The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today for everyone! Woo Hoo! I shopped on the first day and have been adding to my cart since then for other items I didn’t find in-store. I stopped by the store again Wednesday and overheard a sales person in shoes state they would be getting more sizes and stock in on Friday. So items that may have sold out during Early Access could be getting a replenish today.

~ philosphy Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion ~

This is the one item I get every single year. It’s my favorite lotion and I’m always complimented on how nice I smell. The large, 32 oz bottle lasts me about 6 months. I usually get one for Christmas each year as well. I use the smaller bottle for refilling my travel size. There’s also the shampoo/shower gel/bubble bath in the same scent, Amazing Grace. Pure Grace is another scent but Amazing Grace is my favorite.

 ~Onitsuka Tiger Alvarado Sneakers ~

I bought a pair of the Rotation 77 (similar) last year during the sale for The Boy and he loved them. The Alvarado’s are a true sneaker and he went up a half size. The retro-looking Serrano sneaker is also on sale.

~ kate spade Spencer Court Large Monday Leather Envelope Crossbody Bag ~

I have been using my Tory Burch Marion Cross-body bag daily (similar) so I wanted to find a new one in a Fall color. I went looking for this cross-body bag but never got to that section of the store. This Kate Spade Cross-body Bag was so beautiful in-person I completely forgot about the Sole Society bag.

#NSale Kate Spade Spencer

This color is Mahogany and also comes in Dusty Peony, a pretty pink. There’s also a suede and leather version where the flap is suede and comes in Black and Mousse Frosting.

#NSale Kate Spade Spencer 2

I love that Kate Spade bags have a printed lining that matches the bag and is not the same solid color of the bag. That’s where I end up losing sight of things I know I have in my bag. Particularly if the lining is dark.

#NSale Kate Spade Spencer 4

The width is a little slim but this cross-body can still fit my cell, small card holder, powder, lipstick, keys and sunglasses but that’s about it. That is everything I carry around with me on a daily basis.

Happy Shopping!

On my birthday I tried on a few dresses at Anthropologie. I never thought one of them would become my birthday dress.

~ HD in Paris South Island Dress, Blue / Orange, size 8/6 ~

I really liked the simple style of this dress and grabbed two colors in two different sizes to try on. The blue is a size 8 and fits well. The straps were a little loose and I felt that though it gave me a nice shape it could be a little more fitted.

SouthIslandDress_Blue

The orange is a size 6 and fits a little closer to the body. The straps are still a little loose so I think I’d still need a small alteration at the shoulders. The length on both hit just at the knee, with no telling difference between the two sizes. I love the pleated flouncy skirt. It’s great for twirling. I felt comfortable in both sizes and would probably choose the orange print over the blue, though both are equally pretty IRL.

~ Maeve Cirque Swing Dress, Small ~

I was in love with this dress the moment I saw it in-store. It sold out quickly and my store had this lone Small on a rack with other “last one” items. Maeve sizing is all over the place for me so I thought I’d give this dress a try. This was a great size for me and I thought the dress fit really well. The chest was not pulling or tight. The length is just above the knee. I do think it’s too voluminous for me though I really liked the print and the cotton lining.

~ HD in Paris Paleta Shirt Dress, size 8 ~

This was another dress I had been eyeing for a while. It also was sold out in my store except for this one size 8. The fit is fantastic and though some reviewers didn’t like that the belt was permanent, I preferred it. I love the little popsicle print all over, though once Husband saw the print he immediately nixed the dress. The Linen Printemps Shirt Dress is exactly the same dress, though in solid.

~ Plenty by Tracy Reese Tybee Shift, Medium ~

I really liked the fit of this dress and the slight shape at the waist. I do wish the shoelace tie at the neckline wasn’t there. It’s the only thing that stopped me from buying it. I would have preferred something more like the Lin Lace Dress neckline. The print is fun and Summery. The Cantania Dress is the same print but with a halter neck and fit-and-flare style.

~ Eva Franco Plaid Halter Dress, size 8 ~

I liked the print and colors of this dress on the hanger and brought it to the fitting room to try on. I really wasn’t thinking of buying it but it fit really well. It’s a linen-blend with a fit-and-flare silhouette and halter neckline. The hemline hit’s just below the knee. Husband really loved this dress, over all the ones I tried on so it’s the one I bought and wore for my birthday. I stayed cool all evening, even in the high 90 degree temps. I really loved it and cannot wait to wear it again this weekend. The Plaid Halter Dress is now on sale.

What do you think of these? Have you shopped for dresses at Anthropologie lately?

On my birthday a few weeks ago, the Tag Sale items got “even better” with an additional 30% off sale items. Sadly, that promo ended yesterday. I did spend the morning of my birthday in-store, shopping for sale items from my wishlist. Unfortunately, I only ended up getting one sale item, the Herringbone Napkins. A lot of what I wanted was not available in my store.

Most of my purchases that day were full-price items, but I did have my birthday discount to use. We are in the process of painting again, this time in the hallway and kitchen. I want to use teal and aqua colors wherever possible in the kitchen and dining and the colors of both the Sibylla Spoon Rest and Puglia Tablecloth are what I’m looking for. Though the spoon rest is on back-order until August I was able to find it in-store, as well as the Puglia Napkins. And I preferred those over the tablecloth since I found a similar one at TJ Maxx that day.

I like the colors of the cheese board and it goes with my Molly Hatch items, like this measuring cup. I also tried on a few dresses, one of which was my birthday dress, and I’ll share some fitting room pics with you tomorrow.

Tory Burch is having a semi-annual sale and you can take 30% off sale items with code EXTRA30. This promo ends July 11.

~ Bridget Dress, Medium ~

This dress had me imagining a vacation to Greece. The Medium fit well and the neckline and hem are beautifully embroidered. I ended up passing on this dress to get the one below but I may have to go back to the store and buy this.

~ Gigi Shirtdress, Hudson Blue Linosa, (Lemon Curd) size 6 ~

I found this dress in-store, while the Lemon Curd is still available online. It’s really cute and perfect for the upcoming 4th of July holiday since it’s red, white and blue. It’s 100% Silk and unlined and has pockets. I was swimming in the size 8 so this does run Large. I tend to be more of a Medium/8 in Tory Burch and rarely size down.

~ Miller Sandals, Dulce de Leche, size 7 ~

I have been wearing my Miller Sandals in Brown Snakeskin almost daily. I love that they dress up any outfit. The Dulce de Leche are also called White but they are really a very pretty cream color. The difference between these and my snakeskin sandals is the double-T logo. On this sandal it’s hard and metal on top with very little give. There is no metal double-T logo on the brown sandal. These do run TTS.

I would suggest calling a store because I know there are items in the store that are no longer online. They can then try to find what you want in another store. This promo is not valid at the Tory Burch outlet.

Are you shopping this Tory Burch EXTRA30 promo?

Wow. I expected J.Crew to finish strong with a percent-off-total-purchase promo. Instead they stuck with the sale promo that’s been around for weeks/months. They didn’t even try to make it special by putting making all sale items and additional 50% off, like the stores are doing, though it is Final Sale in-stores. I did receive an email that stores are giving out mystery scratch-off cards, through Sunday.

~ Carrie Dress in Stripe, Brilliant Sunflower, size 8 ~

This is reminiscent of the Striped Blouson Dress from a few Summers ago, though in the Carrie Cami style this time. It’s a midi-style so I could maybe size to a Petite to make it a little shorter and/or wear strappy heeled sandals with it. I liked the fit of it and it does certainly look better with the top a little blousy over the elastic waist compared to pulled down straight. The yellow is a pretty color though I would prefer a few other options, like a green or red stripe. The outer is silk and it’s lined in poly so not very Summer friendly for South Texas.

~ Short-Sleeve Chambray Shirtdress, Small ~

When I saw this in the roll-out last week I knew I wanted it. I am living in these dresses right now and though it would be a perfect addition to my growing collection of easy-to-wear shirtdresses. The Small fits well, so size down one. The chambray is soft, not stiff. And I ended up not getting this at the time, in favor of the next dress

~ Off-the-Shoulder Dress in Ratti Into the Wild Print, size 6 ~

I was not expecting to like this print or this dress so much. When I saw the print online I thought it was way to busy, but the various greens just pop. There’s a toucan and butterflies in the print along with bright colored flowers. The size 6 fit me well and though I was a bit hesitant to get another off-the-shoulder item, I knew I would wear it a lot this Summer. I’ve already worn it once and received so many compliments on it. The tan I have helps those colors pop, I think.

I’m not sure if I’ll venture in the store this weekend to pick up one of those scratch-offs. Will you?
