My VPS made me try on this track pant. I wasn’t a fan of them on the hanger and only a little less when I tried them on. They are cute and apparently there’s a mens’ version of this pant too. But, I think they best on someone with slim hips and thighs. I avoid “tapers at the leg” because of the ice-cream-cone look. As far as fit, I went with a size 6 and that fit well. There wasn’t any pulling at the hips and the waist has a drawstring so no issues there. The ankle is elastic but you can’t tell so much on me as the length is at the floor. 
  
~ Cuffed Lightweight Pant in Chambray, size 6 ~
I was very interested in these Chambray Pants when they came out online. The Chambray is very lightweight and will make a great pant for Summer. I did notice when putting them on that they were tight on my calf when I flexed. “That’s odd”, is what I thought to myself. They fit well in the size 6 but felt a little tight when I moved around. 
  

I decided to sit down to see how they fit since they felt snug upon movement. Sure enough, the cotton-linen-denim material is not very stretchy and really tight on my thighs and calves. This means I would have to size up to an 8 and have them tailored in the length. The elastic hem already hits the floor so I would need to decide if I wanted to salvage that or just crop it off. And since I already have the Chambray pant from the Factory from last year, it would look like I had two pairs, though slightly different in color. I was really disappointed these didn’t fit overall. And they do not come in Petite sizing either. I do suggest taking your true size in pants unless you have more athletic legs, then you may want to size up.

I was very interested in the print and texture of the pant but there was only a size 6 to try on. I definitely need an 8 in these since I couldn’t even button them. I might even Petite 10 because they are pretty slim. Overall a pass for me. Try these on if you can and probably size up one. 
I loved the Midi Skirt in this print but knew it wouldn’t work for me due to the length so I was very happy to see this also came in a short. I originally thought the eyelet border was navy but it’s actually black. The background of the eyelet is pink. I haven’t wavered from a size 8 in shorts for several years now and that is still the case with these shorts. I really liked the short and can see why the Midi Skirt is getting great reviews online.
  
Of everything I tried on, I bought the Punched-Out Eyelet Short. It’s the one thing I know I’ll wear through the Spring and Summer.

On to March roll-out. I liked items from this roll-out a lot more than February, especially the Graphic Peony Reese Pants and Top.

~ Scattered Floral Sequin Shell, White, size 8 ~
I liked the visual interest of this top in both the White and Rustic Mint (below). The flowers on the White are pink with grey. They seem to be into rounded hems right now which I think is a good thing. I knew just from seeing it on the hanger that I would need an 8 in this top. That size is a good fit and anything smaller would be really tight.

The flowers on the Rustic Mint are Coral/Orange with Pink. It looks like a very pretty combination with the Mint green fabric.

Unfortunately, I think the embellishment will be covered up at the shoulder quite a bit with a blazer. A cardigan would be a better option to show off this pretty top. I’m not in need of an embellished top right now as I have a few others from seasons past that work well for now.

Madewell had their March roll-out this week. From what I’ve been told in the past, they have new arrivals a week after J Crew. I’ve been more interested in Madewell since we had a store open late last year. I try to at least walk-through when I stop at J Crew since it is right across the street.

I like the Medallion Print but have tried on a similar styled tee before from Madewell that fit awful. The arms were way too tight and sizing up only made the body even bigger. That won’t stop me from trying on the Silk Refined Tee in Medallion Print.

Can we get a YAY for wide-leg pants please? I have always loved them, especially when they are cropped so I’m really hoping the Highsmith Trousers work for me. I probably look really short in them but with heels I think they are fabulous.

The Shirred Maxi Dress looks so promising. I think because of the shirring and pleating I’ll be able to size to a Small. I like that the lining stops at the knee, though I’m not sure how sheer the white dress will look.

I have yet to add a pair of Madewell shoes to my closet but The Thea Sandal in Suede and the Vivian D’Orsay Loafer both look promising.

Rounding out the February launch are a few shirts, including the Indigo Gauze Popover I wore with the Slim Cargo Pants.

This top was one of my original picks from the February roll-out. I was finally able to try it on and I really like it, from the front. I just do no like the side zippers. They ruined a perfectly nice embellished shirt with stupid zippers. That trend needs to go too. I’m sure I’ll be praising zippers on the side when it’s 100 degrees out and I’m trying to cool off. 
The size 6 was a very nice fit. Because it’s sleeveless there wasn’t an issue with fitting the arms. There’s no pulling across the chest. The beading seems to be pretty secure as well. I liked it except for the zippers. I did bring it home to see if it would change my mind but it hasn’t. 

~ Corded Popover Tunic in Blue Stripe, size 6 ~

I really liked this popover. This felt a like a linen blend but is a cotton-blend. The size 6 is a good fit and I wouldn’t size up though the arms do look a little snug when I bend them. I’ll just keep my arms at the side instead. 

The v-neck is not too low cut and the hems are split with a rounded shape. I actually see this more as a swim cover-up so I’ll wait until it’s on sale with a promo to reconsider it.

~ Floral Sailor Tee, Medium ~
That was fast. This tee, and it’s Metallic sister, are now on sale. The Medium fit well but with the drop-shoulder and three-quarter length sleeves make it just ok for me. The Metallic Sailor Tee might be more interesting with the Metallic Flowers and reverse stripes (Navy over white). 

~ Drapey Oxford Crepe Popover, Pale Blue, Small ~
This looked to run big on the hanger so I grabbed a Smmall. This was another one of my picks from the February roll-out in the Navy. I really liked this shirt on, though not this specific color as much. The Small fit pretty well and didn’t have much of an exaggerated drop-shoulder. 

It felt more of a cotton-blend than the Tencel. Since it’s blended with Viscose I know I’ll shrink it at some point so it’s a pass for me.

~ Indigo Gauze Popover, size 6 ~

Huge fan of this popover. The size 8 was HUGE on me. The size 6 is a much better fit all over. I might have been able to get into a size 4 but this drapes fairly well in the 6 so I stuck with that size. The color is pretty saturated IRL though be careful about color transfer. 

The gauze is not see-through and is very lightweight. I tucked in the shirt when I wore it but it will look fine un-tucked as well.

I think that wraps up most of February’s roll-out. It’s been crazy-busy here with the outside construction, inside re-decorating and helping plan two baby showers. I’ll be glad when things slow down a little.

I grabbed these two skirts right before going into the dressing room. They weren’t really on my radar for purchasing but I want to share how these look IRL on me.

~ Laser-Cut Skirt, Dusty Alabaster, size 6 ~
The style of this skirt is similar to a favorite of mine, the Pleated Lattice Skirt. The front wide waist area does not have the lattice-work on it though. The pleating on the lower section is similar as well as the fit. The skirt does fit in the size 6 but I would feel more comfortable in the size 8 (not one to try on). The color isn’t all that great for me either. I’m not really a pink fan but I loved the Distressed Quartz of the Pleated Lattice Skirt since it was little darker pink and still flattering on my skin tone.  

The laser-cut looks more like perforations than laser-cuts to me. I think the laser-cuts should have been made to look like diamonds or another shape instead of dots all over. The material is poly, though from a distance I thought it was pleather.

~ Metallic Pleated Midi Skirt, Navy, size 8 ~
I wanted to love the Metallic Pleated Midi Skirt. But without or with “heels” I just can’t get the hemline to raise just a little. I just don’t think Midi Skirts are flattering on me. I feel dumpy and really short in them, even when I have heels on. So I just stay away from them altogether. This is one of those trends that doesn’t want my participation. 
  

Another foot of material and this would be a maxi skirt for me. The size 8 was the best fit for me. I vary between a 6 and 8 depending on the style of the skirt and the waistband. This one has no give so a size 8 works. If you are between sizes, go with your larger size.

Shiny with the flash but not as much IRL.

If you can wear a Midi Skirt, Yay for you! I recommend this one. I think it will go with a lot of items and the metallic is a different sheen to play with.
