Last Friday night had me getting out of the house for a cousin’s birthday party. The theme was 70s and we were encouraged to dress up. Well, talk about a fashion conundrum! The 70s had so many styles from continuing the hippie trend from the 60s to jumpsuits to disco fashion (polyester!) to midi skirts to high-waisted shorts.

I went straight to my closet and found my Lucky Brand Legend High-Rise Trouser Jeans {polyvore}, my Nimbin Peasant Blouse and Nori Wedges. I parted my hair down the middle and straightened it.

It seems most people went the disco way a la John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. There was even a “John McEnroe” complete with a curly wig and headband. Pretty clever!
My guys come home today! I am so excited and pray this day goes by fast. Of course, now that I’ve said that out loud it will be the slowest.day.ever. HAHA!
Have a Great Day!

I didn’t want to let the week end and not show you how I styled the rest of my “Old School Crew” items for my Week 5 Capsule Remix. By far, my favorite of the week was the Delfine Pencil Skirt.

I felt a little exposed in the Campo di Fiori Dress. I’m not sure my girls are meant for the top of this dress. Still, it’s a gorgeous print and I’m lucky to have found it. It does run small. I found it in a size 8 originally but was able to trade it for a 10 with the lovely JCA, JCrewJD. A brown belt and shoes finished the look.

Next time I would probably tie a Chambray Shirt at the Empire Waist. Cardigans are always an option too. I’d probably go with a cropped one since the waist is so high.

I found the Hugo Guinness Tee for $20, after discount. As you can see it’s very sheer. I have on a nude bra which shows right through. The Ischia Mini Skirt has so many colors to choose from, including a Chambray Top or the Linen Perfect Shirt in Lemon Pulp.

I’ve worn this pairing before {here}. The blues match just perfectly together. This is one of my favorite prints from J Crew. The blues and browns together are so pretty. It also looks great with White Denim.

So, that’s how I styled my “Old School Crew”. How do you style yours?

I wish I could say I wear this skirt a few times a year but, to be honest, I haven’t worn it since I first purchased it (here). Looking at that outfit now, it’s kind of basic and boring. I was always stumped by the colors and how to style it. I decided I would try to wear it at least 2-3 times this Summer or sell it. This skirt was the reason for my “Old School Crew” Remix this week. Despite the colors and the length needing to be altered I was determined to find something other than a matching tan Tee to go with it.

Enter this Linen Top from Zara. I have worn this top at least once a week since I bought it. It runs big so I grabbed a Small. It also give the illusion of a cropped top but covers well on me. I’ve worn this with skinny jeans, shorts, mini skirts. It goes with everything. I added some gold jewelry, way more than I usually wear, but felt it all went well together. The Dangling Disc Necklace is another older J Crew item that I wore with this skirt the last time.

I plan on pairing this with Chambray next.

I would have thought that being organized with my outfits would have helped me during The Boy’s Graduation Week but it was so crazy that it was easier to throw on shorts and tees to get things done. I’m back on track this week though.

This week features Tory Burch, including my London Blouse, shoes, possibly my new White Jeans and a new Tunic. I’ll review those in another post. I am in the office a few days as well so I needed to include something that I was appropriate.

And here’s today’s look. I missed out on the Linen Botanical Tank originally and waited patiently for the Factory offered it to no avail (not yet at least). I ended up finding this one on ebay. Comfortable, simple and chic – my kind of outfit.

And did you hear? My San Antonio Spurs handily beat the Heat!

This Shoes-Day I have another Tory Burch sandal…the Nori Wedge Sandal in Vintage Vachette. I ordered my normal size 7. I love the Laser-Cut look and she has several different selections to choose from.

The heel is 4 1/2 inches but the platform helps with the height. There is a buckle to adjust how snug you want it.

The color is perfect for my skin tone, almost an exact nude.

The scallops do not dig into my skin. One of my outake pics had one of the scallops folded under and I couldn’t feel it. I am sure, though, that at the end of the day, I will have my very own scallops indented in my skin for a few hours.

Just absolutely adorable. I wear nothing but sandals all summer and always have one or two pair of go-to sandals. These are definitely going to be in that rotation.
Have a Great Day!
