J Crew Mona Oxford Pumps

You had to know a review of these were coming. J Crew Mona Oxford Pump

Description from J Crew: Meet Mona, our perfected pump boasting a universally flattering silhouette and a chic round toe. Incredibly comfortable (and supremely versatile), now in fresh spectator-style black and white with oxford-inspired details. Crafted in Italy (of course) and finished with enchanting glitter, this is a pair that’s proving to be completely irresistible. Italian leather and glitter-coated cotton twill upper. Man-made lining and sole. 3 3/4″ self-covered heel.

The first thing I did when I pulled them out of the box was shake them really hard. I wanted to see how well the glitter stayed on the shoe. Only one little spec fell off. I rubbed my finger across the heel and no glitter came off either. I like the spectator detail at the toe and that the back and heel are completely covered with glitter.

I took my normal J Crew size 7 but the right shoe had gaping at the front. The other Mona’s I’ve tried did not do this. The left shoe doesn’t have any gaping but that foot is slightly bigger/wider. Sizing down would be too tight so I may have to use an insert on the right shoe. They were comfortable when I initially tried them on but I can’t determine if they will be comfortable after a few hours of walking and wear.

For now, I’ll keep these. I need to try and style them to see if they really are keepers. I would love to see these in other colors as a spectator-style and without the glitter.
What do you think of the Mona Oxford Pumps?

In my opinion the heel looks even higher than on the regular MOna's because of the pattern. I think they look cute… enjoy!

I can't accept the marriage of oxfords & glitter. I really like these shoes except for the glitter. I didn't realize the glitter was on the heel, on the back of it. I *do* think that's nice. Great review!

I have these and love them! I think they are the perfect mix of J. Crew — classic with a fun twist.

I'm with Gigi on this. I love the shoe except for the glitter. This is one year that J. Crew could have taken a pass on being inspired by Miu Miu. Otherwise I think the shoe is very pretty.

These are very cute and they must be fun to wear. The glitter is pretty but I would much prefer leather or even distressed leather so I could wear them outside of the festive season. Where I live people dress pretty conservatively, sequins or glitter would raise a few eyebrows most of the year.

You know me and the love affair I have with Spectators! Love them but would have liked to see patent instead of glitter.

    Hello,
I was wondering what you decided about these? I ordered these in a 6.5 and a 7 (I float between the 2 sizes), and have received the 6.5's, but am unsure when I will receive the 7's. The 6.5s feel like they are a smidgen small. Not uncomfortable, but I don't know how they would feel after a few hours.

Lauren – I ended up returning these heels. The gap at the front wasn't sitting well with me. I, like you, run between a 6 1/2 and 7 and I found the 7 to fit better than the 6 1/2. The 6 1/2 was tight in the toe-box area. I could have dealt with the heel slipping with a heel pad on the 7.

    Hope that helps.
