Here’s a cute little skirt that seems to only be in-stores at J Crew right now. As soon as I saw it on Ema I knew I needed to try it on.

I’m wearing a size 6 with this. I don’t think an 8 would have given me any more length due to the thick elastic waist band. This style/cut is similar to the Tie-Dye Wednesday skirt. I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this skirt, especially with tights and flat boots.

Worn with J Crew Denim Perfect Shirt
Size: 6
Style #: 32456
Color: RED
$98

As I type we have a cool front blowing in. Yesterday was 90 degrees! and today will be in the 70s. Is Fall finally in South Texas? I sure hope so.

Have a great day!

I have a pair of Kate Spade “Riley” Rain Boots I love. If you are in a wet climate you know it is a wise decision to have a pair lying around. I use them in spurts. You never know what the weather will bring here in Texas. Rain one day and 100 degrees and sunny the next. I was able to get quite a bit of use out of these over the summer, just running to the mailbox and even a quick run to the grocery store.

Here are mine.

They come in all different price points. Here are just a few other options.
Of course, “The Original” from Hunter. These come in a variety of colors. $125

Coach “Pixy” – $108

Kate Spade “Randi – $125 – How cute is the bow?

Chinese Laundry “Bog” – $60 – I’m partial to the Hunter Green but they also come in Black and Purple.

See by Chloe – $215

Chooka “Herringbone” – $70 – It has a cute herringbone shaft.

Even though we don’t get a lot of “cold/below freezing” weather in SATX during the day I am looking at a pair of these to put inside my Rain Boots.

Have a great, “dry” day!

Here are the other reviews.
J Crew: Taffeta Marvelle Mini
J Crew: Fall/Holiday 2010 – Skirts
J Crew: Fall/Holiday 2010 – Jackets and Dresses

I didn’t try on the beaded tees just because those were at the end and I was ready to get out of the dressing room but I did want to show IRLs in case there was a slight color difference than the online pics.

Flower Beaded Tee – Not online
Poppy Art Tee
Foxy Art Tee

Drapey Sequin Tank – There is no lining in this tank so you feel the stitching from the sequins. I do like the Olive color and the Small fit fine. The Medium was just a bit too baggy and loose for me. It looked great with the Silk Bubble Mini and with jeans. This comes in Dark Pewter, White Ash, Olive Moss, Black and Warm Taupe. If these make it to sale I’ll probably grab another color.

Lisette Lace Shell – I used the black to try on with most of the skirts and with my jeans. This is very cute under a cardigan or sweater. It comes in Black, Heirloom Pink (both pictured), Navy and Olive Moss. Had the Olive Moss been in the store I would have been all over it and probably taken it over the Drapey Sequin Tank.

Vintage Cotton Traversa-Stripe Tank – The Small fit good, maybe a little snug in the chest and the Medium was loose (navy). I don’t need any patterned tanks as I prefer solid colors to go under cardis and shirts. This comes in White Ash Caramel (which looked Olive to me) and White Ash Navy.

Lace Tee – OMG! I know this is sheer but I love this tee. I was sold when I tried it on with my jeans. I took a Small which was a perfect fit. I’m didn’t try it on but the XS might have been a good fit too. I would at least size down if you are wanting this. It’s very loose fitting.

So that’s it. I hope this helps you if you are looking to buy any of these.

And it looks like if I want any more J Crew Cashmere I’ll have to order it online. They took all of it out of my store and an SA told me they were not selling any cashmere in Texas anymore. Really J Crew? I’m sure it has to do with it not selling but maybe rolling it out in late August when we are still in tees and shorts (at least Central and South Texas) and not even thinking about sweaters, let alone cashmere, isn’t a good marketing strategy. I know stores (not just J Crew) want to get a jump on the seasonal fashion but they really should know their markets. Sweaters, long-sleeves and jackets in August are just not appealing to those of use who won’t be using it until November/December/January. By then, we’ll just get it on sale. Hmmm…on second thought, I’ll take a sale price over full price any time of year.

Have a great day!

J Crew: Taffeta Marvelle Mini
J Crew: Fall/Holiday 2010 – Skirts

OK…on to two jackets and two dresses I tried on.

Dream Tweed Cardigan – This was very soft and comfortable and the Medium fit, like most of the sweaters and cardigans do for me. The Small would have been a little snug. I had one problem. The zipper would not come undone. I had to pull it over my head. I’m sure that’s not how it’s supposed to be put on so it was annoying. It looked cute on, albeit a little boxy.

Gilded Tweed Jacket – Not really my style. I tried on for the blog only. It is pretty and the size 6 fit well throughout my shoulders and arms. Normally I have to jump to an 8 to accommodate that.

Silk & Flannel Dress – This is not online from what I’ve been able to research. It’s either in-store only or will show up online later. The top is black silk and the bottom part is grey flannel and it has pockets. It’s too lightweight to be wool. The 6 fit well although there was a teeny bit of tugging across the bust. The 8 was too big in the top. I’ll wait for the sale on this one. It will look cute with a cardigan and tights and boots.
All the details on on the picture so click to enlarge.

Gingham Sundrine Flannel Shirtdress – How cute is this dress. A little country-ish in this colorway/pattern but very comfortable. This will be a great everyday dress. It has pockets and a drop waist skirt. I’ll wait for it to go on sale though. There is also the Plaid Sundrine for $128 & the Solid Sundrine in Heather Grey and Heather Elm for $148. The Heather Elm was in store too and I loved the color. I really like the Olive Greens for Fall and J Crew is putting out a lot of items in that color range.

Last post coming up with shirts and tees.

First off…CONGRATS TO THE TEXAS RANGERS!!! World Series – Here we come!

Now on to the reviews and pics. I’ve collaged the pics and will try to do these in groups. Since I started with skirts (Taffeta Marvelle Mini) I’ll continue with them.
Crinkled Tier Mini – Very cute. I liked the fit of the 8 a little better since there is no give in the waistband. Online it looks like the skirt was steamed and more poofy. As you can see there isn’t too much difference in length between the 6 & 8. Would look really cute with tights.

Silk Bubble Mini – Tried on in the Olive Moss and it also comes in Warm Taupe. I loved this. I bought the Bubble Paisley Mini over the summer and wore it constantly. It looks cute with the Lisette Lace Shell and the Drapey Sequin Tank. I’m wearing the Medium and it fits great. It has an elastic waistband so you can adjust to wear it lower on your waist/hips.

Moss Tweed Mini – Cute but WAY TOO SHORT! I’m sure it would look cute with tights but a pass for me. Almost no difference in length between the 6 and 8. Also, the waist, for me, was a little snug in the 6.

Sunnie Pencil Skirt – Online description – The perfect cubicle-to-cocktails piece, our famously slimming pencil skirt in a richly textured, mellow-yellow tweed (a warmer alternative to winter’s starker shades of blacks, whites and greys).” This is a golden color online. As you can see with the middle picture (taken with flash), the golden yellow is very subdued on the skirt IRL. But I loved the skirt. It’s a shorter length (22 inches according to online) and the fit was amazing. The color on the tag was the same color online, so from what I can figure out there is not an “in-store” vs. “online” color. (Unless GMU also means Gray Multi and not Gold Multi.)

More to come over the weekend as I have time. I have tees, camis/tops, and a few dresses coming up.
