Tory Burch had a lovely Labor Day promo over the weekend and I stopped by the store to see if the items I had tried on last time {here and here} were still something I wanted. I really do love the Peg Shell but found the most wonderful silk shirtdress instead.

~ Cora Dress, size 6 ~

I have found that I am 90% consistently a size 8 in Tory Burch. I originally only grabbed the size 6 because it was the only one hanging in the store. There were other sizes in the back. If you’ve never been to a Tory Burch boutique, they have a few sizes out, like a 2/6/10 or S/M or S/L. All the rest of the sizes are in the back. The sales associates will happily get you whatever size you need. I still hate bugging SAs for sizes, especially if all I’m doing it trying on only so I try to grab the 6/8/M that might be out in the store. I’m 42! I shouldn’t be afraid of asking an SA for help!

Anyway, I sized down to a size 6 in this dress. It’s 100% silk without lining. Instead of a straight hem all around it is rounded in the front and back and has an extra panel on the sides that’s a little shorter.

I love this since the dress looks like, from the front, it is going to be very revealing and then the sides are covered up. It is also the reason why I was able to size down. I think if that extra panel had not been there the hips would have been a little tight and I would have gone to my normal size 8. It’s defnitely an “AudreyBella” dress. Just the right hem length and right amount of leg showing.
A nice close-up of the red floral print.
The online image shows the dress with the Simone Suede Over-The-Knee boots and tights. Above, I have paired the dress with both brown and black booties and black wedges. I would probably do a heel of some kind or the black booties, then add my Pixie Pant in Tuxedo Stripe {similar} and a belt and wear it as a tunic.
It also comes in a Horse Print and a “Hardware” Print. Personally, I think the red floral print will be a lasting print for years to come. I have added the Peg Shell to my wishlist so I can grab it when it goes on sale.
Did you get anything from the Tory Burch Labor Day promo?

All through Spring and Summer I have been eyeing this slip-on sneaker trend. I debated on whether or not to jump on the trendy bandwagon and buy a pair but never did, until now. I think I was waiting for the right pair to come along.

Both the Suiting Mix and the Pinstripe are very Preppy. Possibly a “Preppy Skater” style? With these it’s a definite possibility. They both fit TTS.

The suiting mix has three different patterns on the front, side and back of the shoe with a white outer sole.

The pinstripe wool are navy with burgundy/white pinstripes on them. I loved these so much more than the suiting mix. I tried them on with a few things that I’ll be reviewing soon.
The pattern stays the same on all three panels, front/side/back.

I have been looking for a pair of Navy booties. It’s been stuck in my head for a few weeks now but I haven’t been able to find the right pair. I think the Vans Classic Slip-on in Pinstripe Wool may just satisfy my need for a pair of Navy shoes, including those booties.

Have you tried any of the Vans offerings from J Crew?

I bit hard on the 40% off Final Sale last week at Madewell. I didn’t really look at anything until then so I didn’t have a wishlist prepared. Not very smart considering everything I bought was Final Sale. Let’s see if I liked them all.

Linen Palm Tee, Medium ~

I liked the blue sky in this tee along with the palms. I like that the Linen is not very sheer. The Medium is a nice fit but not too slouchy.
Silk Shadeview Dip-Dye Cami, size 6  ~

I like this little cami for layering under blazers this Fall. The size 6 is well-fitting and I’m glad I chose it as the size 8 would have been really big and not returnable. I’ll probably wear this with the Toothpick in Destructed Miller Wash and my Navy Puff-Sleeve Blazer with booties of some kind.

Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank, size Medium ~

I loved this tank immediately out of the package. The linen is a little thicker. The Medium is a nice fit but I’ll definitely send this to the cleaners. If this shrinks I don’t think it will fit. A Large would have made it look really boxy through the waist. I wore this over the weekend with my Pleated Crepe Shorts in Black. I’ll wear this through the Fall as well with a black or blue blazer.
Kasbah Top,Medium ~

This received a lot of love from everyone and I was finally able to grab it in a Medium. I think I could have sized to a Small in it though. I didn’t realize how sheer it was though. And it’s probably more noticeable on me because of my tan and skin-tone.
~ Lightstitch Blouse, Small ~

The hippie in me loves little peasant blouses. I like that this one was black with a little embroidery here and there. But this is very sheer. The first pic I took I used flash and that was crazy see-through. The non-flash is a little less but I think it will require a black cami underneath. The Small fits ok. I didn’t really do anything with it in these pics so it just looks like it’s hanging there. The Medium might have had a nicer flow throughout but I can work with the Small that I have.

Pleated Shirtstripe Skirt, size 6 ~

I debated between ordering this skirt and the Indigo Shibori Linen Skirt. This one won out. The size 6 is sitting at my waist so I’d say it runs TTS. I liked the pleating as well. I was hoping they wouldn’t bulge out too much. Gigi reviewed it too.

My favorite is the Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank. I could have sized up in the Lightstitch Blouse and passed on the Kasbah Top. I also bought the Seagauze Pleat Tank in both White and Black but they are very very sheer and I couldn’t find my camis to go under them. They fit TTS in the Medium that I bought but, again, will definitely need an under layer to wear.

I hope your Madewell Final Sale purchases worked out for you!

I ordered two Collection items last week, one of which was included in the 25% off select items promo.

Collection Wide Leg Trouser in Bi-Stretch Wool, Crimson Maple, size 8 ~

I am glad that I ordered these when I did. They were included in the promo, and removed from it by the weekend and are now sold out. I will take a guess that they will pop-back in the next few weeks as people make returns.
I debated ordering a size 6 over the size 8 since the material was a bi-stretch wool and there were no belt loops to add one if needed. The size 8 won out and though the size 6 would have sat higher on my hips, almost to the waist, and the length would have looked shorter, like in the model image, it might have run a bit tight across the booty. The size 8 are a decent fit and sit comfortably on my hips.
The back has a nice wide-leg drape in the size 8. I think the size 6 would have pulled too much causing major VPL. You can see the hem-line hits at the top of my wedge. I have enough cuff to let down if I want to change these to full-length trousers. Being 5’2″, cropped pants always end up being the perfect floor length for me instead.

Here is the difference between a heel and a flat. I think the pant looks looks better with the heel. Maybe if the flat was the same color as the pant it might look more stream-lined and not so cut-off.

One more thing to mention is that these are fully lined. I will be keeping these and playing with the hemline a little to see if I prefer the sort-of crop of the full-length.
Collection Draped Silk Popover, Navy, size 6 ~

This top was not included in the promo but it looked so pretty online that I had to order it. I debated, again, between the size 6 and 8. The size 6 fit well through the body. The arms were a little snug. This is a pull-over and no extra buttons or zippers to open to help you ease into this top. The front is very low and open. They must have the model image all taped up. As you can see I added a cami but this will definitely drape open. I think I could have used some Hollywood tape to keep this closed but a silk cami will look nice with this top.
The whole outfit together looks really nice. The Popover has a wide hem that seems to grab the hips. It doesn’t seem to move and will help the shirt drape like it should. I really love the Navy color and the Bright Eggplant looks very pretty online. I think the Bleached Sand would be very sheer and require a sturdy cami for it.
Overall, I’m still on the fence about the popover but the pants are a nice addition to my closet.

My only Fall Factory purchase arrived last week while we were moving The Boy to college.

~ Addie Gallop Loafer, size 7 ~

This was the only “horse” item I purchased from the Factory. I have been looking for a pair of gray flats or loafers and these are cute for my relaxed style. The left foot was a little more snug than normal but I don’t think sizing to a 7 1/2 would give me all that much more width, just length. I will see if wearing socks with them won’t stretch them out just a little.
The upper is Wool/Flannel with a patent trim. The horses are nicely embroidered on the material. The heel is very small and flat and the lining does feel like leather. The sole is man-made with some material at the bottom making it skid-proof.

I’m happy this is the “Horsing Around” item I picked. I passed on the sweatshirts from the Retail last year and have quite a few in my closet so I also passed on the Factory versions too.

Have you tried the Addie Gallop Loafer yet? I haven’t been to a store so I’m unsure if they are stocked.
