I was not able to try these next few shoes on but I did want to share some pics of them so you can see what the look like IRL.

These immediately caught my eye both online and in-store. The navy and burgundy stripes are so very menswear-style.

I was surprised at how much I liked these IRL. I thought that the calf-hair looked a little cheap in the online pics but IRL they are really nice. You can see the pattern doesn’t match but I don’t mind that as much since spots are not tiny.

These were interesting. I’m not sure how much I like the colors of the stripe pattern. I guess if you needed to jazz up a neutral outfit these would be good. I’m on the fence with these

I’ll have some dresses reviews, including the Floral Piqué Dress, later this afternoon.
Happy Shoes-day!

I have been eyeing the Corsica Espadrille, especially the Calf-Hair version, for quite some time now. My store finally brought in a few options and I chose the Corsica Metallic Suede Espadrille to bring to the fitting room to pair with some try-ons.

I was really worried about two things on this espadrille. First, I thought the ankle strap either wouldn’t fit around my ankle or that it would be too wide and the buckle would rub against my ankle bone. The strap is a little wide and I do try to avoid ankle straps but the Metallic Gold looks nice against my skin-tone. Also the buckle didn’t seem to rub and you can adjust the strap around your ankle. Second, I thought the front wide piece would dig into the top of my foot making it uncomfortable to walk. Luckily that was not the case. The material is suede leather and felt comfortable and supple.

These only come in whole sizes and I tried on a size 7, which is my normal shoe size. They do still feel a little loose and you can see the gaping at the foot and the heel. If it weren’t for the ankle strap you’d slip right out of these.

The heel height didn’t bother me at all. I’m used to the height of the Seville Espadrille and these were no different. It also helps that this is a wedge, giving support from front to back.
The metallic gold color was really pretty and shimmery IRL. It does make me want to give the Calf-Hair a try, especially since it’s on sale. I also like the olive green of the Jeweled Espadrille.

Overall, I really liked the Corsica Metallic Suede Espadrille. My store also has the Dusty Cypress which has a peach-tone to it. The leather did seem a little stiff compared to the Metallic Suede version. I do think some people will be sized out of this shoe since there are no half-sizes. Sizing down, which J Crew recommends, might be too small.

Have you tried the Corsica Espadrille yet?

The Isabelle’s are my favorite Factory shoe. The 3-inch heel height is very manageable and the insole is surprisingly well cushioned. I was waiting and hoping to see if the Green Lattice print would be made in the Isabelle but so far it’s not. But the latest offering of the Isabelle are very gorgeous, especially IRL. I always take a size 7 in the Isabelle. Though you’ll see a little gaping at the heel, I’ve found that the size 6 1/2 is too snug at the front of the foot though it fits in the length. I ordered both the Raffia and the Navy/Ivory stripe soon after they showed up online. See the pics below.

The Raffia is a similar pattern as the Isabelle in Ikat. I have no idea what I will wear them with yet but I love these. They are completely different from anything I have both in pattern and material.
~ Isabelle Printed Bow Pumps, Navy/Ivory , size 7 ~
I have these in the Red/Navy stripe from last Summer and though I’ve only worn them a handful of times, still love them. I was excited to see they came in a Navy/Ivory stripe though, oddly, my box says Black/Ivory.
I absolutely love both pair. I am trying to make outfits with them now so they don’t just sit in my closet and look pretty.

Have you seen or tried either of these Isabelle Pumps?

I have a Super Shoes-day post for you today. While in San Diego I stopped by a J Crew that had a large shoe selection. Some I had not seen IRL.

~ Fringe Slingback Sandals, Navy, size 7 ~
These were so cute IRL and I wasn’t sure if these were Navy or Black, in certain light. The leather fringe is so cool-looking. These were the display and they fit well. The fringe was a little ticklish at first but I got used to it pretty quickly. Due to the flatness of the insole/sole, I don’t think they would be too comfortable. There is no padding or arch support so I don’t think these would be comfortable for all day walking around.

~ Harper Woven Mules, Retro Lemon, size 7 ~
I didn’t expect these to be a “lemon” color as there is only a little showing on the fabric compared to the purple. My foot is slightly wide at the ball of the foot area and so these were a little tight. I’d get the 7 1/2 to have them fit comfortably. If you have a narrower foot than me I would take your normal size. They are also completely flat with no insole padding or arch support. I do like the colors on these. I might have considered them had they been a D’Orsay style, with a back.

~ Marlow Huarache Mules, Dark Nutmeg, size 7 1/2 ~
I’ve tried these on in my store before and new I would need a 7 1/2 due to my width. They still felt a little snug but I think they might stretch a little. You can see there are a little big in the length since I have a little room at the back of the insole. I do like the Huarache-band style but they weren’t “have-to-have” shoes like a few others that I have purchased recently.

On a personal note: We’ve had a lot of rain the last few weeks and have turned our drought of several years to once-a-decade flooding. Our ground is now so saturated the rain water has no where to go. Luckily, my area and home are fine but my company headquarters was severely damaged.

I have friends in the Wimberley, Texas area who had flooding and some of their neighbors had their homes taken from their foundations. Mother Nature is a amazing beast. Giving us what we desperately needed to get out of this drought, and fill our lakes all over Texas with much needed rain. But, it seems Texas weather is never mild. We always “go big or go home” ranging from one extreme to the other.

This little blog is just a fun little hobby for me and clothes and shoes are material things that can easily be replaced. Lots of people have lost more than that this past Holiday weekend and I just ask you keep those affected in Central Texas and other affected flood areas in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for reading! I appreciate you stopping by!

I was trying to get my J Crew posts up but I lost my camera-to-iPad connector so while I search for that I thought I’d share some faves from the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale.

Here’s a bonus Shoes-day review. I bought the Vince Camuto Driston Espadrille in Dusty Camel while in San Diego. I ended up wearing them almost the entire time as they went with everything I brought and were pretty comfortable for walking around all day. The Dusty Came is a metallic gold and what I really love about them is the sole is completely rubber and not a jute/rubber mix. With the mix, if I step in water the jute swells up and it feels uneven when you walk. I sized up half a size to a 7 1/2. My feet were probably a little swollen from walking around but they still fit comfortably now. I’d order in that size if I bought any other colors.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

Here are some IRL pics of the Driston Espadrille.

I’ve tried on the Tory Burch Lucia Wedges before (review). Now the wedges and flat are on sale!!

I love the green floral print from Kate Spade. That’s probably because it reminds me so much of the J Crew Punk Floral print, one of my absolute favorite prints from J Crew. Now a lot of the Kate Spade items are on sale.

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
My favorite is the Blooms Marit Pencil Skirt but the most practical purchase would be the Spring Blooms iPhone case. But the dilemma with the Kate Spade items is they are also on sale at katespade.com and you can take 25% off sale items this weekend. I’m not too familiar with Nordstrom’s price matching. Would they honor the 25% off as well? Their prices are lower before the discount but then Kate Spade, with the discount, is lower than Nordstrom. But, most of the sizes are gone at KS, probably due to the % off.
What are you shopping at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale?
