J.Crew’s latest promo is 30% off select (most) items with code BIGSALE. This includes 40% off sale items and 50% off Final Sale items. I was in-store last week and was able to try quite a few things on. Everything reviewed below is included in this promo.

~ Off-the-Shoulder Bodysuit, Navy, Small ~
~ Tie-Waist Short in Chambray, Size 8 ~

I never shared a review of it but I did end up purchasing the Featherweight Cashmere Bodysuit in both the gray and navy. The navy was on back-order so I won’t have a chance to wear it unless we get another cool night but I did wear the Gray a few times and absolutely love it. The cashmere is supersoft and though the buttons are an inconvenience when having to go to the bathroom the bodysuit fit great in a Medium. I cannot wait to wear these next year once the weather turns cooler.

Having said this, I also liked this off-the-shoulder bodysuit. I originally tried on the Medium (review tomorrow) and this Navy is the Small. I thought the Medium fit until I put the Small on. I think you’ll be fine in your regular size though. It’s really comfortable in a cotton/elastane blend. The elastane also makes it very stretchy and probably why you could size down if you want. As much as I wanted to buy this, I just hate wearing strapless bras. I have a few other OTS tops so I’m not heartbroken about not getting this.

~ Tie-Waist Short in Chambray, Size 8 ~

I have so many shorts it’s going to be impossible to wear all of them 2-3 times this Summer but I thought these Tie-Waist Shorts were the cutest. I find the size to be good in the 8 and they are still a little high-waisted on me with the length shorter than Bermuda length but still very acceptable for a 40-something. I would tie the bow on the side instead of the front next time to draw attention away from the mid-section.

~ Ruffle-Front Top, White, Medium ~
~ Gingham Linen Short with Side-Ties, Warm Jade, Small ~

I hate this top. I felt like those ruffles just overpowered my entire frame. I felt like a cobra when they open their hood. The Medium fits fine. The ruffle is cotton poplin and the body of the shirt is knit/t-shirt type cotton. A big fat nope for me.

~ Gingham Linen Short with Side-Ties, Warm Jade, Small ~

These shorts on the other hand! Well, I just love them. The Warm Jade is so pretty and I love it as Gingham. I tried a Small since the waist was elastic and the side ties actually help cinch the waist. They were a perfect fit so size down one in these. I bought them over the weekend with a special 30% off promo from an email I received. I love the solid colors offered in these shorts as well. But since I have so many shorts, I just bought these.

~ Cotton Jackie in Lemon Print, Medium ~
~ Cotton Jackie Shell in Lemon Print, Medium ~
~ Ruffled Short, Warm Jade, Size 8 ~

All I need for this outfit are some pretty white Keds. This was a cute outfit to try on and I like the contrasting shell and cardigan of the Jackie. The Jackie still runs normal size for me in a Medium.

~ Ruffled Short, Warm Jade, Size 8 ~

These shorts have been marked down online, not sure about in-store, and you can also take 40% off. Again, this Warm Jade color is so pretty and very saturated IRL. I settled on the size 8 and they fit just fine in that size. The ruffle gives them a little flair though I would prefer it not to be at the waist and only on the pockets.

~ Tippi Short-Sleeve Toucan Sweater, Small ~
~ Tie-Waist Short in Cotton Poplin, White, Size 8 ~

I was able to size to a Small in this Tippi. The Toucan is really cute and I debated on whether or not to buy it since I may not get to wear it until Fall. But it looks really cute with the white shorts so maybe if I am inside all day I can get away with this sweater. And though it’s a Tippi, it does seem a little lighter in weight than the regular Tippis. Maybe it’s just me. The shorts fit just like the Chambray ones above and the white are just classic. Because of the bow you probably should tuck in your shirt/sweater/tee.

Again, all of these items are included in the 30% off promo, BIGSALE. I ended up ordering something that wasn’t included in the promo that I’ll share with you on Sunday.

It’s been quite a while since I was in a Factory store but I had an opportunity last weekend. I grabbed things I would add to my wishlist to try on. At the time, the store had 50% off everything, which is the current promo both in-store and online, no code needed.

~ Anchor Sweatshirt, Small ~
~ Striped Sailor Pant, size 8 ~

I didn’t take much notice of this sweatshirt online but it stood out in-store. Probably because the Anchor is metallic rose gold. Interesting that the Factory is putting a little more into their designs. The Small fit fine but I would get the Medium for a looser and cozier fit.

~ Striped Sailor Pant, size 8 ~

These are sitting on my hips and fit really well in the butt and thighs. The cotton-linen blend along with the stripes ensures you won’t see the wrinkles like you would in a full linen pant. The length is extremely long on me. Too long that I might mess up the flow of the leg line if I alter it. I wish they had come in Petite as that would be a better fit all over and the length wouldn’t be as long.

~ Striped Corded Shell, size 8 ~
~ Printed Skimmer Pant, size 8 ~

This shell fits TTS for the style. I usually can tell on the hanger what size will be best, especially in sleeveless tops. This has some darts at the bust so I knew an 8 would work. You can see it’s still pulling a little on the upper part. This is a good work top, if you’re needing one. There is a back button at the neckline and the loop for it is elastic. You don’t need to struggle with trying to fit a tiny button you can’t see into a tinier loop.

~ Printed Skimmer Pant, size 8 ~

I had been sizing up in the Skimmer Pants to a 10 so I stopped trying them on. The size 8 now fits like it should and is not tight anymore. I know that at some point the Skimmer pant was running small but I do think it’s back to TTS. I like this print and the background is an ivory/cream and not white. I’d hem these to make them more capri.

~ Gingham Short-Sleeve Popover, Medium ~

I loved this popover as soon as I put it on. I like that it’s Navy/White and the cotton is really soft. I probably could have sized to a Small but I do like the looser fit of the Medium.

~ Postcard Collector Tee, Medium ~
~ Mixed-Stripe Cotton-Linen Skirt, size 6 ~

The colors in the tee go well with the skirt and fits TTS. Of course you remember the retail popover shirt and dress in this skirt print? I like it a lot better in a skirt version and more casual than a pencil skirt. The colors are actually pretty vivid in both the tee and skirt. The size 6 fit really well and does have an elastic waist so you can raise or lower it on your waist to get the right length for you.

~ Owl Collector Tee, Medium ~
~ Printed Linen-Cotton Sidewalk Skirt, size 6 ~

The tee fits TTS and I had originally grabbed it to try on with the skirt as a different option from a white tee. But I really liked the cute little owl and that it did go with the skirt. The skirt fits the same as the one above and the bright blue and white check are perfect colors to brighten up an already bright Summer day. This is also lined.

~ Short-Sleeve Shirtdress, Small ~

This dress was probably my favorite of everything I tried on. I have the black-and-white Gingham dress from last year but I wear more blue than black. I love that this has a lining that is the opposite of the front – tiny gingham. You can see it on the cuffs of the arms. I found that this ran the same as the retail popover shirt-dresses and I sized to a Small. This dress is so comfortable and the cotton is gauzy-feeling. But don’t forget it’s lined and not see-through at all. I still have, though rarely wear, the Gingham Espadrilles from last year. Not sure how well they would match or if that’s way too much Gingham?

Other items to note: The Lobster sweater is embroidered and not Intarsia knit. I really like that they changed it up for this year. If you’re looking for more lobster, this men’s Watercolor Tee is really cute. The Tweed Lady Jacket is a pretty good looking dupe of the retail version from last year. Lastly, I wear my retail version of the Metallic Canvas Wedge Espadrilles all the time. They are so versatile and go with everything. These will be a staple in your closet all Summer.

I didn’t make any purchases in the store that day. There was another promo that gave an additional 25% off over $100 and that total was less than the Factory store discount. The Short-Sleeve Shirtdress will be a definite keeper when I get it next week.

Are you shopping this 50% off sale? Some items are lower than 50% off and considered “cheep”, just in time for Easter.

J.Crew has a promo ending today where you “buy more, save more”. With code MOREISMORE you can take 25% off your purchase of $125 or more, or 30% off your purchase of $200 or more. I took advantage of this and ordered a few things to try on that my store did not have, whether it was item, size or color.

~ Off-the-Shoulder Stripe Sweater, Small ~
~ Sailor Pant in Heavy Linen, Navy, size 8 ~

The sweater runs a little large and the Small seemed to fit best on me. Since this is a sweater the shoulders are stretchy and not tight. The material is a cotton crepe feeling more on the crepe than cotton side. It’s already too warm here to wear this sweater, unless I’m indoors all day. Still, it’s a really cute sweater and the shoulders stay put with movement.

~ Sailor Pant in Heavy Linen, Navy, size 8 ~

The linen doesn’t give too much so I went with the size 8. They are cute but also a mess. The sailor buttons are functional but you don’t want to use those because there is also a side-zip. Add to this a lace-up back you can use to cinch the pants around your waist for a better fit. The length is absolutely perfect full-length though it’s not meant to be. I don’t have a full-length linen pant and if these didn’t have the lace-up back I would have considered them.

~ Short-Sleeve Popover in Drapey Oxford, Ivory, size 6 ~

I have this popover in Chambray and Olive and love them. I wanted to see how drapey this ivory one was and it’s a little lighter weight making it a little cooler feeling. I realized I have another white sleeveless top I have yet to wear and always go for color in the Summer so this one was returned. Still it’s a nice dressier top than the regular Popover.

~ Perfect Shirt in Piece-Dyed Irish Linen, Black, size 8 ~

I needed a black linen shirt. I wear these regularly throughout the Summer. Surprisingly, the linen Perfect Shirts keep me just as cool as a tee. I had been wearing a size 10 in button-downs but have gone back down to my normal size 8. This is a good basic shirt for me.

~ Linen Bermuda Short, Spice/Black/Bright Flamingo, size 8 ~

I loved all the linen Bermuda shorts offerings from last year. I have every single color so and wore them all Summer long. That’s why it was an easy decision for me to get all three color offerings of this season’s version. I ordered a size 8, which fit TTS for me. The material doesn’t have much give but they still fit a little loose, which I prefer. My favorite color is the black and the Spice will be great through Fall.

I ordered the One-Shoulder Dress in Eyelet. If it fits well I may have to decide between it and the Sheath Dress in Fringe. I’ll share reviews once it come in! Don’t forget to use Ebates before ordering!!

Here are the reviews from the latest J.Crew roll-out. This has been one of my favorites of the year so far. There are a lot of regular-wear classics in it for me like the Popover Oxford Shirt, Linen Shorts and Linen Shirt.

~ Tippi Short-Sleeve Sweater in Berry Print, Medium ~
~ Pleated Skirt in Berry Print, size 8 ~

I love that this Tippi has a contrasting striped back and that it’s short-sleeved. I wonder if we will see solid s/s Tippi’s in another roll-out or two? If they had an all stripe like the back of this sweater I would definitely get it. I haven’t changed sizes in the Tippi with the Medium still fitting me well.

~ Pleated Skirt in Berry Print, size 8 ~

This skirt is long for me and I would be better suited in the Petite size. I was shocked to see the skirt was $98 but then I saw the material was 100% Polyester. This would have been much nicer in silk but of course probably raised the price another $100. But, because it’s Poly it’s also machine washable. I like the Berry Print but think I would get tired of wearing it as a top or bottom. I think the Bandana or D’Orsay Pumps are more my style.

~ Heels on Fire Tee, Small ~
~ Ruffle Skirt in Chambray, 8P ~

I thought the vintage cotton was looser like the tissue tee so I ordered a small in this tee. It’s a cute tee and the wording is embroidered on. It fits well through the body but the arms are a little snug. I was going to exchange it but my store only had two sizes left. I’m hoping it doesn’t shrink when I wash it. And I know you’re thinking “Why don’t you re-order the right size?” And I could but I want to wear this tee now and not wait for the new size to get here. But it is the right thing to do. I hope when I return from my trip that my store will have gotten more sizes so I can exchange it.

~ Ruffle Skirt in Chambray, 8P ~

I was hoping to get a pretty skirt that I could wear casually this Summer. This one, in the Chambray, was perfect. But I don’t care for the ruffle. I’d prefer a pencil or a-line silhouette. I ordered the 8P for length and it fits well everywhere. I like where the length hits, just at the middle of the knee but I couldn’t get past the ruffle so it was returned. If you order this, take your normal size.

~ Gingham Ruffle-Hem Dress, size 8 ~

I liked this dress when I saw it online and was happy to see it in my store. Unfortunately, I am not that girl who can casually tie her belt and still look cool. The bottom is visually heavy so I do think you need something in the middle to balance out the hem. The Petite is still going to be long, at 41-inches. If I got this at a crazy sale price I think I would chop off the hem. That would allow me to wear it at my desired length and without the belt. But it’s took cute and I think my size will sell out. I’m saying take your normal size in this dress.

~ Sheath Dress in Fringy Lace, Black, size 6/8P/8 ~

I absolutely loved this dress. I originally saw it at Nordstrom and both the 6 and 8 sold out quickly. I ended up ordering the 8 Petite from J.Crew and found it to be a perfect fit, except for the length. (middle pic) It’s really flattering at that length and I did love it but sitting, dancing or any kind of movement would have hiked up the hem to show a lot more than just my legs. I was relieved that my store had this in black in both the 6 and 8.

I tried the 8 first and it was roomy through the chest and waist. It wasn’t huge by any means but knowing how the 8P fit I knew it would look better a little closer to the body. The size 6 wasn’t as snug as the 8P but still very comfortable and body-hugging. The length hits about an inch above the knee and more appropriate in general. If I had a lot of fun places and events to go to I would have kept the 8P. Though all three sizes fit me I’m going to say to size down one in this dress.

J.Crew popped up a few great Spring New Arrivals today and you can get and additional 25% off most of them with code GETSHOPPING. Quick picks I’m eyeing are the Sheath Dress in Fringy Lace, Linen Bermuda Short and the Tippi Short-Sleeve Sweater in Berry Print. I really loved a lot from this roll-out so I’m excited to see them IRL. I do have some fitting room pictures from the last rollout that are below.

~ Western Chambray Shirt in Vintage Indigo, size 8 ~
~ Cropped Silk Pant in Foulard, size 6 ~

The shirt fit snug in the arms so I would definitely need a size 10. I think this runs a little small so that size may not even fit. I like the snap-shell buttons and the color is a nice faded indigo. I do like this better untucked but that just could be a sizing issue. The pants were nice and the size 6 fit me fairly well. There is some bunching in the front but that’s really due to the elastic waist. The length is full to-the-floor on me. I like the print though it wouldn’t fit in my daily wear items.

~ Drake’s for J.Crew Bell-Sleeve Top in Giraffe Print, size 6 ~
~ Boyfriend Chino Pant, Honey Brown, size 6 ~

The size 6 fit in this Giraffe Print shirt but it added weight in the front. The bell-sleeves did hit me just below the wrist though the sleeve is a little more 3/4 on the model image. The shirt does look better un-buttoned but overall was just oddly fitting for me. The pants also fit me in the size 6. The size 8 would have a been a bit looser through the legs and probably really big in the waist. I think a Petite 8 would be the best fit overall.

~ Gathered Popover Shirt in Vintage Plaid, size 8 ~

I usually do take a size 8 in popovers so this fit TTS for me. I liked the look of the colors in the vintage plaid but not so much IRL or on me. Still, the colors are great for Spring especially under a Navy Blazer.

~ Striped V-Neck Sweater in Summerweight Cotton, Small ~

This cute sweater is a relaxed fit so the Small fit well. I like the navy/ivory combo for Spring. The sweater is very comfortable and lightweight. I could wear this through the Spring though I think our Summer will get here early. We’ve had a really warm Winter this year.

~ Tippi Sweater with Tortoise Critter, Medium ~

This little turtle is smelling a little bitty flower. It’s so cute but the color washes me out. Both the turtle and flower have an embroidered detail and outline.

~ Pop-Stripe Dress, size 8 ~

I really loved the skirt in this pattern but I knew I would not wear it very often so I haven’t purchased it. The dress was in store so I thought I’d try it on. I grabbed my normal size 8 it did not fit. I really doubted I dropped a whole dress size and online reviews confirm this dress runs  a size large. It’s loose through the chest and the waist. I definitely need an 8 Petite or even a size 6. I am disappointed this is polyester.

I ended up ordering the Western Chambray Shirt in a size 10. I’m hoping it fits and doesn’t run small. I’m a bit behind on the blog just due to a big work project, prepping for some upcoming travel and concentrating on my fitness journey. I’ll have reviews later this week of new arrivals.
