Here’s the second option I tried on of the Violet Poppy print, the A-Line Mini Skirt. I reviewed the Patio Pant in that print here.
I’ve tried this on several times and the size 6 fits much better. I keep thinking I don’t have a need for this shirt but then during casual days I feel like I need another solid top or two.
~ Relaxed Wool Turtleneck Sweater with Ribbed Trim, Small, Bright Orchid ~
I need to adjust this sweater a little better but I like the fit of the Small, even with the drop-shoulder seam. I tried to capture the true color but the online image seems to be pretty accurate. It goes very well with this skirt.
~ A-Line Mini Skirt in Violet Poppy, size 8 ~
I wear an 8 in mini skirts and this fit well. I felt this skirt was a bit high-waisted as the top hit above my natural waistline. The length still hit just above the knee. There are some subtle colors in the poppy to pull and wear on top including yellow ad green.
I’m such a super fan of this print and have plans to wear it with the Gemma Glitter Flats and my Bronson Booties from a few years ago.
All the Violet Poppy options…
I found several colors to wear with the Violet Poppy print. The Wool Blazer in Olive Green is a little questionable but might work.
I bought the skirt over the Patio Pants, since I wear skirts more but now I’m questioning my purchase. It seems ridiculous for someone who’s daily wear is jeans, flats, and a top to buy a skirt and pant in the same print but it’s really in my head.
What do you think of the Violet Poppy print? What colors would you pick to wear on top? Do you think I made the right decision in getting the Skirt over the Pants?
I love the skirt! Good choice I think, it has a perfect a-line shape, looks terrific with so many colours and will be a pretty and easy outfit option for you. It looks amazing on you in the photos, it's really flattering.
Thanks for the reviews 🙂
Dani – Thank you! The A-Line is one of my favorite skirt shapes. I love all the colors I was able to go with this printed skirt too.
I like the skirt option on you better. you are lucky that being petite the skirt hits you at such a perfect length. it is way to short for me. the patio pants ….too long I think . and being petite for you to shorten them would not hit your leg/ankle at the most flattering point. thanks for all your photos and detailed reviews….your one of the few bloggers who still do it. I appreciate it so much !! Carolyn
You're welcome Carolyn. I love doing reviews though I wish I had the time to branch out to other stores right now. I do like that the mini skirts hit me right where I like. The Patio Pants are long considering they are supposed to be cropped in the regular length.
I like the skirt better on you, too-I think you made the right choice. If you keep thinking about the pant, and think it might end up being your one that got away, you can always keep an eye on the stock in your size. And/or you can buy before final sale (preferable online for the longer return window) and leave the tags on. If you don't wear them right away, you'll know you made the right decision…
Wendy – I did add the pant to my wishlist. Maybe if I still like them when they go to sale I will get them. Thanks for visiting!
You definitely made the right choice, the skirt is so much more flattering on you than the pants (they didn't look like a patio style at all). I would get that top too ;-). Maybe you can get the scarf since you really like the print (you could even wear it with the skirt)
Ema – Thanks! I think I will be getting the scarf. It will go well with all the blazers and tops I styled with the skirt.
I think the pants are too much print. The skirt is just the right amount and will look more timeless for longer. I love your Lexington blazer and Wool Oxford blazer pairings with the skirt! I think a black jacket would also look great with this. =) I have both of those jackets too only my Wool Oxford is in the Liberty Blue colorway which was a very recent Poshmark purchase (I finally found one in my size and for such a better price than on eBay!).
Hi Margaret! I love my Lexington Blazers and have the black and Ivory as well! Unless it's really really cold, those are all I wear in Winter. I'm glad you were able to find the Liberty Blue Wool Oxford. Those are so hard to find. I had the Atomic Orange but never wore it so I sold it to fellow JCA.
The black and ivory lexington would look gorgeous with this due to the contrasting white and black in the skirt print. I'm thinking I need to see this one in the store. The scarf looks great.
Ha! I was the recipient/buyer of that orange Oxford blazer and it is one of my prized items. The only thing in my closet that hangs in a protective bag 🙂 I'm still searching for the other colors occasionally, but am happy with the one I do have. Thanks, AudreyBella!
