J.Crew Holiday items have arrived. It took me a little while to get in to the store to try some of them on but I did it finally and I’ll have those up this week. My store had an “early Black Friday” event this past Sunday morning. You could take 40% off your purchase so I assume that is what the Black Friday, and maybe Cyber Monday promos will be.

Does it seem like there’s more Tartan and Holiday-style plaid items this year? I think it’s on almost every type of item. One of my favorites is the Maxi Skirt in Tartan though I’m sure it’s really really long and I’d have to take several inches off. The Lace Pants are back this year but the Factory also has Lace Pants, with an elastic waist and pockets. The retail pants have a scalloped hem and though they are both at the same starting price of $98, the Factory has them currently at 50% off. If you are only going to wear them once or twice a year, I’d go with the Factory Lace Pants.

It seems the faux fur stole is the holiday trend as I’ve also seen them being offered at Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and Anthropologie. I love this striped pink stole from Urban Outfitters.


Through the end of today, you can take 30-40% off Holiday ready items, and 30% off sale, with code FESTIVE. What’s interesting is I can’t find anything that’s 40% off, in any of the categories. The details of the promo don’t even mention the 40% off. Just a bit sneaky if you ask me. I didn’t get anything from this promo. I’ll hold out for the Black Friday or Cyber Monday Promo to grab the Wolfstooth Dress.

It’s always fun to look at all the retailers Holiday collections. J.Crew Factory had their roll-out recently and some you’ll recognize as similar to retail items while others look to be exclusive to the Factory/Mercantile stores. Currently, everything is 40-60% off, prices as marked online and in-store, through tomorrow. Use code SHOPSHOP to take an additional 40% off Clearance.

The Factory Faux Leather Skirt is a thinner quality than the retail skirt. It also runs a little smaller in the waist. I liked the Metallic Fair Isle Sweater though it ran a size big. You can always count on the Factory to bring blackwatch items for the Holiday, including pants, a puffer vest and even a blanket.

Two items I don’t recall being from previous retail roll-outs are the Wrap Skirt and Ruffle Shirt, which comes in solid or plaid. I like these flannel pajamas but if I wore this Union Suit I don’t think my husband would ever stop laughing at me. I loved the Lace Pencil Skirt and it fit really well in my normal size 8.

I finally went to the local J.Crew Mercantile store and tried on several pieces. The one thing that bugs me about my store, compared to the Factory B&M, is my size sells out quickly. They get a smaller stock than the Factory store so I need to remember to get to the store quickly if there’s something I really want to try on. I will share my reviews over the next few days.

~ Open Front Merino Wool Cardigan, Navy, Medium (long version)~

This merino cardigan looks to be sold out online but I found this in-store on the sale rack. I already have a merino cardigan from J.Crew but it’s v-neck and I wanted something a little more classic and cropped. The medium is a good fit though the sleeves are pretty long, as you can see by the bunching at my wrists. The neckline is also a little wider than the standard crewneck of J.Crew’s Jackie Cardigan.

~ Puff-Sleeve Plaid Top, Preppy Navy, Medium ~

I was drawn to the puff-sleeves on this top, as well as the length of the sleeves. They are long enough to cover my arms but don’t quite hit the elbow; not too short or too long. When I saw this in-store it was styled with this purple blazer, which I thought was odd. I thought what is actually a bright pink color in this plaid top was red. But now that I know this is pink I can see wearing this top with my pink houndstooth heels. This is a poly blend that feels a little like wool while the pink version is 100% poly. This also comes in a tee.  It runs TTS.

Tory Burch has added lots of Fall items to the sale section this week. The Blossom T-Strap Flat is now on sale I absolutely love mine! I haven’t had a good black flat in a really long time and I’ve been wearing these every chance I get. If you want something more classic, the Ballet Flat is also on sale in the Port (Burgundy) color. Both will look really cute with they Ryder Dress, which is also on sale now. Check out how I styled that dress.

And the one thing I’m excited about from the latest arrivals is the Massey Silk Shirtdress. The color and print aren’t link any of my other Tory Burch shirtdresses so I’m excited to add that to my closet.
