I really haven’t been to Anthropologie in a while. J Crew has been taking all my shopping time but I did have the afternoon to myself so I stopped by. I took a quick tour around the store and nothing really caught my eye so I headed to the sale section. Lots of stuff on sale and great stuff too! (See my Arribada Current Dress purchase below.)

Here are the rest of my purchases, all on sale.

Drifting Jasmine Skirt – $49.95, Size 6 – This is high-waisted on me but I don’t mind it. The length is perfect and the pattern is so vibrant IRL.

Elevenses Snapshot Jacket – $39.95 – Gigi just reviewed this comparing it with the J Crew Dauphine Jacket.
Size 8 – This fits me well in the shoulders and waist (when buttoned). A 6 would have been too small, as most jackets are for me.

Girls from Savoy Bindwood Blouse – $49.95, Size 6 – The detail on it has tiny holes throughout (I’m wearing a nude bra although you’d think it was white). This is a pull-over with no zip or button on it. I do like it but I’m still debating on whether or not to keep it.

Also, from J Crew, the Canterbury Bells Mini skirt. This print is on a pencil skirt (and cardi) online and I debated which one I should get. I may still get the pencil skirt and I’ll need the will-power to stay away from shorts in this pattern if they make it. When I love a pattern I buy multiples (Cocodrillo-pencil skirt, shorts; Watercolor Pastiche – pencil skirt, shorts, heels!;  Rose Vines – perfect shirt, shorts)…see what I mean.

Size 6 – Style #26581, $69.50 – This is like most of J Crew’s mini skirts. The back zipper is exposed like the Nori Jacquard mini and I measured the length down the middle front at 15 3/4-16 inches. I love the pattern on this. It would look great in a flow-y skirt, like the Monterrey or Shirred Deco. I tried on the 8 but the length was only about a 1/4 inch difference and it bunched in the front when I walked.

Have a great day!

Husband and I usually celebrate holidays early – Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc. It’s a lot easier to get a table at our favorite restaurants to go a few days before the “big day”. So tonight I was taken to Maggiano’s for Mother’s Day dinner.

I was planning on wearing my Impressionist pencil skirt and new “Charms and Kitsch” tee but I did a little shopping today after I created my Polyvore and pick up the Arribada Current Dress by Moulinette Soeurs from Anthropologie. It was on sale for $69.95 in-store ($99.95 on the website). I tried a 6 and it was too loose on top so I asked for the 4. Still slightly loose but there was no way I could size down to a 2. I love the cut, style, length, PRINT! I didn’t even notice the sea turtles on it until I tried on the 4! I grabbed it because of the green color.

So here it is. (Sorry for the non-expression. I’m not mad. And I need a haircut!)

Dress: Arribada Current Dress by Moulinette Soeurs from Anthropologie
Necklace: J Crew Salon Necklace
Shoes: Nine West
Look at the turtles!
It has pockets! I pinned the neckline. I think I can have it taken up at the shoulder seams to fit a little better. Also, my shoes are old. I didn’t realize I have no cute black sandals. I originally envisioned flat sandals with this dress but I had none. I pulled these from my ebay pile. I think I need some black slingback sandals with a kitten heel for this dress.
I’ll have a post tomorrow with my other Anthro sale buys and a new J Crew mini skirt (too cute!).

I headed over to J Crew to get out of the house this afternoon to check out their new arrivals from last week. A few cute things but kind of “meh” overall.

Impressionist Pencil Skirt – I was so happy this was in my store. I loved it as soon as I saw it online. Overall the length is slightly shorter than most of J Crew pencil skirts. J Crew says it’s a shorter length at 21 inches.

Size 4 – A little tight and shows the pooch a little more than I prefer. The length on this was right in the middle of the knee. (I’m 5’2”.)
Size 6 – Better fit and my usual size in JC pencil skirts. The length was just below the knee. Normally the size 6 is about two inches below the knee.
Paper Poplin Shirt in Bronzed Avocado
Size 6 – These shirts and the perfect shirts are always a little tight for me in the shoulders and arms.
Much better fit of the size 6 in the skirt, don’t you think?
Size 8 of the shirt. It’s a little looser through the body but the fit is better in the shoulders and arms. I love the color and it goes well with this skirt. I’m thinking of these two with the tee below and my studded brown belt. Shoes??? Hmmm…
Size M – Such a great lightweight sweater. It comes in Sand Dune as well.
This shirt is not online. This is a navy and cream/beige striped shirt, not navy and white.
The receipt says Navy Sailot Stripe Boatneck. Style #26977, $59.50
I think a Small might give a little better fit. I’ll probably check out the other store this weekend to see if they have that size to exchange. The neon pink detail, though mostly hidden, is cute.

Another in-store only tee from what I can tell. Charms and Kitsch Tee, Style #26398, $29.50
I tried on the Small in-store but brought home the Medium. This is the J Crew tee I like. It doesn’t look like a kindergarten class got a-hold of the paint. It has a few little sequins on it but not overkill. The small was a little snug, especially in the shoulders on me, so I’m glad I was able to get my normal, non-vanity size (I think).
Rose Vines Shorts –
I think these were an in-store item only. I love the print and it’s so much more vibrant than the Perfect shirt.
Size 8 – I bought these shorts at the other JC store a few weeks ago on sale for $39.99. When I went two weeks ago to my normal store I returned it for some other items. I just happened to check the sale section and there they were but marked down to $19.99. So they are mine…again.
Have a great evening!

I know it’s been a while since I posted but I’ve been swamped with work, home, life in general with no me time anywhere. And it sucks. It also sucks that I still haven’t found a camera. Husband said I couldn’t get a new one so I’m scouring ebay for one EXACTLY like mine. Ta Da! Mine’s fixed. He actually wants to get an DSLR so I can understand why he said no to a new, slim, easy-to-manage, fits-in-my-purse camera.

Here’s what I’m wearing for Cinco de Mayo. I bought this blouse several years ago at Francesca’s Collections and they are also online. They have are like a little Anthropologie Boutique, with lower price points.

Blouse: Lithe from Francesca’s
Shorts: J Crew
Shoes: Corso Como (last seen here)

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Here’s a homemade Mexican Martini for you!

Enjoy!

I was able to stop by J Crew on my way out of town today and found some things on sale. Both pencil skirts were on sale for $69.99, the tee was $14.99, and the Nori Jacquard mini was $19.99. The blouse on the left is from The Limited and was $34.99.

Major confession about the mini. This is the third time I bought it. The first time I exchanged it for a 6, from an 8. Then I returned it because I hadn’t worn it. Then I bought it online when it went on sale and with a promo. And I returned it again because I hadn’t worn it. Then today I saw it on sale for $19.99 and took it as a sign that it should be in my closet no matter what.

Whew! I feel better.

Have a great week.
