We’ve had our everyday dinnerware for about 10 years and they were really not my style. They were red and black and very masculine looking. We also have an 8-piece set of our wedding china that could be used as everyday dinnerware but Husband didn’t want to use them. I’ve slowly incorporated them for use other than special occasions but knew I wanted to get a new everyday set. Of course, I turned to Anthropologie. I wish our Home section was bigger but there’s enough in-store to get you going.

Back in July, armed with a gift card, I went in search of my new plates. I was glad I waited to use the gift card since an Anthro Day came along. Husband has been talking of down-sizing our “stuff” so I also went in planning on buying only a 4-piece place setting and not the standard eight. We had our china for guests and special occasions and with The Boy in college we didn’t need 8 pieces of each.

Originally, only the Mint color was available, which was fine by me. Now the Old Havana collection comes in Moss and White. Another criteria was that the dinner plate could not be busy where the food would be placed. The rim decoration was ok but that optical illusion of something still being on the plate but it’s actually the design or pattern kind of bothers me.
I had planned on getting a complete matching set but the SA suggested I try something different from the main pattern. The Glenna Side Plate in white looked so good with the Old Havana Dinner Plate so I chose that instead of the Old Havana Side Plate. I still think I would have purchased this one and not the Old Havana Side Plate in White, if that color had been available. I was a little worried Husband would be bothered that it didn’t match. He got over it fairly quickly though.
~ Old Havana Bowl, Mint ~
I did stick with the Old Havana Bowl to round out my 4-piece place setting. The bowl is fairly tall and deep and holds a nice big bowl of cereal or a whole can of Spaghetti O’s.
Though I only wanted the 4-piece setting Husband insisted I go back and get another 4. I waited for a few weeks and, YAY!, another Anthro Day came along.
The Glenna Collection also has serveware. The Old Havana doesn’t but the Point Duchesse Serveware Collection in Moss looks very similar in color and style to the Old Havana Collection. And, I already have several pieces of the Molly Hatch Peony Collection.

So, we didn’t down-size any in the dinnerware section but I did get some new plates I love using!

Have a Great Sunday!

Husband and I went to see Bob at Sam’s last night. It was so much fun. We’ve seen him before with a band but he was solo this time around. So along with a yummy burger and tots we saw a great live show.

Sam’s Burger Joint is a cool little venue to hear some of your favorite singers. They have a music hall separate from the dining area but you can always order food during the show too. We saw Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison over the Summer. That was a great show too. They had their kids with them selling tees and CDs and such. Bruce is soooo tall and Kelly is just adorable. Not to mention, great artists.

Two pieces in my outfit are the last of my Madewell reviews from my visit Tuesday. The Madewell Leather Pocket T-Shirt Dress was perfect for a small concert.

I wore the dress with my Vintage Denim Jacket from J Crew and Old Navy Booties. I felt stylish and comfortable. I’m glad I brought the jacket because the venue was a little chilly.

The dress is so lovely. It’s a poly/spandex blend and feels a little like crepe. The SA recommended I size down to a Small and he was right. The arms are just a bit snug but the fit is perfect everywhere else. The dress has a shirttail hem so the back is just a little longer than the front.

The Halfmoon Layering Necklace was longer than I thought it would be. I think I was expecting a shorter more delicate necklace. I’m glad it’s not. There are three jump rings to adjust the length. I have it on the very last one, to make it as long as possible. Necklaces like this one make it so easy to wear one every day. No deciding which necklace to layer with pearls or to select a short necklace to go with a longer one. Simple and easy. I like it!

Have a Great Saturday!

This next set from Madewell include some random tops.

I like the look of this hoodie on the hanger but on me I thinks it’s a mess. I didn’t feel like me or very comfortable. It has too many things going on with it. The hoodie, which I forgot all about; the front pouch pocket; the short zipper in front along with the flap you can bring up and button. Not to mention the dropped shoulders that at least have the Fair Isle pattern matching with.

I liked the fit of this flannel shirt along with the gray and blue check pattern. It was just your standard fit, TTS. I’m not really into flannel shirts and currently don’t own any but I thinks it’s a good one to get.

Linen for Fall is still weird to me. Both Madewell and J Crew are doing it and I’m not sure why. If not cared for properly the linen will shrink to doll-size. I should know as I’ve done it plenty of times. This shirt was just ok for me in general. As far as fit, you can see how tight the arms are but they are plenty long. I’d say this runs small but then sizing up one more would make the length and arms longer. The Linen Curveball Tee is meant for someone who’s not built like me.
~ Noir Sweatshirt, size??? ~
I forgot to take a picture of the tag but I want to say this is a Small. These looked pretty oversized on the hanger. I liked not only the comfort of this sweatshirt but the price. The dark gray is a nice color too. The “Noir” I think was faux leather but I wasn’t paying attention. sorry   Adding faux leather to the collar would have been a nice touch but probably would have jacked up the price about $30.

Currently online only, Madewell is having a 25% off  “Wear Now” styles. Of the items I’ve reviewed, only the Boulevard Skirt is included in the promo. The Charley Boot in Night Vision is that navy boot I’ve been searching for. I also like the Texturework Cardigan in Marled Black as well as The Stockholm Tour Crop Sweatshirt. Lastly, I’d add the Silk Spotlight Shirt in Warm Bluegrass to my closet. I like quick and easy tops to wear alone or under cardis or sweaters.

Have a Great Day!

I am lucky enough that I am able to work-from-home most of the year. I usually have to visit the office once or twice a month. It’s not required, but sometimes a project or meeting needs my actual presence, not my virtual one.

I love my Plaza Skirt in Glen Plaid and couldn’t wait to wear it again. This time I pattern-mixed it with the Tory Burch Peg Shell (now on sale). I was in a rush and didn’t have time for a great pic. I’ll wear this again though as I absolutely loved this pairing!

I wanted to be casual but chic on my Wednesday visit and chose the same colors from my Old Navy post. The blazer came off around lunch since it wasn’t as cool by the afternoon. I probably could have done a darker wash jean but I love the Toothpick Jean in Miller Wash. They are so stretchy and comfortable.

These are two of my favorite outfits. I can’t wait to style something similar again!

As I’ve mentioned during the week, Madewell opened a store in San Antonio, at the Shops at La Cantera. I arrived before the party to try on clothes. I walked the store twice and then started pulling items I wanted to wear. Once in the dressing room, I tried to make outfits with a few items. I was also able to try on some items from my picks.

I grabbed a Small in the Textured Crop Sweatshirt because it looked like it ran big on the hanger. Throughout the body it does. It’s very boxy. The shoulder is dropped and the arms are a little tight for me. Sizing to a Medium would only make the body even larger.
The Premier Skirt in Colorblock fit well in the Medium and was very comfortable on. The waistband is all elastic so it’s a nice easy pull-on style, as well as currently on sale. I like the colorblocking of black and gray, which are two colors I seem to be gravitating towards this Fall.
~ Turnout Skirt, size 8 ~
I liked the pattern and colors of the Collarless Popover in Wheaton Plaid, but even the Small ran pretty big on me. It looks pretty sloppy untucked, but my choice of bottoms wasn’t the most flattering with this shirt. It might look better with some skinnies.
I tend to stay away from Midi Skirts but loved the Turnout Skirt. I did feel it was a little too big/poofy through the hips. Unfortunately, the size 6 would close at my waist so the 8 was the best size for me, right now. The length description online states 21 1/4 inches but I felt it was at least 23 inches. It certainly looks better on me with heels than flats. The mesh insets are an interesting detail to set this apart from being a plain poofy skirt. Though I wish this skirt had worked out for me, overall it is a pass. It wasn’t marked with a sale price in-store but online it does show to be $79.99.
~ Chevron Crop Sweater, Antique Cream, Small ~
~ Boulevard Skirt, Antique Cream, size 8 ~
I grabbed the wrong size in the Chevron Crop Sweater. The Small is way too tight in the arms, though the waist is a nice slim fit. I would probably get this in the Heather Bark in a Medium. This a cropped sweater but on me it covered the top of the skirt well. I’m sure it would look more cropped in a low-rise or slouchy boyfriend jean. Really cute but a pass for me.

The Boulevard Skirt with it’s little ruffle hem is really nice, though the size 8 just fit. I might go back and try on the size 10 to see if that was a little more comfortable. This is a mini skirt and also comes in dark gray, which is the color I’d probably get. This skirt is not something I’m looking to add to my closet but would look cute with tights and boots.

The Turnout Skirt was my favorite of these outfits. I may need to go back and try it on with a different top.
Have a Great Day!
