Here’s another round of Banana Republic, this time dresses.

Mixed Print Riviera Dress, Size 6 – I really liked this dress. It has a slip-lining and fits loose but not like the JC Jules dresses. Just a really nice Ikat Shift Dress. The reviews are mixed online. I like the v-neck and it just sits well on my body. I am a 6 in shift or unstructured dresses so size down. I’m considering this one.

Floral Drop-Waist Dress, Size 6, Ivory – I believe this also comes in Black in-store. Or at least that’s what I thought I saw. This dress runs Small and would take some severe Spanxing to manage in this size. I love the big huge daisies all over the dress. I don’t like the exposed back zipper. The length was good and I didn’t find it too see-through though I was wearing nude undergarments. A pass for me but would be a great option for graduation or in the darker color for a wedding. Kind of loved it though and would consider it in the size 8.

Seamed Fit-and-Flare Dress, Size 6, White (also Navy) – This one isn’t as tight as the Drop-Waist Dress but I would still go up to an 8 in this. The Ponte is comfortable and not very thick but thick enough that it isn’t see-through in the white. You can see it has an exposed back zip in the last pic. I’d consider this on sale, probably in the Navy.

Heritage Textured Stripe Belted Sheath Dress, Size 6 – This dress was the image in my email and I was happy to see it in the store. But, this dress is structured and the size 6 does not fit. You might think it look like it does fit very well but I could not zip it up past the belt/waist. The hips were pretty tight too. I would like to try the size 8 and I really loved the material and the shape is really nice too. I hope the size 8 gives me the look of that tiny waist I see in these pics. 😉

Anything catch your eye here? I have some Jewelry pieces coming up later today.
Happy Shopping!

Banana Republic started a promo today for 40% off in-store and online (BRFORTY) through 4/21. I just happened to be near one last night, wasting some time before The Boy’s event, so I grabbed a few things to try on.

Navy Ponte Fit-and-Flare Skirt, Size 6 – I tried this on to compare with my beloved Fluted Skirt and I really liked it. The skirt is a little more swingy than the Fluted Skirt but only because of the material. It wasn’t too heavy or thick and felt very comfortable on. The length was perfect for me but I passed on it, only because I have the Fluted Skirt in a variety of colors.

Boat Print Sleeveless Top, Size 6 – Looking at this I thought it was silk but turned out to be Poly. I try to stay away from Poly if I can but sometimes things are just too cute or well-made to pass them up, even if they are.

Pleated Circle Skirt, Size 8 – I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this skirt with all the pleating but it wasn’t too bad on. That was also with the 8 being too big. I’d size to a 6 to determine if I really liked it. The color is Holly Berry and is a very pretty red with a cute navy satin lining at the interior waistband. A pass for me as I struggle with styling red with colors other than blue, white and black.

Fluted Skirt, Size 6, White (also Black) – I’d size to an 8 in this because though it fit, I have no room for anything else (food!). It’s snug, not tight, IYKWIM. It is lined but you can still see through it. Pass since I have lovely Kate Spade skirt in white I love!.

Sloan-Fit Dot-Print Pencil Skirt, Size 8 – This was on the table as I walked in and seemed pretty popular as the only sizes available were a 2, 8 and 12. The 8 is comfortable and looks like it fits but I know the size 6 will skim my waist and hips better. Definitely considering this one.

Elephant Printed Short, Size 6 – These remind me of the old BR days when there was so much Safari in the store – elephants, giraffes, lions, etc. Anyone remember that? The 6 was a nice fit. I wouldn’t size to an 8 as they will stretch some. The length was good too.

Have you seen Banana Republic’s new rollout yet? Anything interest you? I have some dresses and jewelry coming up tomorrow.

Have a Great Day!

This is round 2 for the Chambray Shift Dress from Banana Republic {original review}. I really couldn’t get it out of my head and was able to order it for almost the same price as last time. Actually, maybe a little less this time. This is the size 8 and it fits much better. The size 6 was snug, not necessarily tight but definitely not for wearing while eating a large meal.  The size 8 is a little looser everywhere and now I really really like it so it’s going to be staying in my closet. It will be a great dress to just throw on for the day and doesn’t look too bad with the Lillian Mirror Metallic Wedge Sandals I had on that day.

I also decided to try the Heritage Denim Top in a size 8. This top is just the dress without the bottom half. The material is the same as the dress and feels soft and comfortable against the skin. I’ll return this as it was just a little difficult to take off. There is a short, exposed zipper in the back and no stretch in the shirt.

I was glad I decided to give the Chambray Shift Dress another try in the size 8. It’s very cute and should get a bit of wear this Spring and Summer.
Have a Great Day!

I’ve ordered a few things here and there from Banana Republic lately. Though I returned everything but one item in this post I thought I’d share the IRLs in case any of you are interested in them. My previous reviews are {here}.

Banana Republic Chambray Shift Dress, size 6 – This dress just fit and I’d feel better in a size 8. I material felt nice and soft, very Chambray and not denim-like. I wanted to exchange this for an 8 but feared that it wouldn’t be available online when I sent it back. Non of my 4 stores have received this yet so I just returned it outright.

Exposed zipper…

The Hampton Pant is my new favorite pant. These are the Hampton Fit Crop in a Regular 6 Short. I love that there are different inseams (Regular, Short, Long) and Petite sizing for these pants. The color is Flirty Pink. They fit amazingly well and though I liked these I have a pair of Cafe’ Capri in the same shade I still haven’t worn so they were returned. I also have the Emerald Print Crop in 6 Regular that I still need to wear.

I did keep the Hampton Fit Chambray Crop. I was about to purchase another pair of the Tory Burch Cropped Skinny Jeans and found the BR ones that are a perfect, and less expensive, duplicate. I’ve worn them several times already. The fit is flattering and the rinse is dark enough to be dressed up with a silk top and heels. I took a Regular 6 Short in these as well.

I saw the Gold-Button Blazer in Cocoon in the store back in January but my size was not available. I ordered a size 8 when it was 50% off. Unfortunately I don’t think even a 10 Petite would work for me. I didn’t like where the buttons hit, way too low. The sleeves were crazy long as well. This was just ill-fitting all over so I returned it.

Though I didn’t keep the dress, I really did like it. And the pants are a definite love! I will be trying more colors as they come out.

What have you tried at Banana Republic lately?

I stopped in to Banana Republic a few weeks ago and found the Sloan-Fit Windowpane Slim Ankle Pant. A lone item in the sale section in a size 6, that magically fit. These sold out quickly and I was excited I was able to find them. While there I also tried on the Hampton-Fit Medallion Print Crop in a size 8 and 6. The 8 was very big and saggy through the front and legs. The 6 was a much better fit. I did not buy them then as I knew to wait for Wednesday when BR is consistent to have 40% each week.

The pockets do pull out just a touch. The fit is better in the front and legs. This is one of the very few pants I’ve tried where it says it’s a crop and it fits me like a crop and not a regular length pant. I like that this is all one color and the Medallion print is not a different color from the pant itself.

I have had my eye on the Floral Jacquard Pleated Full Skirt since it popped up on the website in early January. I was hoping to find it in store to try on but had to take a chance on sizing when I ordering it online. I chose an 8 as the 6 was sold-out. That was the best choice. I did not realize this skirt was a mini skirt but should have if I had read the description (18″ long). It definitely has a full skirt but it’s kind of fun. I love the print, which reminds me of the Gallerista Skirt from J Crew a few years back. Sadly this skirt is now sold out and removed from the website. You can see the Polyvore image here
The Bold-Stripe Metallic Tee and the Luxe-Touch Piped Tee are great basics to have and don’t feel like they will get holes in them after a wash or two. They are very comfortable on and have some stretch to them. They feel like a structured jersey tee and seem to dress up an outfit over a regular cotton tee from J Crew.

I took my normal size Medium in both and grabbed the White and Navy in the Luxe-Touch. There is also Canteloupe, a pretty Orange, and Wild Orchid, a bright pink, that are now online and weren’t when I was in the store. The Stripe Tee is Black and White. I would have loved for it to have been Navy. Maybe that’s coming next.
Other than sale discounts, the 40% off on Wednesday’s is a great deal at Banana. The only other item I wanted that was excluded was the Gold-Button Blazer in Cocoon. I would have bought it in-store but they were all sold out.
