Husband and I are off to an office Christmas party this evening. The dress code stated “Christmas Casual”. This is about as “casual” as I’m going to get and still feel fan-cee.

Sparkley top, bright pants, fab shoes = Christmas Casual
Let’s add bangs…
OK…let’s not.

And talk about those shoes…my favorites from last year, the J Crew Flannery Platform Peep-Toe. I love everything about this shoe. The different textures: flannel, suede, patent. The heel height with a platform making it very manageable to walk-in. The mary-jane strap and the peep-toe that has the maroon patent peeking out.

The top is J Crew Factory I purchased last month and the pants are the Lolli’s from last year. I’ll throw on my Boutonniere Blazer from last year and be ready to go. I must confess it was really hard to keep this outfit my version of casual. And from also being too typical “Christmas-y”. You know, lots of red and or green.

How would you do Christmas Casual?

Normally we stay home and celebrate when NYC hits midnight but Husband and I enjoyed our first NYE out in quite a few years. We felt bad leaving The Boy home but he was actually online with some of his school friends at midnight playing PS3.

Here’s what I wore for New Year’s Eve.

All J Crew
Belt: Glimmer Sash in Heirloom Pink
New Lip Gloss: Chanel Dragon Rouge Allure Laque

I have been wanting a red lipstick for a while so last week when Husband was shopping I walked over to the Chanel counter to see what they had. (Told you I only wandered away once.) It is really red but not orange-y or pink-y. I love it. I put it on lightly, if that can even been done, let it dry a little and then added another layer and blotted. Husband really noticed it but since my usual lip color matches my lips he would have noticed anything darker than that.

Have a great evening! Back to work for me tomorrow.

On a whim I purchased the Buena Notte Bag last week as a Christmas present to me. On Friday, I walked into Anthropologie and saw the item I’ve been dying to try on since I first saw it on the website.

It nips and tucks you in nice and snug. I tried on both the 6 and 8. The 8 was a little looser but the 6 was va-va-va-voom. Such a pretty little lace-y thing and a pretty penny too! I am not a big lace person but this was just too amazing to pass up. Soooo, MERRY CHRISTMAS to me…again.
I wore it out to dinner with Husband and some friends Saturday night. We were originally supposed to go to Husband’s work Christmas party but he decided he didn’t want to go. I decided I was dressing up anyway.

Cardigan: Kohl’s (100% Cashmere)
Cami: Eyelash Lace Corset
Skirt: J Crew Taffeta Mavelle Mini
Shoes: J Crew Flannery Platform Peep-Toe

With the Buena Notte Bag (and part of my head chopped off).
Have a great evening!

I’ve been struggling with what I really want to buy during this 30% off promo at J Crew. I have been lusting over the Wool Origami Sheath Dress since it first popped up online.

But I have also been eyeing the Heidi Dress in Prince of Wales Wool. The two-tone really intrigued me. Online says it’s catalog and online only but my store had it along with the Wool Flannel.

So I decided to go to the store to try on the Heidi Dress. There are some new SAs and Personal Shoppers and there’s one girl who is so helpful. Each time I’ve been in and given her something to start a fitting room I find several outfits when I arrive, accessories included. Most of the time I’m not interested in the extra stuff due to time constraints and they are just not my style but I really appreciate the effort.

Anyway, I tried on the Heidi in a 6 and 8. The 6 was a perfect fit and the 8 was a little looser but still a good fit. The PS also brought me the Super 120s Petale’ Dress in Black. It was $49.99 in-store, plus the 30% off. I tried the 6 and it fit great. I didn’t even bother with the 8. It’s a shift dress with and I had the PS bring a belt. It totally change the shape of the dress. I loved it.

So here are the IRLs of the two dresses along with a few other things I bought online last week with the 25% off.

Heidi Dress

Super 120s Petale Dress
Petale’ Dress belted
Double-Serge Stripe Pencil Skirt
Size 8 – Fits perfectly…I normally wear a 6 in JC Pencil Skirts. That size was sold out so I got the 8 and I’m glad I did. A 6 would have been returned.
Worn with JC Black Cashmere Tee
Flannery Peep-Toe Mary Janes

The material, it’s like a quilt, which I’m not a big fan of, but this skirt is lovely.
And…Merry Christmas to me.
Buena Notte Bag – There were two in-store, returns, and it is gorgeous. Sammy, the cat, ruined my dressy black clutch. I think this will do nicely as a great substitute.

I hope the pics helped if you’re still deciding on any items.

Have a great evening.

“…get your adverbs here.” OK…so maybe not adverbs but that’s what I hear in my head when I see these pants. The J Crew Bright Dahlia Lolli Pants are amazing IMO and perfect for this holiday season if you are looking for an alternative to a dress or skirt.

I saw these in-store and on a new SA and she looked fab. I went ahead and tried them on and really liked them but didn’t get them. Little did I know these pants were all the buzz on the inter-webs and then I saw them on Debye, where she looked FAB in them.  I couldn’t stop thinking about them and was waiting at the store when it opened the next day. I ran straight to my “Lolli’s” and tried them on once more for good measure. As Debye said, they are very lightweight, unlined and the color is TDF!

I tried on an 8, and only because they didn’t have a 6, which I know now would have been snug on me. The 8 sits on my hips and the length is the perfect ankle length. I am debating on whether or not to get them hemmed so they are more cropped like they are meant to be (27 inch inseam).

They are sold out online but I’ve seem pop-backs daily. Have an SA or your personal shopper do a WWFIFY because my store did have some smaller sizes available as of Friday.

I was able to immediately wear these this weekend to our neighborhood holiday party. It’s basically our ladies luncheon but we get to bring our husbands. I was afraid Husband would make a comment about the color and not like them but he only mentioned the shoes I was going to wear. I was going to wear them with my Flannery Platform Peep-Toes but he said they were too “flashy” for the crowd we would be in and I had to agree with him. I opted instead for some small wedge Cole Haan’s which were perfect since I stood most of the evening.

Here’s my dinner outfit from the night before. Notice the sweater color? And I did wear my Flannery’s that night.

Anyone done shopping yet? I am almost done. Just a few little gift cards to get and another present for Husband. He’s trying to spoil his Christmas so I’m looking for something he’s not expecting. He figured out on Amazon that he can look at what was purchased from his wish list. He doesn’t know who bought what but just like a kid to “shake the box” and “inspect the packages”.

Have a great evening!
