I was able to find a little extra time on Friday to stop by Loft and try on a few items while the 40% promo/FALLSTYLE was going on. I only tried on a few items from my original list from Friday.

~ Mixprint Shirtdress, Medium Petite ~
The colors on this dress quickly caught my eye, and apparently a whole lot of others as well since there were only two left. An SA was also wearing one. I like the fit of the Medium Petite though I think it’s just a little short on the sides to wear without skinnies or leggings. Maybe it will look find with tall boots. I also like the look of this shirtdress un-belted.
The material is a lightweight cotton and navy and tan are a nice combination for Fall. I could have probably fit into the normal size Small as well. I tend to go for Medium Petite at Loft so I will say this is TTS.

~ Seamed Ponte Pants, Autumn Navy Heather, Medium Petite ~
I grabbed these to try under the Mixprint Shirdress and they look great with it (below). I thought the length was a little long but when I compared it to the regular Small it was shorter. The Small was about two inches longer. These are ponte so they fit very snug but not extremely tight. I like the Navy Heather color. I think I will be able to wear these quite a bit in Fall/Winter.

…with the Mixprint Shirtdress
~ Blocked Poncho Sweater, Ominous Teal, Small Petite ~
I also wanted to try this sweater with the Seamed Ponte Pants. I liked the feel of it on. It’s quite comfortable. It doesn’t have enough coverage for me in front or back to wear with these pants or with leggings. I’d have to stick to jeans for this sweater. The Small Petite was a good fit. It’s meant to be oversized and does have drop-shoulders and slim arms. The sleeves are 3/4 length.

I brought the Mixprint Shirtdress and Seamed Ponte Pants home with me. I really liked both of them separately and together. Loft is also giving you two $25 Loft Cash Cards for every $50 you spend. Those can be used on your full-price purchase starting on Sunday, September 13. The FALLSTYLE sale ends Saturday, September 12.

Have a Great Day!

Tory Burch has come out with a Limited Edition Collection to celebrate the opening of her Paris boutique called The Paris Collection. To launch it, Dianna Agron directed a short Film called L’Américaine (it’s on the front page of the collection). It’s just adorable and the clothes are so beautiful. You must check out the whole collection. Feathers, silk, embellishment; it’s all so gorgeous.

~ Printed Cotton T-Shirt Dress, Medium ~

On to the current Fall Collection though. This dress caught my eye when I was walking through Nordstrom during the Anniversary sale. I didn’t have a chance to try it on at that time so I was excited when I saw it at the Tory Burch boutique. It’s in the Lisbon print which she has out for the Fall Collection. I like this print and the colors that are used with it. The Medium on the dress fit just exactly. I wouldn’t size to a Large though as I want it to be fitted. It’s 100% Cotton but doesn’t feel like a normal tee. It feels thicker. I’m thinking I can transition this dress well into November, in my climate, by adding a chunky cardigan and boots.

The length hits me just above the knee. The print is all-over, including the back.

~ Pleated Silk Shirtdress, Ballet Blue Crystal, size 8 ~
This dress reminds me so much of my beloved Cora Shirtdresses from last year. The hemline is a little different; a little bouncier, which is a nice touch. I saw this print online when the new arrivals came out and new I needed to see it in person. I found this in two prints in-store so I tried them both on, in different sizes. This one is the size 8, which I tried on first. I liked the fit though I though it was a little on the long side in length, for me at least. The shoulders and arms were loose but you can tell the fit is a little on the big side.
The blue is really pretty and it almost looks like some purple is mixed in.
~ Pleated Silk Shirtdress, Red Agate Confetti, size 6 ~
Of course, I didn’t realize the size 8 was too big until I tried on this print in the size 6. This is a much much better fit all over. The shoulders and arms are still fitting well and the hemline has come up a little. And I like this print even more. The pleating is around the neckline and down the button placket, almost like a tuxedo-style.

Flouncy bouncy hem…

There’s one more print that’s not on the Tory Burch website.
I’m excited about these dresses but I think I will be waiting to see if any of these make it to sale before buying. I already have two Cora dresses that I love and Pleated Silk Shirtdress seems a little more “dressy” to me. I think it’s the print. I’ll probably get the Printed Cotton T-Shirt Dress first. It won’t break my heart if I don’t get the other dress.
I hope everyone has a nice long holiday weekend!

Oh boy, I’ve had this post in the hopper for a while. I ordered both of these in early August but other posts took precedence over these. I don’t think I’ll ever catch up on my Que Bella post so I’ll have to start fresh soon.

~ Pilcro Stet Cropped Flare Jeans, size 29 ~

Where’s Blue Booby? Not only did I buy these, I have pictures for you! And you are right BB, these are not flattering on, below the knee, in flats or heels.

I’m 5’2″ and these are not cropped on me at all. I know this though as with all my Pilcro Stets that are “cropped” they are all the right length for a shorty like me. But I don’t see the flare. I see more of a boot-cut on these. And thank goodness the front weren’t as faded as the online image. I love the Pilcro Stet jeans which is why I decided to order them. I should have just stuck with the normal ones. My normal size 29 fit well, at least until the hem.

~ Bailey 44 Maren Midi Dress, Medium Petite ~
Moving on…I did keep this lovely dress. I do think I should have gotten the regular Medium and not Petite. There is an interior skirt than hikes up when I walk. But I feel like a Grecian Goddess when I do walk. I love the drape on this dress and that it’s in Navy is a plus as it’s one of Husband’s favorite colors.
I’d buy this in every color if it was offered. Nordstrom has it in Burgundy but is sold out in my size. The midi part is the back skirt, which I like. It hits just in the middle of my calf. The is a pull-over dress with no zippers or buttons.

I’ve worn this dress several times already, with both these Tory Burch Thora Sandals and my Seville Espadrilles. I’ll throw on my Denim Jacket once it gets cooler.

I forget that Bailey 44 is not an Anthropologie exclusive brand and that it is offered elsewhere.
What do you think of the Bailey 44 Maren Midi Dress?

One more outfit review today from J Crew.

~ Silk Drapey V-Neck Blouse, Dusty Petal, size 8 ~

I’ve been wearing a lot of silk blouses, mostly sleeveless lately, even with the weather so hot. That or cotton but basically any natural fibers. I will be carrying that into the Fall and was hoping this blouse would work too.

The size 8 fit fine, especially in the shoulders and upper arms. It’s a little long in the sleeves. I would consider ordering an 8 Petite to see if that helped with sleeves as well as drape a little better. The little pleat at the neckline is to help with the draping. The material is 100% Silk Crepe de Chin and feels nice against the skin.

I do like the blouse but not in this color, at least against my skin tone. The pink needs to be a little bit darker for me. I rarely wear solid blush pink though I think it looks great with gray. I think I’ll like it better in Navy or Black. It comes in Ivory too.

I mentioned in this post how much I love this Watercolor Floral print. I think it’s because the background is mostly lilac and then has all these other colors, that I would have never thought to put with lilac, splashed around. The online image of this skirt seems to showcase the light aqua blue more than the lilac and that’s the case IRL too.
I was surprised at how well the skirt fit in the size 6. I have other colors in the original version in size 8. I recommend sizing down in this skirt.

The length, at 18 inches, hits me just above the knee. This skirt is a slightly different version of the Pleated Lattice Skirt, adding two tiers. In theory, you would think the tiers would add bulk but because the pleats are so thin, the tiers mostly flat, slimming the whole skirt. Like all the other pleated skirts of this type, the material is Polyester.

I tried to find a top that would compliment the skirt and should have chosen the Navy blouse instead of the Dusty Petal. Also, does anyone remember when the stores used to steam out the wrinkles of the clothes on the floor, especially the nicer ones, i.e. Silk? I think, even if I had liked this color on me I wouldn’t buy it as, at first glance/try-on, it doesn’t look flattering at all because of the wrinkles.

Overall, I like both of these pieces and added the Silk Drapey V-Neck Blouse to my wishlist.

I tried to create outfits for the reviews today but think I missed the mark on the right tops for these skirts. Let’s see how everything looks anyway.

Micropleated Midi Skirt, Navy, size 6 ~

It nice to see the newly named Lattice Skirt in midi length. I knew the length wouldn’t work for me but the colors offered for Fall are gorgeous. Fingers crossed they bring those colors to the Factory in the shorter length next year.

The size 6 fit very well. It even left some comfortable room to tuck in shirts. The length is about 3 inches below my knee and too long for my style. The pleats are the same as the Pleated Lattice Skirt which is nice because I wasn’t a big fan of the Stitched-Down Pleated Mini Skirt. My store only carried the Navy when I was there a few weeks ago so I wasn’t able to see the Pesto or Warm Sepia. Can anyone comment on how saturated those colors are compared to the online images?

~ Tailored Popover Shirt in Stripe, size 6 (now on sale) ~

This was selling out and there was a size 6 and then a 12. I chose the size 6 knowing it would be tight. From the fit, I can tell I need my normal size 8. The size 6 is very snug in the arms and pulls on the sides of the chest.

I’m not sure how “tailored” this shirt really is as it is pretty boxy and loose, especially from the chest down. This also means if I size to an 8 it will be really loose from the chest down. They missed the mark on this one. At least darts should have been added, if they weren’t going to cut the material with a slightly defined waist.

~ Zip-Front Pencil Skirt in Sparkle Tweed, size 6 ~

I don’t like my pencil skirts to be loose on me. I would prefer they fit as close to the body as possible and I can then do a little Spanx-ing to accommodate the bulges and imperfections. I bought a size 8 pencil skirt in wool once and when I wore it the zipper wound up in front instead of the back. That’s why I usually try on a size 6 in pencil skirts and buy a 6 if an 8 Petite is not available. I find a pencil skirt is one of the most flattering styles than anyone can wear. Sadly, I rarely wear them. I just don’t have a work-need to wear them. So I’ve whittled them down and only have a few now; my most favorite ones and all J Crew.
This skirt is metallic and tweedy and has a front zipper you can keep fully zipped or un-zippped at the bottom to show a little more leg, my preference. I can see this being an option for an upcoming event or Holiday party. The size 6 is a good fit but the length, at 25 inches, is a little long for my style. Good thing this also comes in Petite sizing! I would buy an 8 Petite to shorten the length.
Where the zipper starts at the bottom is actually my preferred skirt length, just above the knee.

~ Cap-Sleeve Floral Lace Top, Bright Ocean, size 6 (now on sale) ~

I’ve been wavering back-and-forth on this top as to whether I like this top or not. The size 6 fit fine, though it does look like it’s pulling across the chest a little. The blouse doesn’t have a lining and is completely see-through so a Cami will be needed. The Bright Ocean color is nice and saturated but I think I would get this in Navy Black instead. There’s a little button at the top of the neckline if you want to fully close it. The lace is nice. It’s sturdy and not delicate. It’s made of Poly and states to hand-wash. Meh…
I think I’m bothered by the boxy fit. I tried tucking this in and it makes me look like I have a really short torso, when I’m really pretty average. I don’t think this top can be saved, even with jeans. But I’m also in the dislike category as this top has a 5-star rating at J Crew.

Overall, these are all a pass for me though I do recommend the Micropleated Midi Skirt. If the length was right for me I would buy it.

Have a Great Day!
