I wish I could say I wear this skirt a few times a year but, to be honest, I haven’t worn it since I first purchased it (here). Looking at that outfit now, it’s kind of basic and boring. I was always stumped by the colors and how to style it. I decided I would try to wear it at least 2-3 times this Summer or sell it. This skirt was the reason for my “Old School Crew” Remix this week. Despite the colors and the length needing to be altered I was determined to find something other than a matching tan Tee to go with it.

Enter this Linen Top from Zara. I have worn this top at least once a week since I bought it. It runs big so I grabbed a Small. It also give the illusion of a cropped top but covers well on me. I’ve worn this with skinny jeans, shorts, mini skirts. It goes with everything. I added some gold jewelry, way more than I usually wear, but felt it all went well together. The Dangling Disc Necklace is another older J Crew item that I wore with this skirt the last time.

These planned remixes are really helping me figure out what I wear the most and what I need to get rid of from my closet. This week I am going with an “Old School Crew” theme, pulling some of my older J Crew items.

Happy Monday!

I was able to grab a couple of wishlist items on sale plus promo using some generous birthday gift cards from my family.

The Collection Leather Mini Skirt was not on my radar until it went on sale and I ended up ordering both the Oyster Shell and Navy. It’s rare to see such colors in a Leather Skirt and I think that makes it less noticeable as leather. I envision wearing these with my Cashmere Tees and new Tory Burch Kelly Top.

The color is a gorgeous and really does look like an oyster shell. I ordered a size 8 in both, though most reviewers stated it ran big. I think the fit is TTS as 8 is my normal min-skirt size. The feel of the leather was the first thing I noticed right out of the package. It’s so buttery soft; not stiff at all. This fits a little more snug than the Navy but I think there’s too much lining in this one. I could feel it gathering as I walked around.

Though there is enough leather at the hem to lengthen it, I have no idea how to go about suggesting how to do that.

The Navy is much darker than this image. I couldn’t get the right color with or without flash. The slant pockets don’t add any bulk in front. You can see how much better this fits than the Oyster Shell skirt, both the same size. Unfortunately, I have to hunt a pop-back in another size 8 or a 10 since all sizes are now sold out. I’ll keep the size I have and hope I find a pop-back as the color, and price, were too rare.

The Linen Maxidress in Hammock Green popped back in a size 6. It wasn’t and still isn’t on sale but I had to grab it. The color is just as beautiful in person as it is online, maybe more so. I need a beautiful necklace like Dani’s to wear with it.

I love my Puff-Sleeve Blazer in Warm Poppy and have worn it about 5-6 times since purchasing it. I ordered both the Black and Navy in my normal blazer size of 10 Petite and the fit is perfect. During the Spring, I wore my Wool Schoolboy Blazers in Black and Navy a lot but during April and May wished I had a cotton version of both. Here it is in the Black and though I like it I think that maybe I should stick with the Navy. I’m still deciding though.

Another wishlist item was Schoolboy Blazer in Linen in Dark Evergreen. The fit in a 10 Petite is perfect though it’s not a 100% keeper. I love the color but am having a little trouble finding things to wear with it in my closet. It has to work with at least 3 different things to stay or it will just sit NWT.

I also grabbed the Drapey Drawsting Pant since it came to $20 in-store with the 50% off.

What little goodies did you find during the promos online/in-store?

Though it’s early, I have slowly been trying to prepare for Fall and figuring out what I would like to add to my closet. Tory Burch, the new girl in my closet, has been very successful and popular this year so I’ve decided to add to that section.

I have been eyeing the Basil Skirt for a while now and I finally ordered it with the latest staggered promo. It’s currently on sale with all sizes available. I have visions of wearing this with my Cashmere Tees. Both the Henrietta and Denise Skirts have the same A-Line shape, though not the pleated front. The size 8 is a good fit and the length is just right on me. The length states 18 1/2 inches online so taller ladies may not like that. The Henrietta Skirt has a 22 1/2 inch length, which would hit just below the knee on me. There are so many beautiful colors to pull from in this skirt.

It was so hard to choose which item in the Floral Print I wanted but I settled on the Kelly Top and I am not disappointed. The background is gray and the peplum is very subtle. I ordered a size 8 and it just fits in the wool/silk blend. I would feel much more comfortable in a size 10 so I’ve sent this back for an exchange. It has a very long zipper in the back so there’s no struggling to take it off/on.

The most wonderful detail of both the skirt and top is the lining. They are both lined in Silk! DaniBP!!! The skirt has a 100% silk lining while the top is a blend with Spandex in it. When I saw that lovely detail I knew I had some special pieces in my hands.
The Zandi Dress was not on my original wish list but it was available to try on when I was shopping a few weeks ago. I tried on a Medium and though the fit was good it seemed a little big, especially since I slipped it over my head without unzipping the side-zip. I would try a Small just to make sure it would still fit without being too tight. Of course, nothing a little Spanxing would fix. It’s also available in a Floral Print, which I love more than the dots. The jersey material is very comfortable, which is always a plus. Then length was below my knee so I’m hoping the Small will hit at or just below the knee.

Lastly, I found my new White Jean. I LOVE my Cropped Skinny Jean in Rinse and was able to find the same pair in white. I bought a size 30 as I know they will shrink just a little. They are not as see through as some others I’ve tried and I know they’ll hold up to washing and wearing like my other pair.
