“I don’t need another pair of pants. I don’t need another pair of pants.” That was my mantra as I fell in love with the Patio Pant in Violet Poppy.

~ Tippi Sweater, Lemon Zest, Medium ~
This was one of the styling ideas my store had set out for the First Look event. I would not have paired this color with the pants but after a little closer look at the print, there is a subtle yellow-green color in the print.

I like the fit of the Medium, especially since I layered the Boy Shirt underneath. That fit TTS as well in my normal size 8. The Lemon Zest color is bright and I debated on whether or not to buy it. After my VPS and I talked about all the sweater colors I have already, I decided to wait on getting this color. I could probably find this cheaper somewhere else, especially since I may only wear it with these pants. We’ll see.

~ Gemma Glitter Flat ~

I tried on both the size 6 and 8. Since this is Polyester with no stretch the pant has no give. Because of that the size 6 was too tight. That makes me suspect the 8 Petite might not fit as well as I would prefer. The size 8 is a nice fit with the length about 1 1/2 inches above the floor on my 5’2″ frame. I would rather buy the size 8 and have them hemmed to be cropped instead of sizing to the Petite. But I like the length as is on these though they might look a little odd with heels instead of flats. Did I mention they are lined?

So, who’s a Seinfeld fan? Remember the episode where George bought a suit at a great price and it turned out the pants rustled when he walked? Yeah, these are George’s pants. Not as exaggerated but the Poly material makes a little noise when you walk. I probably wouldn’t hear the end of it from Husband.

All the Violet Poppy options…

I don’t need another pair of pants but these are so lovely. It’s the print really so I’ll have a review of the A-Line Mini Skirt in Violet Poppy tomorrow, along with several color-styling options.

Happy Shopping!

This next outfit is not one I put together and none of the pieces caught my eye online during the new rollout. But, my VPS put these in my fitting room since she knows my style is more casual than most.

This scarf feels quite larger than the normal scarves J Crew has had in the past. There are already quite a few larger scarves in-store and online. They are also a thicker wool, for added warmth. This one felt cozy and soft on. I like the buffalo check in navy and white as well but I have so many scarves already I passed on this one. The jeans are the Vintage Cropped Jean in Rinse Wash. and the loafers are the Darby in Calf-Hair Leopard. I am loving the Collins Tortoise Loafer. I was just wishing I had a pair similar to the Ferragamo Driving Moccasins Dani posted on her latest Frock Philosophy post about her Autumn Color Story.
I am not a fan of this furry vest but my VPS put it in the dressing room anyway. And she hit the nail on the head when I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t like it. It looks like a Muppet, and the Golden Hickory looks just like Fozzy Bear’s fur, wacka-wacka. But I’ll move on.
I wear a Small in Excursion Vests and still have plenty of room to layer underneath them. This one fits no differently than my Retail and Factory versions. The pockets have zippers and not buttons. I don’t close my pockets so I don’t see the need for either. This does feel a little thicker than the other excursion vests so if layered under a coat it might do well in helping keep you warm.
I noticed immediately how well this shirt fit me and didn’t know it was a size 6 until after I took it off. Now that I see the pic, I can tell that it’s a size 6 since the material looks tight around the arms. But it didn’t feel that way when it was on.

But just to be safe I would get the size 8 in this, my normal shirt size. I like the feel of the Shrunken Boy Shirt as well. The description is not lying. It is a lightweight flannel and super soft. It almost came home with me, it felt that nice.

Am I the only one who thinks the Plush Fleece Excursion Vest reminds me of a Muppet?

I was able to make a little time to see the new arrivals Wednesday evening and tried on quite a few items. I love a lot from this roll-out but am really really trying to be selective with my purchases. I was able to have my VPS all to myself as well and she’s always a lot of fun. We can’t ever stop laughing the whole time when that happens.

The main item in this review is the Double-Notch Mini Skirt.
I think this is probably the best Leopard pattern I’ve seen on the Tippi. There have been at least two other and I passed on both of those. Though I prefer a Medium in the Tippi, my VPS gave me a Small to try. It looks really nice with the Ivory colored Double-Notch Mini Skirt. I’d also wear it with my Patio Pant with the Leather Tux Stripe. I have both black and Ivory Lexington Blazers to go with this as well. Even with all of those options I didn’t purchase it. I have a feeling that MamaBella will want this too and she won’t buy it if I do.
~ Double-Notch Mini Skirt, Ivory, size 8 ~

The Wool Mini Skirt is a J Crew staple each year with the design being modified slightly. This year the pockets have been removed and notches added to the sides. The size 8 is my mini skirt size and it fit TTS. I like the Ivory color but always feel like I will get it dirty, especially pants, so I don’t buy the color to wear on bottom.

As much as I like it, I know we will see this skirt at the Factory next year.
Though the solid only comes in three colors, there are other printed options.

This is another sweater J Crew does almost every year, having leather panels down the sleeve starting at the elbow. This year they have added the same double-notch as the Double-Notch Mini Skirt. The Small fit well so I would not size to a Medium.

You can see the sleeves are really long on me in the size Small so I would suggest sizing down one. I feel there is still enough room to layer underneath if needed.

I wore hats all the time when I was younger and had a really cool black felt derby hat in HS. I wish I had it now. I liked this one too and the leather band is a nice touch. It also comes in Heather Graphite and Picturesque Pink. I have my Factory Wool Fedora that I like a little more than this one, since it’s a bit floppy. I didn’t realize this came in two sizes, since there’s a little room under there, I’m guessing I have on the Medium-Large. But I don’t think there’s not enough room to fit into the Small. Hats you just have to try on, for both size and how it looks on you.

Right now, through October 26, you can take 25% off your purchase, barring exclusions, as well as 40-50% off Final Sale. Some items that are marked on promo count for the 40% off and no FS. The V-Neck Sweater with Leather Panels is on promo for $118 and nets $70.80 with the 40% off.

What do you think of these items, especially the Tippi Leopard Sweater?

I’m really excited about the new arrivals at J Crew.

I love the A-Line Mini Skirt in Violet Poppy as an option for my friend’s birthday weekend in November. I know I have plenty to wear but it’s always fun to have something new for a special occasion like that. I need to figure out how else to wear it and commit to wearing it more than just once or twice this year.

The Merino Sweater-Dress looks to have a bit of shape to it and the Academic Green color is beautiful. I am sure the Small will fit just fine and hit me at mid-calf in length. It will be wonderful to wear with Tall Boots too.

As a Patio Pant fan I am happy to see it in another print and texture in the Mini-Dot Wool. I’m actually happy to see more wide-leg options in both pants and jeans. They are all cropped and I’ve been happy with the Petite sizing as the crops are finally hitting just above my ankle bone without any alterations. The Rayner Jean in Keller-Wash is also on my list to try, especially since it also comes in Petite sizing.

I love that the Sleeveless Drapey Popover in Clover Print is Silk, at least that’s what the online description says. Hopefully it’s in-store and I’ll be able to confirm the material.
The Spicy Jade color of the Boy Shirt in Crinkle Gingham looks so gorgeous. I am trying to find a few sweaters in my closet to layer with it before I commit to buying it. I do have the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Wool in Viridian Green that would probably match it.
I hate wearing turtlenecks, but love scarves. I always feel like the turtleneck is squeezing my neck. I have a few Tissue Turtlenecks that I barely tolerate. I may need to try the Tippi Mockneck Sweater. I think it would be a nice compromise to keeping not wearing a turtleneck but still keeping my neck warm.

Of course, the things I really want are excluded from the currently promo. And I’m sure they will sell out before making it to a sale price.

Do you like this latest roll-out? What are you eyeing? You can always see more of my picks on my Pinterest Board. I have a lot more shoes and cozy socks out there.

Starting today through Monday, October 26, you can use promo code SaleTreat to take 25% off full-price styles or 40-50% off Final Sale styles. The 50% off section has some great items, especially if you want to kick start your Christmas shopping.

The Featherweight Cashmere Pocket T-Shirt is a great price at $55. Basic colors like Black, Navy and Gray are always great to have on hand, especially as the weather starts to shift to cooler temps. I suspect these are better up North in the late Spring as opposed to Early Winter.

I’ve been lusting after the Cropped Linen Wide-Leg Trouser in Red Clay all Summer long. It now nets $40. It looks like they run TTS but do I take a chance on Final Sale? And do I order the Red Clay or the nice basic Classic Ivory?

Of course, some of the best deals, under $50, can be found in the jewelry section. I’ve ordered the Mixed Stacking Rings for me, for a much better price at $25. The Petal Cuff Bracelet and Dangling Paillette Necklace both net $20. Even the Yarn-Dyed Vertical Striped Scarf I mentioned in my Sunday Shopping post has moved to the 50% off section.
Also, today only you get Free Shipping with SaleTreat. So you don’t have to hit the normal $150 threshold, especially if you find several items at 50% off and are still under that total.
