Oxford Ballet Flats – “Borrowed from the boys…” (How many more times can we hear this from J Crew?)
I love the oxford/spectator look. I currently have an obsession with these and these that came out years ago from Miu Miu. I had a pair in my possession a few months ago (yay ebay) but I couldn’t bear the pain of walking in them for more than 10 minutes because they were too small.

After seeing these online originally I thought three things:
1) I need these. – I now have these.
2) They will sell out quickly. – Now currently expected to ship 5/30/11.
3) My store will not get these. – They did because I bought them.
I saw these in the B&M last week but not in my size. Depending on the shoe, not just the brand, I can wear a 6 1/2 or 7. And I already knew they would not ship until May (hopefully sooner) if I ordered them online. Friday, I stopped by to return the Lockwood Hobo and walked around to see if they had anything new. I saw the shoes and just took another quick glance at the sizes. Size 7 was staring back at me with a label that said “Display”. The SA was kind enough to search for them while I tried on the 6 1/2 that was also there (a little too tight).
They run TTS for J Crew shoes. I am consistently a 7 in their shoes but had been able to comfortably fit into a 6 1/2 in their flats because they weren’t cushioned. Now that they are padded, the 7 is a better fit. Both the toe and heel are black leather and the body of the shoe is white. The sole is rubber but that just makes it more flexible. The website says something about “removing the shank making them supremely flexible”. My store (San Antonio – La Cantera) had all sizes (except 7) in-store if you are interested in them.
I cannot wait to wear them.
Happy Shoes-Day!

The Lockwood Hobo comes in four colors…Masala Chai, Mineral Green, Black and Soft Sandalwood. According to J Crew, it is their “..signature (and most sought-after) bag for Spring. With a less-is-more, minimalist feel in buttery soft leather…”.
OK…Minimalist…check…Buttery soft leather…check…Most sought-after…maybe not so much. At least not like the Bisbee in Summer Hyacinth (or any of the colors).

I thought the Mineral Green color would be great for Spring. The Soft Sandalwood looks pretty but it seems like it would get dirty pretty easily and I would be so sad if it got even a smidge of dirt on it.

The bag arrived yesterday and I must tell you I was under-whelmed. I didn’t have that “feeling” I get when I love and want to keep a bag forever. Maybe I’m holding all new bags to a higher standard of “that feeling” due to the Bisbee.

The color is a light minty green, but not quite pastel. The leather is buttery soft. The handle is twisted and it has a main storage compartment which is only closed by the brass turn-lock closure. There is an additional zipper pocket the width and height of the bag. Of course, there is an interior zipper pocket and two additional pockets for cell phone/key storage.

There is no hard bottom so the bag was really slouchy/droopy when I removed all the inside paper.

(My outfit yesterday was just jeans and my Lucky Tie-Dye Embroidered Tunic I’ve had for a few years.)

So, what do you think? I am pretty sure I am going to return it. For full price I really should LOVE it.

Not only did I have a reward card burning a hole in my pocket but also a J Crew gift card. I’ve done a major closet clean-out and am now only (trying) to buy items I will know I will wear. I’m really trying to create 3 outfits in my mind when considering buying an item. I’m not consistent with that process yet but I’m getting there.

Rainy Day Utility Jacket in Forest- Size 6 – $188 sale $99.99 – My PS put this in the fitting room for me. I didn’t care for it but it has a hood, fleece lining and a drawstring waist.

Utility Shirtdress – #39623 – Size M – This has a belt, 3/4 sleeves and mandarin collar. It was a little snug for me in the shoulders and upper arms. I’m not in need of a casual dress

No. 2 Pencil Skirt – Citron – Size 6 – I love J Crew pencil skirts and I know this specific color has been loved by many but, unfortunately, I was not one of them. I think it’s the fabric. Or the fact that I would have to alter the hem and I don’t think that the color is for me. The color is more saturated IRL than compared to the online pic. This fit TTS for me.

Floral Tulle Mini – Size 8 – $110 sale $59.99 – This came out a few weeks ago and is already on sale although the website still shows the regular price. I thought it was cute when it came out but I already have too many dresses and skirts for “just that special occasion” that I have not worn or rarely wear. It is a bubble hem but it’s very minimal.
Vintage Cotton Raglan Tee – Size M – $39.50 currently 20% off $31.60 – Good fit…TTS for me

Lunette Mini in Dark Beechwood – Size 8 – This is a cotton sateen and J Crew describes this as a lantern silhouette. It’s tulip to me. The front and back are the same. I like the fit of the 8 because it give a little more length. I prefer the navy color and can’t wait to wear it through the spring and summer!

Dark Navy – Size 6

Camp Pocket Cardigan in Smoldering Brick – Size Medium – $88 Sale $49.99 – Good fit and the pockets are/seem silk but I don’t like that they are right on the girls.
Silk Pocket Tank in Wave Crest – Size 6 – $68 – Not a big fan of this. It’s a little snug in the chest for me.

Hope these pics and comments help.

I realize now I have been wearing a uniform since last week…button down shirt, sweater, ankle toothpick jeans and boots. I’ll throw on a blazer if it’s a little chilly and I have to run to the store. I have two pair if the jeans and I do everything but sleep in them. Absolutely love them.

Here are yesterday and today’s outfit. I even did similar plaid shirts. I’m so predictable sometimes.

All items J Crew
Factory Eden Blazer in Plum
Anthro Pebbled & Primped Boots

All items J Crew
Saturday Sweater in Marled Bronzed Avocado (Sz Small)
Short Chalet Boots in Desert Brown

Sommers Plaid Perfect Shirt – Size 8 – Again, I have to accommodate my shoulders and upper arms so I always wear an 8 in the Perfect Shirts. This has some pretty colors in it and I have many sweaters and cardigans to wear with it.

Saturday Sweater – This is very soft and runs big. I normally wear a Medium to accommodate my shoulders and upper arms but the small was loose and slouchy and soft (I said that right?). The Marled Pulp Alabaster looks more like a Citron or bright yellow and not so pastel or light like the online pic. I may order the Marled Bluegrass. The color looks so pretty.

Have a great evening. I’ll have some more J Crew reviews tomorrow.

I literally ran in to J Crew on Thursday to grab a birthday present for my mom and glanced at all the new arrivals for Spring. I was able to immediately find a great pearl necklace for her with a stone design attached. I wish I had taken a pic. Here are a few things I found.

Ripple Stripe Pencil Skirt – Black – Sz 6
Fits TTS

Vintage Slub Striped Tee –  Sz M
Normally I wear a Medium in JC Tees but I am exchanging this for a Small. It seems to run a little big. See it on Ema here and AppGal here.

Candy Plaid Perfect Shirt – Green Moss – Size 8
Such a pretty green plaid. I always get an 8 due to the perfect shirts being a little snug in the shoulders and arms for me.

Metal Herringbone Schoolboy Blazer (on receipt) – Sz 6
Fits TTS

Close-up of the material/pattern (w/o flash)
And today’s OOTD…
Sweater: JC Cashmere V-Neck
Shirt: JC Candy Plaid Perfect Shirt (from above)
Jeans: JC Ankle Stretch Toothpick in Cherish Wash – This is the lighter wash of the Ankle Stretch Toothpick.
Shoes – GAP City Flat in Patent Olive Green! New colors in patent are so cute! I have several colors and can wear with a 7 or 7 1/2 without issue.

Have a great evening! I have some pics from Anthro try-ons I am just trying to find the time to get them organized.
