I have a few fitting room try-ons for you today and tomorrow.

Zip Pocket Mini Skirt, Heather Chartreuse, size 8 ~
When I first saw this color in the store it reminded me of a lighter version of the Burnished Olive color from several years ago. That olive-yellow tone that came in a Jackie, for sure and I think a Frances Cami and a patterned sweater. This is more yellow than green. The shape is the same as the Collection Leather Mini Skirt {review} except these pockets have zippers.

The size 8 was a very good fit and though I probably could have gone to a size 6 I like to stay with a little longer hemline. This falls almost where I like my pencil skirt lengths. I didn’t really notice the “curved back hem” as the online description states. I brought it home with me to play around and find some outfits and shoes to go with it. Navy is definitely a great color pairing as shown below.

I have been lusting after this sweater since it showed up on the website. My store sold out pretty quick of the Gray color and received a shipment of the Navy which is almost sold out as well. It’s funny because we can’t wear this until at least late October nights but probably more like mid-November nights and then December days.

The Small is a great fit so I recommend sizing down. I love this but feel I’ve been on too much of a leather clothing kick this year. I don’t want to over-do it with the leather. The leather pockets are so subtle, though, because they are also Navy. I love the pairing with the Heather Chartreuse color.

With heels/wedges

AND! I love this styling, even more, with the Vans Classic Slip-On in Wool Pinstripe. I could probably add Navy tights and be fine to wear this exact outfit on a Sunny Winter’s Day.

Have you tried the Zip Pocket Mini Skirt or the Merino Wool Leather Pocket Sweater? I know I can recreate the look with my Navy Tippi but the sweater is just so darn cute and has been on my mind since I saw it.

My online orders came in and I was excited to get these with one of the promos.

Merino Wool Pocket Tunic, Deep Forest, Small ~

I love my Merino Pocket Tunics from last year. This time the pockets are in front instead of on the side. I preferred the side though the front pocket seams aren’t as noticeable. I was counting on the tunic being the same fit as last year so I ordered a Small. I was right about this running big so size down one unless you want a really over-sized fit. I have the Gray, Navy and Burgundy from last year so I am very happy this Forest Green was made available this year.
It doesn’t look too bad with the Zip Pocket Mini in Heather Chartreuse. The mini is not that bright but a more muted tone. My review is coming soon.

Covered-Button Crepe Blouse, Safari, Petite 8 ~

I have several colors of last year’s Drapey Crepe Henley Tunic including a shade of green. The fit is perfect in the Petite 8. If there hadn’t been Petite sizing in this I would have gone with a size 6. The shoulders are fine for me in this. I’m guessing it’s because it’s supposed to be loose. The button placket is covered like it was last year. There is some additional seaming above the chest. Probably to differentiate it from the Drapey Crepe Henley Tunic. The feel/material is the same as well which means it will snag easily. Lastly, from experience, I would stick to the washing instructions on the tag, which is Dry Clean Only. I’ve shrunk two on the delicate setting.
I’m not as excited about the Safari Green color as I thought I would be. It doesn’t go with anything I’m planning on wearing for Fall so I will be returning it.
It’s ok with the Zip Pocket Mini. I’d stick with the darker shade of green above.

Plaid Mix Scarf ~

This is a nice little plaid wool scarf that will mix well with my Fall and Winter items. I usually grab a wool and a cashmere scarf each year.
So, two hits and a miss. I kind of knew after ordering the Crepe Tunic in Safari I was going to return it. I just wasn’t excited about it. The Light Wisteria is a sweet color but only enough to make my wishlist.
How about you? Do you have multiples in the Pocket Tunic and Crepe Tunic? Those two items were something I wore a lot last Winter.

Tory Burch had a lovely Labor Day promo over the weekend and I stopped by the store to see if the items I had tried on last time {here and here} were still something I wanted. I really do love the Peg Shell but found the most wonderful silk shirtdress instead.

~ Cora Dress, size 6 ~

I have found that I am 90% consistently a size 8 in Tory Burch. I originally only grabbed the size 6 because it was the only one hanging in the store. There were other sizes in the back. If you’ve never been to a Tory Burch boutique, they have a few sizes out, like a 2/6/10 or S/M or S/L. All the rest of the sizes are in the back. The sales associates will happily get you whatever size you need. I still hate bugging SAs for sizes, especially if all I’m doing it trying on only so I try to grab the 6/8/M that might be out in the store. I’m 42! I shouldn’t be afraid of asking an SA for help!

Anyway, I sized down to a size 6 in this dress. It’s 100% silk without lining. Instead of a straight hem all around it is rounded in the front and back and has an extra panel on the sides that’s a little shorter.

I love this since the dress looks like, from the front, it is going to be very revealing and then the sides are covered up. It is also the reason why I was able to size down. I think if that extra panel had not been there the hips would have been a little tight and I would have gone to my normal size 8. It’s defnitely an “AudreyBella” dress. Just the right hem length and right amount of leg showing.
A nice close-up of the red floral print.
The online image shows the dress with the Simone Suede Over-The-Knee boots and tights. Above, I have paired the dress with both brown and black booties and black wedges. I would probably do a heel of some kind or the black booties, then add my Pixie Pant in Tuxedo Stripe {similar} and a belt and wear it as a tunic.
It also comes in a Horse Print and a “Hardware” Print. Personally, I think the red floral print will be a lasting print for years to come. I have added the Peg Shell to my wishlist so I can grab it when it goes on sale.
Did you get anything from the Tory Burch Labor Day promo?

All through Spring and Summer I have been eyeing this slip-on sneaker trend. I debated on whether or not to jump on the trendy bandwagon and buy a pair but never did, until now. I think I was waiting for the right pair to come along.

Both the Suiting Mix and the Pinstripe are very Preppy. Possibly a “Preppy Skater” style? With these it’s a definite possibility. They both fit TTS.

The suiting mix has three different patterns on the front, side and back of the shoe with a white outer sole.

The pinstripe wool are navy with burgundy/white pinstripes on them. I loved these so much more than the suiting mix. I tried them on with a few things that I’ll be reviewing soon.
The pattern stays the same on all three panels, front/side/back.

I have been looking for a pair of Navy booties. It’s been stuck in my head for a few weeks now but I haven’t been able to find the right pair. I think the Vans Classic Slip-on in Pinstripe Wool may just satisfy my need for a pair of Navy shoes, including those booties.

Have you tried any of the Vans offerings from J Crew?

I bit hard on the 40% off Final Sale last week at Madewell. I didn’t really look at anything until then so I didn’t have a wishlist prepared. Not very smart considering everything I bought was Final Sale. Let’s see if I liked them all.

Linen Palm Tee, Medium ~

I liked the blue sky in this tee along with the palms. I like that the Linen is not very sheer. The Medium is a nice fit but not too slouchy.
Silk Shadeview Dip-Dye Cami, size 6  ~

I like this little cami for layering under blazers this Fall. The size 6 is well-fitting and I’m glad I chose it as the size 8 would have been really big and not returnable. I’ll probably wear this with the Toothpick in Destructed Miller Wash and my Navy Puff-Sleeve Blazer with booties of some kind.

Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank, size Medium ~

I loved this tank immediately out of the package. The linen is a little thicker. The Medium is a nice fit but I’ll definitely send this to the cleaners. If this shrinks I don’t think it will fit. A Large would have made it look really boxy through the waist. I wore this over the weekend with my Pleated Crepe Shorts in Black. I’ll wear this through the Fall as well with a black or blue blazer.
Kasbah Top,Medium ~

This received a lot of love from everyone and I was finally able to grab it in a Medium. I think I could have sized to a Small in it though. I didn’t realize how sheer it was though. And it’s probably more noticeable on me because of my tan and skin-tone.
~ Lightstitch Blouse, Small ~

The hippie in me loves little peasant blouses. I like that this one was black with a little embroidery here and there. But this is very sheer. The first pic I took I used flash and that was crazy see-through. The non-flash is a little less but I think it will require a black cami underneath. The Small fits ok. I didn’t really do anything with it in these pics so it just looks like it’s hanging there. The Medium might have had a nicer flow throughout but I can work with the Small that I have.

Pleated Shirtstripe Skirt, size 6 ~

I debated between ordering this skirt and the Indigo Shibori Linen Skirt. This one won out. The size 6 is sitting at my waist so I’d say it runs TTS. I liked the pleating as well. I was hoping they wouldn’t bulge out too much. Gigi reviewed it too.

My favorite is the Indigo Linen Embroidery Tank. I could have sized up in the Lightstitch Blouse and passed on the Kasbah Top. I also bought the Seagauze Pleat Tank in both White and Black but they are very very sheer and I couldn’t find my camis to go under them. They fit TTS in the Medium that I bought but, again, will definitely need an under layer to wear.

I hope your Madewell Final Sale purchases worked out for you!
