Starting today, you can take 40% off at LOFT, no code needed. And there is 60% off sale items. Lou & Grey items are excluded. I received the rest of my order on Wednesday so let’s take a look at how they all fit.

~ Rabbit Sweater, Medium ~

This sweater is a pretty snug fit in my normal Medium. I was hoping for a little slouch or looseness. The color is a beautifully saturated green. I think the color was described as Teal Green. This is sold out online but you may be able to find it in-stores. The rabbits are cute, maybe a little too cute for me. I do love the color though. I’m on the fence with this one.

~ Ivy Softened Shirt, Medium ~

I was intrigued by the “softened” shirt, especially since the reviews are very positive. I ordered both the Ivy and the Tunic (below) in a Medium. The Ivy Softened Shirt fit well in the Medium though it was pretty loose and boxy from below the chest down. The shirt is soft and is 100% cotton. I am sure it will soften even more as it is washed. This shirt is sheer so nude bra would be best underneath.

~ Crisp Softened Tunic, Medium ~

I liked this one a little more as since it is a bit more structured than the Ivy Softened Shirt. This is not 100% cotton but has 3% spandex in it. This is tunic length and falls well below the hips, almost providing full coverage in the back. I would prefer another inch to wear with leggings though. I have a white shirt on my shopping list and feel this one will work for now. You can see this one is a bit see-through as well.

Here are a few more softened shirts for you.

I’ll have a review of the Wide-Leg Trousers later today.

Today only J Crew Factory has a promo for 25% off your purchase with code CHECKOUT. Some prices stayed the same from the last promo but some went up. The Denim Trouser below went up another $2. This time I would have saved about $15 but since I may possibly exchange one item I am not going to bother with a price adjustment this time.

~ Denim Trouser, size 8 ~

These are exactly what I’m looking for; non-skinny, wide-leg, dark wash trouser jeans. Perfect for date night, especially during these colder month and great for the office. I chose a size 8 and they fit fine to a little loose in the waist and hips. Not a lot but enough that when they stretch out from wear might look a bit saggy. I am hoping to stop by the store this weekend and will try on a size 6 if they are available.

I’ve lightened the image so you can see how long they are on me. I tucked them under several times and will probably need to have about 6 inches, at least, removed. It looks like the line of the leg won’t be affected, but I’ll confirm that with the tailor.

~ Slim Cable-Knit V-Neck Sweater, Small ~

This 100% Cotton sweater can be found in the men’s section. I am normally a Medium in Women’s tops and sweaters and the Small fit good to a little big. You can see the sleeves are very long and the length could be an inch shorter. I will see if there’s an XS in store but I kind of like how slouchy it is now. Even though it’s 100% cotton, I’ll probably find a way to shrink it so the Small might be best.

There was an issue with both of these items though. The smell. They both must have been dipped in formaldehyde or something. It had an overpowering chemical smell, even through the bag it came in. I had to put both items outside to air out. I hope the store doesn’t smell that way.

Here are a few more items I’m browsing during this promo.

Is there anything that’s caught your eye?

I tried on several dresses over two fitting room visits to Ann Taylor. Currently, the have a 40% off promo with code WEEKEND.

~ Sleeveless Shirtdress, Navy, size 8 ~

I love the cut and style of shirt dresses. I try to stick with sleeveless styles as the ones with sleeves are usually a little snug in the arms for me. The size 8 was perfect on me. The pleats on the skirt don’t create a whole amount of fullness. The pockets are hidden in the mix of the pleats. This also comes in Hot Tropical Coral. I saw that color in store as well and though it would go well with my skin tone, I will stick with the Navy. There’s also a Denim Shirtdress that has a pencil skirt bottom. I know I’d need an 8 or Petite 10 in that as it looks very lean and small in the arms.

~ Striped Double V Sheath Dress, Small –

This is a fitted knit dress fit well in the Small. I don’t mind the length going past the knee but would like to try the Petite Medium to see if the length will hit me closer to the knee. There are vertical stripes on the side, breaking up the front horizontal stripes, and, in my opinion, create some shape. This was another of my favorites that I tried and made me long for Spring to come quickly. I can see wearing this with flat sandals or heeled espadrilles.

~ Spacedye Flare Dress, Small ~

I wasn’t too sure about this dress on the hanger. I kind of liked the spacedye pattern but didn’t know how it would look when I tried it on. I’m still on the fence with the dress since the pattern is horizontal on top and vertical on the skirt. The Small of this fitted dress fit fine though I think I would prefer the Medium a little more. The length is just below the knee for me so a Medium would be a little longer. There’s also a midi skirt in the same pattern.  I think, even on sale, this dress is a pass for me.

~ Tweed Shift Dress, size 6 ~

This dress is currently on sale and you can take an additional 60% off, not 40%. I liked this dress and the fit of the 6 was good, especially through the hips. I like the color mix of the tweed and it’s not very thick. If I worked in an office this would definitely be in constant rotation since it would be so easy to just add a Navy Blazer. It also has a matching tweed jacket.

~ Midweight Striped Boatneck Tee, Cherry Red/Ivory, Medium ~

This next tee is what started the Stripe Sickness. The Cherry Red is a true red and very saturated in person. I have maybe two items in red and this will be the third. This also comes in Navy as well as a Colorful version, which is Jade/Navy/Ivory. The Medium fit well through the shoulders and arms but is boxy through the body. I don’t think I could size down to the small without stretching the arms and chest some.

~ Patio Pant, Vanilla White, size 6 ~

I’ve tried these on several times, in different sizes. I tried on the 6 and 8 this time and only found a difference in the waist and hips. The length was still about the same. I think $30 is a good price for them to then add a $10-12 hem job (I can’t do it myself). If suspect the white may move back to full-price once Spring rolls around. That and the Navy are great staples for Spring.

They both look great with the Gemma Flats in Stripe (still not online).

A few more Red, White and Stripes options for you. I think the Halogen Flats are my favorite.

I really love this Cherry color of the Midweight Striped Boatneck Tee. I may even have an opportunity to wear it this weekend when Husband and I go antiquing in the Hill Country.

~ Striped Boatneck Tunic, Heather Slate Black, Medium ~

This is the Medium in the Boatneck Tunic. At the time, I felt more comfortable in the Medium but now think the Small would be fine as well. I like this colorway as well but am partial to navy. I rarely wear black and prefer navy if I wear a dark color.

~ Collection Cropped Wide-Leg Trouser in Check Jacquard, size 10 ~

These were a return and I grabbed them for fun to try on. I figured the 10 would be big on me but because these have several pleats, they actually fit very well. I love the check jacquard pattern and material and the 21-inch inseam is perfectly cropped on me. Because the pleats are in front and not near the sides of the pants, I don’t feel they add any visual weight to the hips. These are sold out online but if you are looking for pop-backs and in-between sizes I would definitely take the larger of your two. There are some similar pants in Italian Satin and there’s the Wool Culotte in Sequin.

JC_CropCheckJacquardTrouser

In case you were thinking of wearing a top over the pants. Normally, pleats would puff out on any top I wore over the bottom but they don’t with these pants. Everything still looks a bit slimmed down.
