I have been by myself for the last two week. Both Husband and The Boy have been on vacation in SE Asia with my brother; a Graduation/Guys Trip. They finally come home on Thursday and I couldn’t be happier. They will have been gone a total of 18 days, visiting Tokyo, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, where my brother currently lives.

It’s been an amazing, and eye-opening trip for them, but so very lonely for me. Even shopping and store visiting has become a little boring. But! I’ve pushed on, in case you are looking for any deals or wishlist items. One rare stop last week was to Loft. There was a Linen Tee (below) that Jean had posted about and it looked very nice and the colors very saturated. Also, shirts were 40% off and some pants were $40 off!

Chambray Bustier, size 6 – This is a super-cute little top and great for layering under a blazer or cardigan, or for wearing now to combat the heat. It’s not cropped either. This size was a good fit. The back has elastic to stretch some.

Floral Linen Sleeveless Tee, XS – This was the only size available in the tee that brought me into the store. It fit but looked a little stretched out. The colors were just as saturated as I’d hope they’d be.

Floral Mosaic Sleeveless Linen Tee, Small – This is the size I would go with as it fit well. There was no pulling or stretching. The armholes aren’t cut too low. In the end, I decided neither were for me or currently life/work-style. But I definitely recommend the Floral print above as the colors are as saturated as I’d hope they’d be.

Piped Shirt, Petite Small – I was very interested in this top, having seen it online and though it’s Polyester I really liked it. I ended up going with the Petite Medium as the arms were cutting in a little to make it somewhat uncomfortable.

You can see how the Petite Medium drapes a little better at the arms. The pants are the Striped Summer Pants in Marisa Fit. I’ll review those tomorrow.
With Summer Sales at full gusto and Fall Arrivals trickling in, it’s hard to stay focused on what’s really needed in my closet versus what’s wanted (everything!).

I’m really excited about next weeks Capsule Remix that I’m starting early. The outfits I’ve created in my Stylebook App look really good. I hope they translate well IRL. This week is another theme – Linen. All the linen in this remix are tops mixed with some new items from the J Crew sale section.

The following two outfits were from last week, both involving white bottoms. I had dinner with some friends downtown on Saturday and changed from my Delfine Pencil Skirt into this. I knew I’d be walking city streets and my feet were tired from wearing heels all day so I wore the Lucie Printed Flats. The Daisy Lace Top {pin} is from Talbots, found in the sale section. It’s a lovely shade of yellow and fits well in the size 8. There is a small button in the back and a side zip that goes down, not up. There’s a similar style in red, white and blue colors. The sleeve looks a little thinner and longer. The pants are my Tory Burch Cropped Skinny Jean in White. This was perfect and comfortable for a evening out.

This was my outfit from last Friday. I love both of these items. I felt so cool, casual and comfortable that day. I’m so glad I gave the Gabo Eyelet Tee a try-on. It’s fast becoming a favorite in my closet, as are the Linen Cargo Pants. These run generously big as I’m wearing a size 4. I bought them in both colors, Pesto and White. The sandals are also J Crew, the Malta Mirror Metallic Sandals. I think this would look better with the Burnt Sienna though.

It’s so easy to get dressed when I love my clothes.

I wish I could say I wear this skirt a few times a year but, to be honest, I haven’t worn it since I first purchased it (here). Looking at that outfit now, it’s kind of basic and boring. I was always stumped by the colors and how to style it. I decided I would try to wear it at least 2-3 times this Summer or sell it. This skirt was the reason for my “Old School Crew” Remix this week. Despite the colors and the length needing to be altered I was determined to find something other than a matching tan Tee to go with it.

Enter this Linen Top from Zara. I have worn this top at least once a week since I bought it. It runs big so I grabbed a Small. It also give the illusion of a cropped top but covers well on me. I’ve worn this with skinny jeans, shorts, mini skirts. It goes with everything. I added some gold jewelry, way more than I usually wear, but felt it all went well together. The Dangling Disc Necklace is another older J Crew item that I wore with this skirt the last time.

I was able to grab a couple of wishlist items on sale plus promo using some generous birthday gift cards from my family.

The Collection Leather Mini Skirt was not on my radar until it went on sale and I ended up ordering both the Oyster Shell and Navy. It’s rare to see such colors in a Leather Skirt and I think that makes it less noticeable as leather. I envision wearing these with my Cashmere Tees and new Tory Burch Kelly Top.

The color is a gorgeous and really does look like an oyster shell. I ordered a size 8 in both, though most reviewers stated it ran big. I think the fit is TTS as 8 is my normal min-skirt size. The feel of the leather was the first thing I noticed right out of the package. It’s so buttery soft; not stiff at all. This fits a little more snug than the Navy but I think there’s too much lining in this one. I could feel it gathering as I walked around.

Though there is enough leather at the hem to lengthen it, I have no idea how to go about suggesting how to do that.

The Navy is much darker than this image. I couldn’t get the right color with or without flash. The slant pockets don’t add any bulk in front. You can see how much better this fits than the Oyster Shell skirt, both the same size. Unfortunately, I have to hunt a pop-back in another size 8 or a 10 since all sizes are now sold out. I’ll keep the size I have and hope I find a pop-back as the color, and price, were too rare.

The Linen Maxidress in Hammock Green popped back in a size 6. It wasn’t and still isn’t on sale but I had to grab it. The color is just as beautiful in person as it is online, maybe more so. I need a beautiful necklace like Dani’s to wear with it.

I love my Puff-Sleeve Blazer in Warm Poppy and have worn it about 5-6 times since purchasing it. I ordered both the Black and Navy in my normal blazer size of 10 Petite and the fit is perfect. During the Spring, I wore my Wool Schoolboy Blazers in Black and Navy a lot but during April and May wished I had a cotton version of both. Here it is in the Black and though I like it I think that maybe I should stick with the Navy. I’m still deciding though.

Another wishlist item was Schoolboy Blazer in Linen in Dark Evergreen. The fit in a 10 Petite is perfect though it’s not a 100% keeper. I love the color but am having a little trouble finding things to wear with it in my closet. It has to work with at least 3 different things to stay or it will just sit NWT.

I also grabbed the Drapey Drawsting Pant since it came to $20 in-store with the 50% off.

What little goodies did you find during the promos online/in-store?
