It’s Shoes-day! Today I have the Marlow Mules in Seashore Beige. I haven’t worn this type of wide-band sandal since the early 2000s. I had some wedges from Nine West in Black and in Brown that I wore constantly. The Marlow Mules look promising so let’s take a look.

I saw a size 7 1/2 out in the store so I grabbed those to try-on. Just looking at the wide-band across the top I kind of knew that a size 7, my normal shoe size, would be a little snug. I was right as even the 7 1/2 just fits. The length is fine but the wide-band has no give or stretch.

I really did like the Marlow Mules, especially in the Fabric Mules and the Huarache Mules. But, I would have to size to a 7 1/2 for sure. If you have a slightly wider instep like me, you’ll probably need to size up a half size.

I think these will be a great transition sandal from Spring to Summer but I think once our heat comes, they might be a bit warm to wear.

Have you tried the Marlow Mules in any of the offerings?

I have tried on the Regent Blazer before, when it first came out, and it ran really small on me. I know I tried on a size 8 and 10 in different fabrics and it wasn’t too flattering on me. The standing collar and single-button closure where also disappointments for me.

For Spring/Summer, there is the Regent Blazer in Linen, in a variety of colors; many of which I would love to add to my closet. I think the Radio Red, Alpine Moss and Weathered Coral are my favorites. Those have not arrived in my store but the Regent Blazer in Metallic Linen did.

~ size 10 ~

I tried the size 10 on in-store and loved the material and look of it. It looked great with the Linen Lace-Trim Shorts as well. This was a little snug in the arms and the length on the arms was too long. I liked it enough to order the 10 Petite.

~ 10 Petite ~
I never button my blazers but did want to show you how it looks buttoned. The sleeve length is much better on me. The fit through the shoulders and arms are free enough that I can still move without fear of ripping a seam.

This is how I would usually wear the blazer, un-buttoned. I let my hair down so you could see how the standing collar works with longer hair. I really like the gold metallic color of the blazer. The lining is cotton and some have reviewed, on the Linen Blazer, that is a nuisance when wearing cotton tops with sleeves. I didn’t really notice but I was wearing a sleeveless top. Poly linings are too noisy, IMO. So I think it probably depends on what you prefer and how you’ll wear the blazer.

Overall, I am going to return the Regent Blazer in Metallic Linen. I really can’t get over the standing collar. It is constantly touching my face and it would get dirty from make-up very easily, making me send it to the cleaners more often. I would love to see this offered in the Schoolboy Blazer. I would be really disappointed if  J Crew is planning to phase out out the Schoolboy Blazer and leaving it only for the Factory. It’s a staple in my closet and I would love to add another Linen one in any of the Regent Blazer’s colors.
Have you been ablet to try it on? What do you think of the Regent Blazer in Metallic Linen?

Purging, cleaning and re-decorating have kept the blog on the back burner for a little while. We are now tackling my office and will then move on to The Boy’s room. After that, I hope we are done and can start enjoying our new-to-us spaces. I still have a few things to review from the latest roll-out along with some lovely Boden, Madewell and Factory purchases in the next few days!
~ Cinched Tank Top, White, Small ~
This reminded me of the reverse of the Stripe Silk-Back Linen Tank from last Summer. The cinching on that one is in the back, while in the front on this one. I need to size up to a Medium in this one. The arms and chest were fine but the cinched part of the waist came up really high. I had to fiddle with it so that it wouldn’t give me a prego-belly. I really liked the Heather Steel Indigo in person.

~ Linen Lace-Trim Short, Black, size 8 ~
I grabbed these to try on for the blog only but ended up really really liking them. They have enough visual interest to really dress them up with a nice blouse and pretty sandals or heels. The size 8 was the best fit and my normal shorts/pants size. I have the Structured Cotton Shorts in Black and Ivory from two years ago so I would look at getting the White in these. I have a bright yellow skirt already so the same color in the shorts are not an option.

There’s a new promo of 30% off with SPRINGSTYLE. The Linen Lace-Trim Shorts are not a part of the promo but the Cinched Tank Top is.
At a glance, this is a promo I won’t be shopping. I bought a few items from the latest Factory roll-out and am still trying to get rid of a good number of items from my closet so I’m sort of in a holding pattern with purchases right now.

Have a Great Afternoon!

One of my favorite items from the April roll-out is the Aquatic Floral Silk Dress. The fit-and-flare shape is very flattering. The aquatic floral print is very pretty on the silk. The size 8 is perfect on me and hit me just above the knee. As much as I want this dress, I have no need for it at all. I have no weddings or fancy parties this Spring or Summer so it will just sit in my closet.

~ Laser-Cut Floral Shift Dress, Navy, size 6 ~
This is the same style and material as the Scallop Shift Dress from last year and the year before as well as from the Factory. The major difference is that this is entirely laser-cut and has a slip lining. The size 6 fits very well. They’ve also made the length longer so it hits just above my knees. I have the black dress from two years ago and the mint from the Factory last year so I’ll be passing on this one.

I really wish I could justify buying the Aquatic Floral Silk Dress but it’s just not practical enough for me. I know it will look great on everyone who does buy it.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

A quick trip to Dallas interrupted my posting but I’ll post the rest over the next few days. I was able to spend a FULL DAY! with The Boy! I am one happy mama!

This reminds me of the Dutch Floral Cropped Sweatshirt, which MamaBella loved.  Even though this does not have “cropped” in the name it feels a little short. The aquatic floral is a pretty print and overall I’m a fan of everything it comes in. The Small fit just fine. I don’t really think the Medium would give me any more length so I would stick with the Small.
~ Martie Pant, Pale Umber, size 6 ~
Is this the new Minnie Pant? It sure seems like it might be. The size 6 fit fine. I know these are supposed to be snug-fitting, like the Minnie’s but I would feel more comfortable in the size 8. The waist is higher as I always feel the Minnie’s sit on my hips. They are nice pants if you are looking for the fit of the Minnie’s but a higher rise. The description also states these are cropped but actually normal length on my 5’2″ frame. These also have pockets.

I like the Martie Pant and the Aquatic Floral print but both items are a pass for me. The Aquatic Floral Sweatshirt is currently 25% off with SALELOVE.
Have you tried the Martie Pants? What do you think of them?
