My First Madewell Purchase!

And I found it at the J Crew Factory Store of all places! I had a three-day office visit and one evening my friend and co-worker S were shopping the outlet. Of course we stopped in J Crew. I knew that they had new arrivals for Fall but nothing caught my eye until we were walking out of the store. That’s when I saw the Madewell Western Jean Shirt in Nightsky Wash. Only one Medium was left among the Smalls and Extra-Smalls so I grabbed it to take to the fitting room.

Though the online description states a shrunken fit I found no issues getting it on and moving around. The denim is very soft and I can’t wait until it becomes like a fine wine…better with age. The buttons are all snaps, just like a western shirt should be. The best part was that it was also 40% off of it’s price of $59.99.

I loved my purchase so much I wore it the next day with the Collection Embroidered Neon Floral Skirt. The neon is pretty bright I love how the denim beautifully contrasts with it. I am wearing a size 8 in the skirt and could have probably sized to a 6 so I would say this is TTS. I finished off my outfit with my Lanvin Espadrilles. Shockingly enough I only brought 3 pairs of shoes with me compared to my standard 5 (one for each day, sandals for evening and an extra pair in case I change my mind on one of my day pair). Yes, crazy I know but you never know when you might need a different pair of shoes.

I’m so very happy with my first ever Madewell purchase. Other than a Tote I had been eyeing, nothing peaked my interest. Now I’ll really have to give them a good look in the future.
Have a Great Evening!

Wow, great price on that shirt, you did a lot better than I did on that one. Pretty skirt on you and is that a new haircut? Very flattering.

You look fabulous! I love Madewell's shirts and wear my ex-boyfriend one all the time. Love the contrast with the skirt, so pretty on you.

Great Outfit! I have a serious addiction to both J Crew and Madewell Chambray and Denim shirts of all kinds/washes and love to see how other people wear them! If you ever get all the way to Austin, you should check out Madewell in the Domain. It's a great store with great sales staff! My daughter and I have been shopping there since it opened and I am still surprised at how many people in Austin are not even aware of the brand!

Enjoy your Western Shirt! It's cute!!

TxMom – Thanks! Believe it or not, I have yet to venture up to the Domain, and I'm dying to go! I've driven by it but was on my way to one of our offices. I even saw it when the Neiman's had burned a few years ago. I definitely want to get there soon and check out the Madewell.

You look so cute Audrey! Great fine….I am seeing denim shirts in every magazine and website for fall….in Texas it's a staple, but there are so many fun ways to style them this year!!

Thanks Pam! I found a white one with true Pearl-snaps at Lucky but sadly they didn't have my size. Now, those are really hard to find!

The neon floral skirt is lovely – and look how long your hair is getting!

Lisa – Thanks for visiting! The neon is very bright but I love it and have worn it three times already! As far as my hair – At least I'm out of the transition phase of short-to-long. The bangs were something to keep me interested in growing it out.

Funny you should find a Madewell item in the JCF store. The shirt looks really nice on you paired with the floral skirt!

Rose – Thanks! I'm definitely going to pay more attention to your Madewell reviews. I certainly fell hard for this shirt.

Oooh I like both of these. I really like that skirt and I am loving the longer hair. Does this skirt sit high on the waist or did the size 8 allow it to sit lower?

    • August 4, 2013 / 11:37 pm

Shopping Celle – Thanks for stopping by! The 8 allowed it to sit lower. I am pretty sure the 6 would have been at or almost at the waist.
