Popover was just “meh” for me. It looked lifeless on me. I think I didn’t like it because it’s a faded color and not darker. Though the size 6 was the best fit I just didn’t get any feeling from it. I don’t think it went well with the pant either so maybe a different bottom would change my mind.

These are pull-on pants and I definitely got a beach-vibe from them. They are a little thick be a cover-up pant for a swimsuit though. The size 6 actually fit quite well. I really am a consistent size 8 on bottom, unless I’m in a skirt, but these were a nice fit through the waist, hip and thighs.

And a rant…Where are they coming up with these inseams? The description says a 25 1/2 inseam so these pants should be cropped on me in this size. But you can see there’s bunching at the bottom. When I was flat-footed, they hit just above the floor for the perfect regular length pant on me.

I really thought this dress was a swim cover-up, until I checked online. There is a Cover-up/Tunic but this is not it. This is shift dress with a little bit of shape to it. I like the sleeves on this dress (which is probably what made me think it was a cover-up). I think the Medium might be a little too big so I’d try the Small to make sure it still fit well and didn’t grab my hips. The material is the Linen/Lyocell blend, which they seem to be loving right now. I would have liked this in a full Linen. I think the Navy background would help hide the wrinkles it would get throughout the day.
Overall, this Tropical Frond print felt a little boring to me. I wonder if I would feel differently if it was released in June. It really does seem very Summer-y to me. If I had to choose one to buy I would probably get the Shift Dress. It is very easy to just throw on and go.

What are your thoughts on the Tropical Frond print?
