A short review today of some of the new tees.

~ On Island Time Tee, Medium ~

I liked this in the Style Guide and online but when I received it I felt the letters had more of an iron-on feel and could peel off after a few washes. This fits TTS but is a pass for me.

~ Salut! Tee, Medium ~

One image in the Style Guide shows this to be purple and it looks like that to me on my monitor but it’s more of a blue. The fit is TTS in this one.

~ Made in the Shade Tee, Small ~
~ Ruffle Skirt in Cotton Poplin, White, 8P ~

The small fit well in this linen tee so I would suggest sizing down one. I needed a new white skirt as my Kate Spade a-line skirt has gotten a little dingy. The 8P fits well in the waist and hips though I do wish it was about two inches shorter. The white is bright and crisp and it is lined. I’m still on the fence about the ruffle and thinking maybe I just want a pencil skirt without any fuss.

~ Tippi Sweater in Embroidered Palm, Medium ~

This is such a cute sweater. All the black you see is embroidered. It’s already so warm but I will find a way to wear this a few times this “Spring” and Summer.

Super quick today. If you’re shopping the BIGSALE all of these items are 30% off!

~ Off-the-Shoulder Ruffle Bodysuit, Ocean Ivory, Medium ~
~ Ruffle Wrap Skirt in Cotton Poplin, Bright Peri, size 6 ~

This is the Medium in the Bodysuit. I really did find the fit almost the same as the small. There is a good amount of stretch in this bodysuit and I do like the stripes on this one. The skirt is one we saw from Fashion Week and I thought it would be a little more Cha-Cha-Cha than this. I have on a size 6 which is a good fit. The waistband has two sets of button holes so you can adjust the sizing a little. I believe I had mine to make it a little more snug so it could be loosened if needed. There’s too much fabric and it’s too long for me. I did expect the price to be about $50 higher than it is, pre-promo, so it is a good price IMO. I just don’t know if you want all that fabric for Summer.

~ Eyelet Shirtdress, Navy, size 6 ~

My store received all three colors in this shirtdress and the Warm Clover was sold out except for a 2 on the mannequin. I was disappointed in the fit on this. I should have lightened the photo but the skirt is too full for me and the top is a little loose. I think it runs a little big and maybe an 8P would be a better fit. I did find a few other shirtdresses in my closet I haven’t worn so I am all stocked up on them and don’t need another. If you can get your right fit this will be really cute in the White with some fun sandals. The length is long so try a Petite size if you want it shorter.

The lining is sown into the dress and not a separate piece. That is fantastic! And it still has bra keeps!

~ One-Shoulder Dress in Eyelet, Black, size 6 ~

Just like the One-Shoulder Eyelet Top, this dress runs big. I finally got the size right in the top (size 4) but it then became a little too cropped and short in length. I originally ordered a size 8P in this dress, and failed to get pics. That fit well in the top portion with no gaping but was crazy short, just like the 8P in the Fringe Dress that I ordered. The length in the size 6 on this one-shoulder dress was great but the top portion was loose. I am holding the dress up on the side with my arm. It gaps about 3 inches and you can see that a little bit in the side photo.

Also, one thing to note, is though this dress is lined, it’s not fully lined.See those little holes/eyelets all in a row. That’s not lining underneath it, but my hand. The row of eyelets go all the way up the dress and are at the waist.

So it was a bit of a strike out on all these items. I don’t have a need for any dresses but I did find one that happened to be a returned that I absolutely loved! More to come on Sunday!

J.Crew’s latest promo is 30% off select (most) items with code BIGSALE. This includes 40% off sale items and 50% off Final Sale items. I was in-store last week and was able to try quite a few things on. Everything reviewed below is included in this promo.

~ Off-the-Shoulder Bodysuit, Navy, Small ~
~ Tie-Waist Short in Chambray, Size 8 ~

I never shared a review of it but I did end up purchasing the Featherweight Cashmere Bodysuit in both the gray and navy. The navy was on back-order so I won’t have a chance to wear it unless we get another cool night but I did wear the Gray a few times and absolutely love it. The cashmere is supersoft and though the buttons are an inconvenience when having to go to the bathroom the bodysuit fit great in a Medium. I cannot wait to wear these next year once the weather turns cooler.

Having said this, I also liked this off-the-shoulder bodysuit. I originally tried on the Medium (review tomorrow) and this Navy is the Small. I thought the Medium fit until I put the Small on. I think you’ll be fine in your regular size though. It’s really comfortable in a cotton/elastane blend. The elastane also makes it very stretchy and probably why you could size down if you want. As much as I wanted to buy this, I just hate wearing strapless bras. I have a few other OTS tops so I’m not heartbroken about not getting this.

~ Tie-Waist Short in Chambray, Size 8 ~

I have so many shorts it’s going to be impossible to wear all of them 2-3 times this Summer but I thought these Tie-Waist Shorts were the cutest. I find the size to be good in the 8 and they are still a little high-waisted on me with the length shorter than Bermuda length but still very acceptable for a 40-something. I would tie the bow on the side instead of the front next time to draw attention away from the mid-section.

~ Ruffle-Front Top, White, Medium ~
~ Gingham Linen Short with Side-Ties, Warm Jade, Small ~

I hate this top. I felt like those ruffles just overpowered my entire frame. I felt like a cobra when they open their hood. The Medium fits fine. The ruffle is cotton poplin and the body of the shirt is knit/t-shirt type cotton. A big fat nope for me.

~ Gingham Linen Short with Side-Ties, Warm Jade, Small ~

These shorts on the other hand! Well, I just love them. The Warm Jade is so pretty and I love it as Gingham. I tried a Small since the waist was elastic and the side ties actually help cinch the waist. They were a perfect fit so size down one in these. I bought them over the weekend with a special 30% off promo from an email I received. I love the solid colors offered in these shorts as well. But since I have so many shorts, I just bought these.

~ Cotton Jackie in Lemon Print, Medium ~
~ Cotton Jackie Shell in Lemon Print, Medium ~
~ Ruffled Short, Warm Jade, Size 8 ~

All I need for this outfit are some pretty white Keds. This was a cute outfit to try on and I like the contrasting shell and cardigan of the Jackie. The Jackie still runs normal size for me in a Medium.

~ Ruffled Short, Warm Jade, Size 8 ~

These shorts have been marked down online, not sure about in-store, and you can also take 40% off. Again, this Warm Jade color is so pretty and very saturated IRL. I settled on the size 8 and they fit just fine in that size. The ruffle gives them a little flair though I would prefer it not to be at the waist and only on the pockets.

~ Tippi Short-Sleeve Toucan Sweater, Small ~
~ Tie-Waist Short in Cotton Poplin, White, Size 8 ~

I was able to size to a Small in this Tippi. The Toucan is really cute and I debated on whether or not to buy it since I may not get to wear it until Fall. But it looks really cute with the white shorts so maybe if I am inside all day I can get away with this sweater. And though it’s a Tippi, it does seem a little lighter in weight than the regular Tippis. Maybe it’s just me. The shorts fit just like the Chambray ones above and the white are just classic. Because of the bow you probably should tuck in your shirt/sweater/tee.

Again, all of these items are included in the 30% off promo, BIGSALE. I ended up ordering something that wasn’t included in the promo that I’ll share with you on Sunday.

It’s been quite a while since I was in a Factory store but I had an opportunity last weekend. I grabbed things I would add to my wishlist to try on. At the time, the store had 50% off everything, which is the current promo both in-store and online, no code needed.

~ Anchor Sweatshirt, Small ~
~ Striped Sailor Pant, size 8 ~

I didn’t take much notice of this sweatshirt online but it stood out in-store. Probably because the Anchor is metallic rose gold. Interesting that the Factory is putting a little more into their designs. The Small fit fine but I would get the Medium for a looser and cozier fit.

~ Striped Sailor Pant, size 8 ~

These are sitting on my hips and fit really well in the butt and thighs. The cotton-linen blend along with the stripes ensures you won’t see the wrinkles like you would in a full linen pant. The length is extremely long on me. Too long that I might mess up the flow of the leg line if I alter it. I wish they had come in Petite as that would be a better fit all over and the length wouldn’t be as long.

~ Striped Corded Shell, size 8 ~
~ Printed Skimmer Pant, size 8 ~

This shell fits TTS for the style. I usually can tell on the hanger what size will be best, especially in sleeveless tops. This has some darts at the bust so I knew an 8 would work. You can see it’s still pulling a little on the upper part. This is a good work top, if you’re needing one. There is a back button at the neckline and the loop for it is elastic. You don’t need to struggle with trying to fit a tiny button you can’t see into a tinier loop.

~ Printed Skimmer Pant, size 8 ~

I had been sizing up in the Skimmer Pants to a 10 so I stopped trying them on. The size 8 now fits like it should and is not tight anymore. I know that at some point the Skimmer pant was running small but I do think it’s back to TTS. I like this print and the background is an ivory/cream and not white. I’d hem these to make them more capri.

~ Gingham Short-Sleeve Popover, Medium ~

I loved this popover as soon as I put it on. I like that it’s Navy/White and the cotton is really soft. I probably could have sized to a Small but I do like the looser fit of the Medium.

~ Postcard Collector Tee, Medium ~
~ Mixed-Stripe Cotton-Linen Skirt, size 6 ~

The colors in the tee go well with the skirt and fits TTS. Of course you remember the retail popover shirt and dress in this skirt print? I like it a lot better in a skirt version and more casual than a pencil skirt. The colors are actually pretty vivid in both the tee and skirt. The size 6 fit really well and does have an elastic waist so you can raise or lower it on your waist to get the right length for you.

~ Owl Collector Tee, Medium ~
~ Printed Linen-Cotton Sidewalk Skirt, size 6 ~

The tee fits TTS and I had originally grabbed it to try on with the skirt as a different option from a white tee. But I really liked the cute little owl and that it did go with the skirt. The skirt fits the same as the one above and the bright blue and white check are perfect colors to brighten up an already bright Summer day. This is also lined.

~ Short-Sleeve Shirtdress, Small ~

This dress was probably my favorite of everything I tried on. I have the black-and-white Gingham dress from last year but I wear more blue than black. I love that this has a lining that is the opposite of the front – tiny gingham. You can see it on the cuffs of the arms. I found that this ran the same as the retail popover shirt-dresses and I sized to a Small. This dress is so comfortable and the cotton is gauzy-feeling. But don’t forget it’s lined and not see-through at all. I still have, though rarely wear, the Gingham Espadrilles from last year. Not sure how well they would match or if that’s way too much Gingham?

Other items to note: The Lobster sweater is embroidered and not Intarsia knit. I really like that they changed it up for this year. If you’re looking for more lobster, this men’s Watercolor Tee is really cute. The Tweed Lady Jacket is a pretty good looking dupe of the retail version from last year. Lastly, I wear my retail version of the Metallic Canvas Wedge Espadrilles all the time. They are so versatile and go with everything. These will be a staple in your closet all Summer.

I didn’t make any purchases in the store that day. There was another promo that gave an additional 25% off over $100 and that total was less than the Factory store discount. The Short-Sleeve Shirtdress will be a definite keeper when I get it next week.

Are you shopping this 50% off sale? Some items are lower than 50% off and considered “cheep”, just in time for Easter.

Happy Shopping!

Another promo is being offered at J.Crew this weekend. You can take 30% off your purchase with code LOTSTOSHOP. Everything I’m reviewing today is included in this promo.

~ Polka-Dot Cold-Shoulder Top, size 8 ~
~ Cuffed Pant in Shirting Stripe, size 6 ~

It looks like shoulder baring tops are here to stay for Spring and Summer. I do like the cold-shoulder tops a little more than the off-the-shoulder tops because if the straps are wide enough, you can wear a regular bra. Originally, I thought this fit TTS to a little loose for me. I think because I am broad-shouldered, I should wear an 8 or 10. But since these types of shirts don’t have any material constricting right at the shoulders, I can size down. I know that sounds odd but the size 6 fit me a lot better than the 8.

~ Polka-Dot Cold-Shoulder Top, size 6 ~

~ Cold-Shoulder Top, Fresh Poppy, size 6 ~

The size 6 fit great in this silk version of the cold-shoulder top but the straps are way too loose. I don’t know if it was this specific shirt or the silk style in general. I ordered the pretty green Warm Clover color so I am hoping the straps are little more fitted.

~ Embroidered Tie-Neck Top in Printed Indian Voile, size 6 ~

This is a cute top and the cotton is really soft.  I found this to fit a size big since the 6 fits pretty well. You can tie the neck or leave them untied, both look fine. Elastic at the “cuffs” always bother me so this is a no for me.

~ Cuffed Pant in Shirting Stripe, size 6 ~

I’m so happy pants are no longer skinny and there are wide-leg options. I sized down to a 6 in this pant and it fits. The length is even cropped on me! These are very familiar to me. Almost like I wore something similar in this stripe and material as a kid. They are thin and lightweight and not lined, but also not see-through. I could do without the waist-tie though. I’ll either find an old skinny belt or got without.

~ One-Shoulder Ruffle Top in Eyelet, White, size 8 ~

My store did not get these in stock. This was a return, in all three colors. I wasn’t really sure about sizing so I’m glad someone else made the purchase for me so I could try this on. Like reviewers are stating, this runs big. I feel it does run 2 sizes too big. The size 8 is very loose all over. I am happy to say that I didn’t find the ruffle too overwhelming.

~ One-Shoulder Ruffle Top in Eyelet, Black, size 6 ~

The size 6 fit a little better but still seemed loose under the arm. I like the black though the nude lining is close to my skin tone. I’ve ordered the size 4 so I’ll report back on how that one fit.

~ Mini Skirt in Fringy Lace, Renaissance Red, size 8 ~

This red looks more like a true red IRL and the fringe makes it really fun for Spring and Summer. The size 8 fits TTS and on my hips, making the length a little big longer for me.

I ordered the Cold-Shoulder Top in Fresh Clover, the Ruffle Skirt in Cotton Poplin in White and the One-Shoulder Dress in Eyelet. I ordered the 8 Petite in the dress so I’m hoping it works out.
