See my other recent reviews here and here. Be warned..lace, crochet and sheer. Oh My!

Crocheted Lace Tank, size Small, Haven Blue – This tank is not my style but seems to be popular. It comes in three colors. The other two are Heather Fog and Sweet Vanilla. I do like it with it paired with the Light Citron Lace-Stripe Skirt. The Small was a good fit and I wouldn’t size to my normal Medium. Overall, a pass for me.

Lace-Sleeve Sweatshirt, size Medium – Blech! Seriously, I think this is hideous. The CFS says they took organza from a wedding & party dress and put it on a sweatshirt. Do you know how quickly this lace will tear or snag? It’s why it’s on a wedding dress…because it’s only worn once. Well, twice, since you take pictures in it too. I’ve seen this layered with a button-down underneath and it doesn’t look any better. Sorry to bash it because it will appeal to some people but this is another item I wouldn’t buy on deep discount with a promo.

Metallic Linen V-Neck Sweater, Small -Now I really liked this sweater, even before I put it on. It’s very boxy and sheet but I like how it looked over the Silk Crepe Maxidress. It will require a cami underneath but for a night out this will be cute to wear, maybe with the Factory Coral Tweed Shorts. I have a some vacations in the next few months where this outfit will do nicely. There is a panel at the sleeve that is more sheer than the rest of the sweater. I guess to give it some contrast? It’s supposed to be relaxed so size down.

Perfect Shirt in Crosshatch Linen, size 6, Lemon Pulp – I have several colors of the Perfect Shirt in Linen in various sizes as well (6, 8, 8P). This fits fine in a 6 but I probably should have taken my normal size 8. It’s not that bad except for my problem areas (shoulders/arms). The Lemon Pulp is pretty bright but love that this will punch up any white, navy or black bottom this Summer.

Merino Silk-Panel Sweater in Windowpane Floral, size Small – I like the Silk-Panel sweaters because they are easy to throw on over a pair of jeans and heels and go. I feel comfortable but still chic in them. This one is called Heather Dove and look like a very light Pewter. I’m on the fence about this one though. I’m not sure I like the color against my skin-tone. It will hang out in my closet until I make my final decision.

Linen Cubist Print Tee, Small – I ordered this as a ride-along and love the colors in it. It doesn’t look too bad with the Collection Pyramid Brocade Short either. The only thing is I thought I ordered a Medium so I’ll have to be careful when washing this to make sure it doesn’t shrink.

Sorry I’m a bit of hater for this last roll-out. I wasn’t really feeling any of the Lace/Crochet/Seersucker items that showed up. And I have to add Sweatshirts to my “Go Away Already” list. That list includes exposed zippers, dropped shoulder seams and 5+ inch heels. Certain trends just need to run it’s course and go away. You know, like acid washed jeans, neon everything, rubber bracelets and claw bangs.

Hope you enjoyed these reviews. I have some Factory reviews coming up next.

More reviews from the mid-March roll-out. This time skirts and shorts.

The Lace-Stripe Skirt comes in three colors. My store had the Light Citron and White but not the one I wanted, Strawberry Rose. The Light Citron is bright but a beautiful yellow. I’m wearing a size 6 in the Light Citron and an 8 in the White. Honestly, both fit well. There was just a little difference in the length and the 6 sat at my waist while the 8 was a little lower. The pleats are nice and don’t seem to add any extra weight. I’d probably order the 6 in the Strawberry Rose.

I love white skirts for Summer. I have one from Kate Spade I found at the Outlet a few years ago. This one is really cute but there’s no need for two white skirts in my closet, right?

Esplanade Skirt in Seersucker Eyelet, size 6 – I’m not digging this seersucker eyelet on anything. And the drop-waist followed by pleats on this skirt are hideous on me. I would definitely size to an 8 if I thought about getting it but I won’t. The concept of the Merino Sweater in Seersucker Eyelet just baffles me. I just can’t grasp my head around Merino Wool and Seersucker…together. That’s just not Summer to me. Can you tell I’m not a big fan of this roll-out? I know some people will love the sweater and this skirt but a big ol’ pass for me.

Pleated Crepe Short, size 6 – This is the Byzantine Purple but looks blue on my screen. Anyway, they are purple and I was surprised the 6 fit well in the waist and hips. I’m a size 8 in all shorts so sizing up in this short would making it really baggy and unflattering. I’d probably get the black or navy in these as this seems like a dressier short.

Collection Pyramid Brocade Short, size 8 – I really like these shorts. They fit well in my normal size 8. Though the website states these area a 3-inch inseam they are sitting on my hips which provides more coverage. Of course if I sit down anywhere that is not a smooth surface I will snag these like crazy, so I’ll need to be careful when wearing them. I like these better than the Factory Metallic Brocade Shorts I ended up returning. {review}

And styled with the Merino Silk-Panel Sweater. The colors go though I really wouldn’t wear a Merino sweater with shorts.

The Lace-Stripe Skirt is one I really like and would love to get it in the Strawberry Rose color. And I am pretty sure I’m keeping the Collection Pyramid Brocade Shorts.
Have you tried any of these yet?

Again, making returns to the retail store I checked out some of the March/April new arrivals. I was returning the Schoolboy Blazer in Tipped Linen {review} because I scored it on promo plus 40% off, making it $99! So I ordered the White one as well. Review coming soon!

Eyelet Shirtdress, Navy in size 6 and Neon Kiwi in Size 8 – I like the idea of a shirtdress but prefer those that have a defined waist of some kind. The Eyelet Shirtdress is a straight shift silhouette and is cute. The size 6 is the better fit but I love the Neon Kiwi color. I’m a little confused by J Crew as to why eyelet, seersucker, and lace are being introduced in Spring and not Summer. I’m not inclined to buy it now, which I guess is a good thing because when Summer weather does roll around this will be on sale.

I’m sure you could belt this and not be worried about the length. Your bra-straps will show at the shoulders but if you wear a nude bra then it will hardly be noticed. I take a 6 or 8 depending on the style of dress. I’m a 6 in shift and straight silhouettes, like the ones in this post, and an 8 in structured, waist-defining shapes, like the Scallop Crepe Dress or the Split-Neck Dress. To me this dress fits TTS. If you are like me and vary with two sizes then take the smaller size. Others who are consistent should stay in their normal size.

Pink Geo Shirtdress, size 6 – My VPS said this is an “Audrey Dress”. I’d have to agree. I love the pattern, multi-color and shape. The length hits just above the knee but might be a little more fun a few inches shorter. It was very comfortable on and I could see myself wearing it until the hot temps came along. That poly lining would be horrendous at 100 degrees outside. The print also comes in a Shirt and Skirt, neither of which I’m a fan of, at a glance. The shirt looks big and boxy and the skirt is Poly. See the dress and shirt on my Fit Twin!

Silk Crepe Maxidress, size Small – This dress was a completely unexpected LOVE! This comes in black, Brilliant Blueberry and Neon Papaya. I never would have noticed this if it weren’t in-store as it is in the Beach Cover-Up section online. The Small is a great fit and I almost considered trying an XS if it weren’t for my belly pouching out just a little. The length is perfect; no hemming needed. It is a bit sheer, since it’s meant to be a cover-up but a light cotton slip or nude lingerie should help with that. I like that the straps are wider and not spaghetti skinny. There are bra keeps as well. The back does dip a lower than my bra but again, this is being sold as a cover-up not a DressDress.

Here are two styling options I came up with in the dressing room for both colors of the dress. The first top is the Perfect Shirt in Crosshatch Linen in Lemon Pulp and the second is the Metallic Linen V-Neck Sweater.

Have a Great Day!

J Crew rolled out more Spring today and a few of those items were in my store last week.

The Silk-Cat Print Blouse is really cute and great to just throw on and go. It’s made it to sale and I was able to find plenty in-store. This is a size 8 and how I’d probably wear it. Super casual, un-tucked with the sleeves rolled up.

This next cotton blouse is the Jeweled Bow Top. It comes in White and Navy Striped, below. It’s a boxy, straight silhouette with a Rhinestone Bow in front. It has a single button in the back. This is a size 8. Again, it’s boxy, tight sleeves are an issue for me and though the Bow in front is cute it’s just a little plain.

The Bow, up close…

The Striped Blue version…

I really liked the black version of the Linen These Are The Days Graphic Tee. I have on a Medium but I did end up passing on this for two reasons. One, I love my Madewell Los Angeles Linen Tee {pin}, also in black. And, two, all the other Graphic Tees are now on sale so I’m sure this one will be there soon too.

I liked the look and concept of the Vintage Cotton Silk Back Tee but when I turned to the side, it was a big ol’ mess. I’m wearing a Medium and from the side looked like I was due any day.

The Vintage Cotton Tee in Weekdays comes in both Black and Pearl Oyster. I have on a Medium here and it’s quite comfortable. I believe it’s cotton. The Black version has the days in French and the Ivory version has them in Spanish. A pass for me but I’m sure it will be a hit. I may grab it if it makes it to sale.

The Silky Chambray Tunic, size Small, is touted as a beach cover-up. The only other place I’d wear this tunic would be to sleep. It is very soft and comfortable but $66 for a beach tunic is a pass for me. I was also hoping the placket and arm cuff contrasted a little more like the online image. This is a good size but I could have sized to an XS as far a cover-up goes. Returning this one.

Of the new arrivals today, the Lace Stripe Skirt in Strawberry Rose is the only thing I would consider buying. All the eyelet and seersucker and lace is just too much for Spring, and one roll-out, IMO. I preferred some of the Factory arrivals from the Early Access today.

Have a Great Day!

Whoops, I goofed. It looks like my scheduler published this post before I added my pics. Sorry about that. Here is the full review.

I have been lusting over Metallic shoes for quite some time. I really wanted the Martina in Silver Metallic but keep missing them when a promo arrives. I decided to try the Lillian Mirror Metallic Low Wedges in Metallic Silver. I have the Collection Lillian in Calf-Hair from last Summer in my normal size 7 but that’s a little big on me. This time I ordered a 6 1/2.

The size is perfect. I always feel like my foot is going to slip out when wearing my Leopard ones.

Though a skinny wedge, it is low enough to walk in them all day without discomfort. The ankle straps are adjustable and don’t cut into the skin at all. There is a little gap between my heel and the heel of the shoe but I think that should be expected.

I love the Silver Metallic. They will be perfect for Spring and definitely Summer. I already outfits create around these sandals, one of which includes the Factory Scalloped Shift Dress in Pale Citrus. They even look cute with rolled-cuff boyfriend jeans.
I ordered these with the 25% off Cardmember promo. It would have been nice to get them on sale but since I have plans to wear these many times over the Summer I know my CPW will come down quickly in the next 6 months.
Happy Shoes-day!
