During my visit last week for my new hat, I saw the cutest skirt in the sweetest mint color. But I didn’t have time to try it on so I emailed my PS to hold it for me. I dropped by today and she held it along with a few other items.

First up is the skirt (Style #88345, BSP, $89.50), which is not online yet, paired with the Scoopneck Blouse in Anchors Aweigh. I have on a Size 8 in both. How cute is this skirt? It sits a little high on the waist and has an A-line not straight style like most mini skirts. The color is gorgeous and looks great with the navy blouse. The only downside to this skirt? No pockets anywhere. I can live with that as it might have detracted from the shape of the skirt and made it bulky on the hips. It comes in at least two other colors that I think are Navy and Peach or Pink. I can’t remember as my sights were set on the mint. As for the blouse, I loved it when I originally saw it online and still do now. But $135? I’ll take my chances it makes it to sale.

The Naomi Top in Polka Dot reminds me just a little of the Kelsey Ruffle Top with a few less ruffles around the neck. My PS had it with the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Garden Floral. I’m wearing a Size 8 in the top. It is a little loose and I could feasibly size to a 6. I am wearing a Size 6 in the skirt, which is my normal size in JC pencil skirts and it felt just a bit loose. Since I wasn’t going to buy it I didn’t try the size 4 but I think that would be a better fit.
This is another dress that is not online but has the Big Shot Dot print. AJC originally reviewed it here. I have on a Size 4 which still seems a little big on me. Though it’s 100% Silk I don’t think it’s worth $168.
And as I was checking out, a shipment of jewelry came in, and with it this adorable little elephant necklace. Style #95272, $68
It didn’t come home with me today but I don’t know how long I’ll be able to resist it. I also saw the Bubble Necklace in Navy and it is gorgeous and a color I would pay full price for.
What do you think of these new items? Did anyone else find the fit of the Garden Floral Skirt big?
Have a Great Day!

Little by little I’m piecing together another, and hopefully FINAL, wardrobe for my trip. This past weekend I was in search of a floppy straw hat. I have a plethora of baseball caps but I knew they wouldn’t do for this trip. Of course, J Crew was my go-to place but I saw plenty of straw hats online at various stores and price points including Forever 21, Kohl’s and Charlotte Russe.

I thought my decision would be easy when I saw the Crocheted Straw Hat at J Crew last week and it has been at the top of my mind when searching online for hats. It helped that J Crew (in-stores) had 25% off all hats last weekend.
Then I saw the Marietta Sunhat in the May Anthropologie Catalog. Now I had to make some decisions.
Although I think the print on the Marietta Sunhat is darling it does look a little more delicate than the Crocheted Straw Hat. Also, my store did not have it so I was unable to see it IRL. The 25% off hats promo was still going on at J Crew and the price was lower than I originally remembered ($68 vs $45).
I love the coloring on it and was preferring to a darker hat as opposed to the lighter straw. The brim is nice and wide and will cover all of my face and neck and some of my shoulders.
What do you think of the Crocheted Straw Hat? Do you have a straw hat you use during the summer?

I’m really not one to buy immediately after seeing an item from the Anthropologie Catalog. J Crew…all day long…but not Anthro, or any other catalog for that matter. The Leadlight Maxi Skirt is the first time I’ve wanted something immediately, without trying it on.

I couldn’t decide if I should go with the 6 or 8 Petite, as Maeve’s sizing for me is all over the place (size 4 in the Mod Garden Dress). I went with the 8 Petite and it was the right call. I think the 6 might have been too snug in the waist. Right now the 8P sits high-waisted on me, but that is fine. I don’t plan on tucking anything in to it.
I’m not sure if I should have it hemmed or not though. It drags the floor when I’m standing still but seems to just hit the floor when I’m walking/moving. I will mainly wear flats with it. A heel wouldn’t require the hemming. It is lined but only to just above the knee where the slit starts. I show you an Angelina pose when I wear it…which will be soon!
All the gorgeous colors in it will make it so versatile to wear this summer. Now that Husband has finally finished our itinerary for our trip I can do the final planning of what I’ll talk. This skirt is in the running to take.
What do you think of the Leadlight Maxi Skirt?

Hey there! Hope everyone had a great weekend and wonderful weather like we’ve been experiencing in South Texas. I’ve had a busy week followed by an even busier weekend. I have a little weekend break this weekend but then it will be non-stop for the next 9 weekends. I did manage to swing by our lovely outdoor mall yesterday and do a little shopping. Of course, I stopped in at J Crew and picked up an unexpected item, on sale of course.

I really hadn’t been participating in any of the sales lately as I am really trying to cull my closet to have clothes I love. I know there will be the occasional “gotta have that” buy but for the most part I’ve been meticulous about what I buy. I have been trying to stay away from any new pencil skirts as I have amassed quite a few. Mini-skirts need to be fun but pass the bend-over test and I’m starting to find and wear more dresses lately. Shirtdresses have become my newest obession. You’ll see a few in the coming days (Girl Scout Promise!).

Anyway, a few weeks ago I tried on the No. 2 Long Pencil Skirt in Sovereign Paisley and fell in love with the print. Unfortunately, the skirt was too long so I passed on it. I’ve been thinking about that print since then and knew my store had plenty of the Cafe’ Capris in that print on sale. Now, I tried on, purchased and returned the solid version in Bright Dahlia from the Spring as the fit was weird on me. The size 6 was a teensy bit snug in the booty but the 8 was saggy. Because of this, I hadn’t tried on any other of the Cafe’ Capris, including the printed versions. I decided to give them a try to see how they compared in fit with the solid color.
Here they are in a Size 6.
I must say they are a perfect fit. I didn’t even bother with a size 8. I cuffed them twice to see how they would look hemmed and LOVEIT!! I paired them with the Garment Dyed Linen Cable-Knit Sweater in Neon Azalea and the Suede Mona Pumps in Wild Berry. All three items were on sale plus the 30% off. The pants had a tag of $109.99 and I was resigned to purchasing them at that price, less the 30% off. When it rang up they were actually $79.99, plus 30% off! The sweater was $54.99 and there were all sizes and colors on sale. I am wearing an XS here but sized up to a Small (which is really down a size from my normal Medium). I also have this in Green, White and Navy. If they make it to a second cut on sale I’ll grab the rest of the colors. The Mona’s were $99.99.
And since I was in the dressing room already, I also tried on the Cafe’ Capri in Seersucker, Size 6. My SA gave me the Perfect Shirt in Stripe Linen to try with it along with the Patent Leather Belt in Bright Dahlia. I added the Mona’s and absolutely loved the look. I am wearing a size 4 in the shirt but would size to a 6 for a little bit more comfort in the arms, shoulders and chest. Again, I cuffed the pants to a true “capri” length. The pants fit well and sizing up would have made them baggy and less fitted.
I hope my willpower holds out until these pants go on sale but they almost seem too perfect to pass up at full price. Actually, the whole outfit does.
Have a Great Day!

I have a lot of love for the Casbah print in Jade from J Crew Spring 2011. I have the dress and scarf and pined over the Perfect Shirt and Silk Blouse. I regretfully missed the swimwear in this print that the lovely xoxo has and considered, for a brief moment, the Romper. A good print will do that to you. It will make you consider wearing it in something you know is going to look ridiculous on you.
When Rynetta, from the blog jcrewismyfavstore, posted a pic of what looked like this lovely print in a skirt I immediately called my local Factory Store. I described it to the best of my ability, without the Style # (which is 37532) and luckily, this was the only green printed pencil skirt in the store. The SA confirmed it was a pencil skirt. I was hoping, just a little, that it would be the Belle Skirt. How cute would that have been?
As expected, it arrived today and I am loving it. It is cotton but un-lined which is fine by me. I ordered my normal size 6 and it is a perfect fit, per usual.
Such a pretty print. It is 98% Cotton and 2% Spandex and the color is Jade. Since this is in Factory stores now my guess is new arrivals will be on the website tomorrow. I wonder what other Spring goodies we’ll see!
Thanks for reading!
Two posts in one day…I’m loving my new app! Now, when I have a blog post in my head I can whip out Diva (I’ve named my iPad) and start typing away. She’ll be one hard-working iPad. 😉
