The last of my orders were delivered Friday and I wasn’t able to open them until today. I was really excited about one in particular because I ordered, and was promptly Wait-listed for mid-December shipping, the Brompton Hobo in Suede in Tropical Green.

I was very excited that this item shipped on Monday with a delivery date of Friday.

But, this bag and I were not meant to be. I received the Marceau Purse in Faded Woodland instead. Boo J Crew. I am not a happy JCA. I don’t mind the wait-listing and possibly “Sorry…blah blah blah…not going to ship…” email. But to send the wrong item altogether? It’s not like it was missing the tag that has the style number on it to QC with the item number on the actual order.

The Marceau Purse is cute and the color is true to the online pic.

I should consider myself lucky that this hasn’t happened to me more often. This is only the 3rd time in the 5 years I’ve been ordering online from them. Earlier this week an order I received contained this…

Men’s Lambswool Sweater in Heather Harbor
…instead of this.
Women’s Cashmere Tee in Navy

My original wrong item shipped experience was a sale item that kept popping back so I won’t really count that. I eventually found it on ebay instead.

I understand the QC process fails at times but it still leave a bad taste in your mouth, doesn’t it? The customer service reps each time were very nice and apologetic, especially in the case of the purse since it is now wait-listed until January. But there’s no reason to get mad at them. They aren’t in the warehouse processing orders. They are just apologizing for the warehouse processing the orders.

Stay tuned…the last of my reviews are coming up today.

You had to know a review of these were coming. J Crew Mona Oxford Pump

Description from J Crew: Meet Mona, our perfected pump boasting a universally flattering silhouette and a chic round toe. Incredibly comfortable (and supremely versatile), now in fresh spectator-style black and white with oxford-inspired details. Crafted in Italy (of course) and finished with enchanting glitter, this is a pair that’s proving to be completely irresistible. Italian leather and glitter-coated cotton twill upper. Man-made lining and sole. 3 3/4″ self-covered heel.

The first thing I did when I pulled them out of the box was shake them really hard. I wanted to see how well the glitter stayed on the shoe. Only one little spec fell off. I rubbed my finger across the heel and no glitter came off either. I like the spectator detail at the toe and that the back and heel are completely covered with glitter.

I took my normal J Crew size 7 but the right shoe had gaping at the front. The other Mona’s I’ve tried did not do this. The left shoe doesn’t have any gaping but that foot is slightly bigger/wider. Sizing down would be too tight so I may have to use an insert on the right shoe. They were comfortable when I initially tried them on but I can’t determine if they will be comfortable after a few hours of walking and wear.

For now, I’ll keep these. I need to try and style them to see if they really are keepers. I would love to see these in other colors as a spectator-style and without the glitter.

Wynter Sweater in Sequin Stripe

Description from J Crew: Bold rugby stripes get doused in a twinkly mix of big and small sequins for that sporty-sparkly mix that’s a near obsession with our designers. Trimmed at the neck and cuffs in cozy rib, the hint of mohair only adds to its lofty feel (and body-skimming silhouette). Perfectly polished at the office—or the office party—it’s that day-to-night piece to shine in all season long. Acrylic/nylon/wool/mohair in a 5-gauge knit. Three-quarter sleeves. Hits at hip.

So, online the dark stripe looked more black than dark gray to me even though the color was “Carbon”. Even before taking this sweater out of the package I saw that it was gray gray…Disappointment #1. I tried it on and it runs small. This is a “body-skimming silhouette” as the description says. I have on my normal J Crew Medium. The sleeves are right at the wrist, and almost too short…Disappointment #2. As you can see, Disappointment #3 is the sheerness of the carbon stripe. I certainly wasn’t planning on wearing another shirt under this sweater. To wear this slouchy like the online pic I would have to size up two more sizes, to an XL. This is not a keeper and is going back.

See the sweater on Ema in the Clay Blue.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Tinsel Tweed

Description from J Crew: A true design icon—the pencil skirt—meticulously shaped and seamed to figure-flattering perfection (say hello to mile-long legs). Crafted from metallic threaded lace, it delivers just the right amount of seasonal sparkle. We also love it with blouses and blazers for the office. Acrylic/poly/nylon/wool. Pencil skirt shape. Sits at waist. Back zip. Back vent. Fully lined. 23 1/2″ long.

Even though I have the Unagi Tweed Pencil Skirt, I was curious to see the tinsel part of this skirt. I was hoping it might be a good holiday skirt. I purchased my usual size 6 for J Crew pencil skirts. The fit is great, like always, and the color is amazing. But, alas, the skirt just didn’t do it for me. You can see the metallic thread from far away but the close up shot doesn’t show it very well. I don’t see myself wearing this other than for the holidays or special occasions due to the metallic thread so this will go back.

Here are a few OOTDs from last week. This first outfit I loved! I’ve had this belt for years and love it. It can be reversed so the multi-buckles are at the back. The skirt was so comfortable to wear and the weather was nice enough to be cozy but not too warm. Unfortunately, this skirt had a big issue. After I took it off, I noticed the seam where the waistband meets the skirt had come unraveled. There was at least a 5 inch hole in the skirt! The seam was stitched with the same merino wool it’s made out of and apparently any slight tugging or pulling on it made it come undone. I had to return it. If any of you have this skirt just be aware of the stitching. I don’t need anything falling apart for $128. And it’s too bad because I was eyeing the black skirt as well.

One of my favorite shirts from J Crew. I have it in the Almond color as well. It runs big so I was able to size to a small in this. The purple is gorgeous IRL. And of course, my Cece Ballet Flats don’t know what they’ve gotten themselves into. They will be my work-horse flats for most of the Fall and Winter. I’m glad I have multiples!

I wore this to a wedding shower on Saturday. The Bride-to-Be was gorgeous in a Shoshanna dress. My fashionable NYC prima wore the Nanette Lepore Cafe Sheath Dress (see on Chloe here) (LOVE!!!) for her engagement pictures. The Blouson Dress is a favorite dress style of mine. I have the lace in both colors as well as the stripe in black. The Royal Paisley does not disappoint. I was excited to see I have so many cardigan and sweater options for it, including this Jackie in Buttercup…perfect match!

No OOTDs so far for this week. Husband has been home ruining my daily groove but I’ll give him a pass. He’s been sick for 7!!! weeks and now has shingles. Poor hubby. Luckily I’ve had chicken pox and The Boy has been vaccinated for them. But there is no kissing going on ’round here right now. I’m too busy to be sick. Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? I’m busy every weekend starting now but I love this time of year.

Have a Great evening! I’ll be back with more reviews this week from that crazy 25% off sale. I am certainly shopped out. Luckily I’m not into all the Black Friday shopping. I go, but only to be my mom’s chauffeur. I can do a curb-side drop-off and then find a parking spot in BFE and not have anyone complain about how far they have to walk. I also run packages back to the car so our hands are not full of bags. And now that I’m old enough and have my “own” money, I can go eat anytime I want. My brother and I would starve for hours begging to go eat while she was in a zone shopping. Of course, I’m exaggerating…only slightly. Those marathon shopping trips my mom took us on is probably why I like to shop alone. Fun times.
