J Crew: Ruffle Hem Tank Top, Tropical Frond Pull-on Short, Drapey Chambray Popover, Seaside Pant in Tropical Frond, Tropical Frond Shift Dress

Up now are some Tropical Frond prints.

~ Ruffle Hem Tank Top, Grey Black, Small ~

I was surprised by the comfort and fit of the tank. I like that the ruffle makes it just a little different than an all grey tank. The size Small fit pretty well but I would like to try the Medium, especially since it may shrink a little. Or at least, I’ll find a way to shrink it.

The size 6 was a little snug around the thighs in the shorts. My normal size 8 would be a better fit. It’s so weird that these are “pull-on” shorts and have elastic in the back of the waist but they also have a hook and zipper in the front. The material is a linen blend and seemed to have a little stretch to them.

…Contrasting cobalt blue piping on the side.

The Drapey Chambray Popover was just “meh” for me. It looked lifeless on me. I think I didn’t like it because it’s a faded color and not darker. Though the size 6 was the best fit I just didn’t get any feeling from it. I don’t think it went well with the pant either so maybe a different bottom would change my mind.

These are pull-on pants and I definitely got a beach-vibe from them. They are a little thick be a cover-up pant for a swimsuit though. The size 6 actually fit quite well. I really am a consistent size 8 on bottom, unless I’m in a skirt, but these were a nice fit through the waist, hip and thighs.

And a rant…Where are they coming up with these inseams? The description says a 25 1/2 inseam so these pants should be cropped on me in this size. But you can see there’s bunching at the bottom. When I was flat-footed, they hit just above the floor for the perfect regular length pant on me.

I really thought this dress was a swim cover-up, until I checked online. There is a Cover-up/Tunic but this is not it. This is shift dress with a little bit of shape to it. I like the sleeves on this dress (which is probably what made me think it was a cover-up). I think the Medium might be a little too big so I’d try the Small to make sure it still fit well and didn’t grab my hips. The material is the Linen/Lyocell blend, which they seem to be loving right now. I would have liked this in a full Linen. I think the Navy background would help hide the wrinkles it would get throughout the day.
Overall, this Tropical Frond print felt a little boring to me. I wonder if I would feel differently if it was released in June. It really does seem very Summer-y to me. If I had to choose one to buy I would probably get the Shift Dress. It is very easy to just throw on and go.

Funny, I find the print a bit boring as well but for the opposite reason, it doesn't feel very summery to me. I am not tempted by any of the items that come in this print. Thanks for the reviews!

I forgot to say that the combo tank + shorts look good on you but that's we aid about the hook in the pull-on style. Sometimes they try too hard, I think!

I wanted to change something and deleted the comment! Combo ruffle tank + shorts looks really good on you but that's weird about the hook on the pull-on style!
