I was in my Anthropologie store making some returns and saw the Off-the-Tie-Rack blouse styled with a sweater. I absolutely loved it. I’ve been wanting to wear the blouse but the weather is just not co-operating. Now, of course, you are thinking “A sweater would be nice over it during the Spring.” but it was the WAY it was styled. Just watch…
Here’s the Polyvore.
Here is how it is online. I wrapped the sash around one more time so the bow is smaller on me.
Here is how the SA told me to tie the bow. Just a simple knot.
Here is the way it was styled yesterday.
They used a shawl cardigan but since I already had a long J Crew cardi I saw no need (yay!) to buy the one they used – as tempting as it was.
Since it is a bit windy I added the Eden blazer. They are very convenient for layering and grabbing at the last minute when you’re going out the door. I would get another but I have the Ecole in the Brown and my Wool Schoolboy in Redwood should be coming today.
I had some success yesterday with the boy. I bought him “adult” jeans at American Eagle and not only did they fit but he liked the style and wash! AND…today I got him to wear a belt. He has this pair, his favorite, that he has been wearing EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! He washes them at least once during the week but he walked out of the house yesterday with his “pants on the ground”. And, of course, the bus was just about to show up so it was either 1) Get after him and make him change which would mean he would miss the bus and I’d have to take him or 2) Let it go for one more day. I let it go. He’s taller than me and has a deep voice now so I pick my battles. ;o)
Have a great day!
Hey, Mom is always taller than her boys in spirit, I know I am!
You are right to pick your battles. I found the best way to change a kids style is to do it slowly. Taking thme shopping as a store they like works too. If I really didn't like the clothes and they insist on wearing them, they just, somehow, got lost in the wash…
I love your top and both ways that you have styled it! I like the short know as opposed tomgiant bow.
Thank you Kathy. Yes I think they will be "getting lost in the wash" soon…hehe.
You are rocking that Off-The-Tie-Rack blouse! I love asymmetrical necklines but they always kind of look strange on me – that blouse is gorgeous.
I don't have kids but your story reminds me of my clothing "battles" with the BF. He's been a khakis and polos boy since prep school and essentially has had the same wardrobe for 15 years. Getting him to try new styles of clothes or going outside his color comfort-zone really is a battle sometimes!
The one shoulder top is not my style–but this looks cute on you my dear!
I stumbled across your blog through another JCA's mention and I've already spent hours going through your archives. I love how you style! I'm in a little bit of a rut, and I love seeing women with similar (better!) taste style clothes IRL.
As for the boy…my mom had a great way of teaching my sister and I to dress. If she didn't like it, we had to buy it ourselves! We soon learned how to buy quality pieces AND got to keep our individuality.
The top is gorgeous!!! You look amazing. Tootles – I'll be off to the anthro site now…
(:
The top looks stunning on you! 🙂
Thanks everyone. I usually don't do strapless or asymmetrical but this one was just too cute to pass up.
Devon – Nice to see you!
What an awesome way to wear that top!!! I rarely buy an asymmetical top bc I don't know where or how I'd wear it, but seeing the styling here makes me want to run out and get it! The gold belt around the cardi looks awesome!
Looking good! You have the best hair style btw 🙂
