The Boy is off to his first “non-birthday” party. I’m not worried because he’s a good kid and makes good decisions (most of the time). I’m a little excited for him. But mostly…I’m just sad. My baby is growing up. When he was little, time went by so slow. Now it seems like one big blur.

He went from this.

To this…

Sigh…high school is next, then driving and girls, then college and his own life. Have fun kiddo.
I’m off to convince Husband to take me to SATC 2…or shopping. Something to cheer me up.
Have a FANTASTIC evening and a GREAT holiday weekend!

Mothers Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers, grandmothers, god-mothers, mother’s-to-be, and any “mother” who has a child in their life, even if not their own precious gift. You are just as special to them as they are to you.
Enjoy your day!

I’m back from our little mini-beach vacay. It was nice to get away and relax but I forgot the first rule when laying out when it’s cloudy…sunscreen, sunscreen, SUNSCREEN. Soooo stupid of me. I put on my SPF 30 the first day but yesterday I told Husband – “I’ll put some on in a few minutes.” Then zzzzzzzz….and 45 minutes later when I woke up I was red.

I am now a slightly-tanned lobster applying aloe lotion every hour. Husband just laughs at me out of the blue. So I’ve kick-started what was to be my gradual, SPF 30+, “tanning” for the summer. But, before all that, I looked pretty cute in my J Crew Vista Paisley Bikini.

Also, I want to send “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” wishes to Kathy over at Two Hands Full of Daisies. She’s an awesome and thoughtful bloggie friend.

AND, “GOOD LUCK” to Kathy aka JCAUNC Mom who is participating in Atlanta’s 2010 Ride to Change the Future on Saturday, which is a 100-mile bike ride benefiting Ovarian Cycle. Way to go!

I’m off to raid The Boy’s closet for some Spurs gear. We are heading to the Mavs v. Spurs playoff game tonight, the last of our anniversary adventures.

I’ve been so busy these past three days and I’m EXHAUSTED! I’m off to La Playa for a few days with Husband to relax AND to celebrate our 10-year anniversary (Thursday). We’re leaving The Boy home (not alone of course) with the in-laws here to house-sit and pet-sit.

I can’t wait to get some sun!

Have a great week!

Shop Dresses Meet Our Moms

I just recently found photos of my mom and she had great style when she was younger. She has a more classic style now wearing slacks, button-downs, cardigans, etc. Here are two of my favorites (and she’s also with my dad).
I think they had just gotten engaged. I love her dress with the long scarf.
I’ve searched ebay for something similar but haven’t been lucky yet.
Here she is visiting my dad. You can’t see her shoes but they were white patent leather.
Her tights are yellow to match her outfit.
When I was in high school I was lucky enough to wear two of her dresses. One was yellow tulle that I wore to prom and the other was a white strapless dress (tulle again). We added a green satin sash and green satin around the top of the dress to give it a little color. (I’m still looking for the photos.)
Was your mom a style icon? Have you found any pictures that are your favorites, style wise?
