As I’ve mentioned during the week, Madewell opened a store in San Antonio, at the Shops at La Cantera. I arrived before the party to try on clothes. I walked the store twice and then started pulling items I wanted to wear. Once in the dressing room, I tried to make outfits with a few items. I was also able to try on some items from my picks.

I grabbed a Small in the Textured Crop Sweatshirt because it looked like it ran big on the hanger. Throughout the body it does. It’s very boxy. The shoulder is dropped and the arms are a little tight for me. Sizing to a Medium would only make the body even larger.
The Premier Skirt in Colorblock fit well in the Medium and was very comfortable on. The waistband is all elastic so it’s a nice easy pull-on style, as well as currently on sale. I like the colorblocking of black and gray, which are two colors I seem to be gravitating towards this Fall.
~ Turnout Skirt, size 8 ~
I liked the pattern and colors of the Collarless Popover in Wheaton Plaid, but even the Small ran pretty big on me. It looks pretty sloppy untucked, but my choice of bottoms wasn’t the most flattering with this shirt. It might look better with some skinnies.
I tend to stay away from Midi Skirts but loved the Turnout Skirt. I did feel it was a little too big/poofy through the hips. Unfortunately, the size 6 would close at my waist so the 8 was the best size for me, right now. The length description online states 21 1/4 inches but I felt it was at least 23 inches. It certainly looks better on me with heels than flats. The mesh insets are an interesting detail to set this apart from being a plain poofy skirt. Though I wish this skirt had worked out for me, overall it is a pass. It wasn’t marked with a sale price in-store but online it does show to be $79.99.
~ Chevron Crop Sweater, Antique Cream, Small ~
~ Boulevard Skirt, Antique Cream, size 8 ~
I grabbed the wrong size in the Chevron Crop Sweater. The Small is way too tight in the arms, though the waist is a nice slim fit. I would probably get this in the Heather Bark in a Medium. This a cropped sweater but on me it covered the top of the skirt well. I’m sure it would look more cropped in a low-rise or slouchy boyfriend jean. Really cute but a pass for me.

The Boulevard Skirt with it’s little ruffle hem is really nice, though the size 8 just fit. I might go back and try on the size 10 to see if that was a little more comfortable. This is a mini skirt and also comes in dark gray, which is the color I’d probably get. This skirt is not something I’m looking to add to my closet but would look cute with tights and boots.

The Turnout Skirt was my favorite of these outfits. I may need to go back and try it on with a different top.

I just wanted to share a few pictures from the Madewell Store opening Tuesday.

I arrived a little early and was able to try on several items. By the time I was done the party was about to start. I timed it perfectly!
I did try on a few items from the picks I posted on Monday and brought one of them home with me. I cannot wait to share!

San Antonio is finally getting a Madewell store and it opens tomorrow, Oct 21! I have been waiting months for this store. I have only been into one store, last year during my California trip. The closest one to me right now is about an hour and 15 minutes away. As of tomorrow, it will be 10 minutes away, and across the street from J Crew, at the Shops at La Cantera.

I should probably leave my wallet at home tomorrow since new arrivals at J Crew are expected this week as well. But, below are some items I am excited to see in-store.

Textured Crop Sweatshirt – I don’t think this will be very cropped on me and I like the longer hem in the back. The dropped shoulders are the only thing that makes me wary of this sweatshirt.

Penfield® Stokes Plaid Shirt – There was a similar one offered at J Crew this Summer that sold out really quick, and pop-backs were a tease. That one was a pop-over and this one is a full button-down.

Halfmoon Layering Necklace – I don’t wear jewelry much but this layered necklace looks interesting enough to wear daily.

The Perfect Tunic in Tipped Silk – This is one of the items I am most interested in seeing IRL; in this color. I’m hoping it doesn’t disappoint.

The Berliner Satchel – This bag is very similar to my Bisbee Satchel from 2010. Though I don’t use it as much these days, I still love it and am so glad I bought it. A darker color in the same style would be nice to have.

Leather-Pocket T-Shirt Dress – This dress look so simple and cute and easy to just throw-on-and-go. I really hope I get to see it IRL.

The Otis Boot in Shearling – I have the Short Chalet Boot from a few years ago and love it. Now, it’s losing the shearling in the footbed and I am not sure what to do. The sole is still great as is the shearling everywhere else. I picked the Short Chalet Boot because they were not as wide-looking as Uggs. The Otis Boot seems to have a harder sole but might be able to replace my Chalet Boots.

I am really hoping I can make it to the Grand Opening Party at 7 p.m. but I have to be out-of-town for the day so I may not make it back. If not, I’ll head there sometime during the week when most people are in school or at work.

Anyone else in San Antonio excited about Madewell opening? Anyone going to the store opening tomorrow?

I bit hard on the 40% off Final Sale last week at Madewell. I didn’t really look at anything until then so I didn’t have a wishlist prepared. Not very smart considering everything I bought was Final Sale. Let’s see if I liked them all.

Linen Palm Tee, Medium ~

I liked the blue sky in this tee along with the palms. I like that the Linen is not very sheer. The Medium is a nice fit but not too slouchy.
Silk Shadeview Dip-Dye Cami, size 6  ~

I like this little cami for layering under blazers this Fall. The size 6 is well-fitting and I’m glad I chose it as the size 8 would have been really big and not returnable. I’ll probably wear this with the Toothpick in Destructed Miller Wash and my Navy Puff-Sleeve Blazer with booties of some kind.

Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank, size Medium ~

I loved this tank immediately out of the package. The linen is a little thicker. The Medium is a nice fit but I’ll definitely send this to the cleaners. If this shrinks I don’t think it will fit. A Large would have made it look really boxy through the waist. I wore this over the weekend with my Pleated Crepe Shorts in Black. I’ll wear this through the Fall as well with a black or blue blazer.
Kasbah Top,Medium ~

This received a lot of love from everyone and I was finally able to grab it in a Medium. I think I could have sized to a Small in it though. I didn’t realize how sheer it was though. And it’s probably more noticeable on me because of my tan and skin-tone.
~ Lightstitch Blouse, Small ~

The hippie in me loves little peasant blouses. I like that this one was black with a little embroidery here and there. But this is very sheer. The first pic I took I used flash and that was crazy see-through. The non-flash is a little less but I think it will require a black cami underneath. The Small fits ok. I didn’t really do anything with it in these pics so it just looks like it’s hanging there. The Medium might have had a nicer flow throughout but I can work with the Small that I have.

Pleated Shirtstripe Skirt, size 6 ~

I debated between ordering this skirt and the Indigo Shibori Linen Skirt. This one won out. The size 6 is sitting at my waist so I’d say it runs TTS. I liked the pleating as well. I was hoping they wouldn’t bulge out too much. Gigi reviewed it too.

My favorite is the Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank. I could have sized up in the Lightstitch Blouse and passed on the Kasbah Top. I also bought the Seagauze Pleat Tank in both White and Black but they are very very sheer and I couldn’t find my camis to go under them. They fit TTS in the Medium that I bought but, again, will definitely need an under layer to wear.

I hope your Madewell Final Sale purchases worked out for you!
