Hope you’re having a great week! I’m on “stay-cation” and I’ve been super-busy. I’ll need a real vacation when I’m done. I haven’t stopped moving. Just this morning I drove 75 miles in my truck taking The Boy to Driver’s Ed, picking up a friend and dropping her off at my house, picking up The Boy and dropping him off at his strength and conditioning work-out, running errands while he’s doing that and then picking him up and going home. I am exhausted and it’s pretty much non-stop the rest of the week. It’s my birthday on Thursday and we’ll be going to my favorite restaurant with my whole (immediate) family. My brother is visiting from Singapore and my other brother and his family will be joining us as well. Then, on Saturday, we’ll have a birthday/hello-goodbye Brother/4th of July party. We try to have our 4th party on the Saturday before just so people are not travelling home so late on the 4th. Especially if they have to work the next day, which is the case this year.
Have a great day!

Here are some recent OOTDs.

Loving the Perfect Linen shirts from J Crew. I am taking a 6 in all of them even though my normal size in the perfect shirts is an 8. The Summerweight Bermuda Shorts are my all-time favorite shorts. With the newer styles I take a size 8. The Look Through Wedges had an accident the day I wore these. A piece of wood chipped off! From the front! I think if I dirty that spot up a little it will blend in with the rest of the shoe. This was only the second time to wear them so I am quite disappointed.

Shirt: J Crew Perfect Linen Shirt in Navy, 6
Shorts: J Crew Summerweight Bermuda Shorts (’08) (similar), 6

Looking at this picture I think the tee might be the crewneck not v-neck. Either way it is the Vintage Cotton Tee which are another yearly staple for me. The Apothecary skirt has been one of my favorites and I love all the colors through-out it. The shoes were just a bad purchase. They fit weird and the back strap falls down a lot, even though it’s buckled on the last hole. There are just some shoes not meant for “Shoes-day”.

Tee: J Crew Vintage Cotton V-Neck, OPA Orange ?, M

Another new staple in my summer wardrobe has been linen tees. I have a few from J Crew, which are quite see through. I recommend a tank top underneath. The ones from Zara are thin as well but can be worn without a tank underneath. I love this purple and it goes well with the purple in the Waterlily Floral Soiree Skirt. This skirt, in both colors, has been another happy purchase. Like the Apothecary skirt, there are so many colors in both skirts that sometimes it is hard to pick a top to wear with it. I think I will have brought the CPW of these Tory Burch flip-flops down to mere pennies by the end of the summer.

Tee: Zara Linen T-Shirt, Dark Magenta, S
Skirt: J Crew Soiree Skirt inWaterlily Floral, 6 (in-store sale $59.99)

I have been trying to wear skirts and dresses this summer. They are just so quick and easy to wear and if you find some like the ones above, with many colors in them, you’ll have endless options to pair with them.

Have a great day!

Sorry I’ve been MIA. Sometimes the work-life balance leans a little too much to the work side. But I have been getting dressed so here are some outfits I wore recently.

Tank: J Crew Perfect Fit Folded Flower Tank in Faded Cobblestone
Skirt: J Crew Surf Tweed Charter Skirt
Shoes: Steve Madden Trouser in Grey Leather
Lunch with The Boy and Husband – Husband HATED this outfit. He kept saying, “It doesn’t match. It doesn’t match. It doesn’t look good.” Coming from the man who’s main closet staple is navy shirts.
Top: J Crew Indigo Floral Blouse
Shorts: J Crew Jakarta Shorts
Shoes: Steve Madden Trouser

Working at home – Not sure if the tee really works but I didn’t go out in public so no matter.

Tee: J Crew Vintage Cotton V-Neck in aqua blue
Skirt: J Crew Surf Tweed Charter Skirt
Shoes: Steve Madden Trouser
Belt: J Crew Leather Skinny Belt in Grey

I wore this to take The Boy to get his high school (eek!) ID.

Movie Night: Saw THE OTHER GUYS – The Boy was dying to see this and it was funny. I couldn’t get over Mark Wahlberg’s hair. It was a little too full. It bugged me. The theater we went to showed clips of “Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch” and old Will Ferrell SNL skits. The “Marky Mark” stuff was really funny to see. I told The Boy he was probably one of the first to wear his “pants on the ground” and was “The Situation” before “The Situation”.
Top: J Crew Silk Tiered Ruffle Cami
Jeans: GAP Distressed Boyfriend
Shoes: Steve Madden Trouser
Necklace: J Crew (in-store only)
So, you’ll notice a recurring item. I’ve been wearing these shoes every chance I get. Probably not the best choice when it’s 100 + degrees outside but I really like them.
Steve Madden Trouser in Grey Leather – They also come in Black, Brown and Navy Leather and Black Patent. The Grey is a nice neutral. They do come with laces but are comfortable without as well. I’ve been looking for a pair of oxfords-sans laces- for a while and found these at a reasonable price ($69.99). Once fall really hits I’m sure these will be my go-to shoe.

Have a great weekend!
