J Crew: Drawstring Pant in Cove Floral, Linen Drapey Drawstring Pant, Café Trouser in Herringbone Linen, Tap Short in Photo Floral, Surf Skirt in Cove Floral

I just love the Drawstring Pant in Cove Floral. I wasn’t too fond of it online but my VPS added it to my room. They are super comfortable in what feels like a silky cotton, almost like PJs, and look how cute they are with the Seville Wedge Espadrille in Citrus Lime. I have on a size 6, a perfect fit.

I originally considered trying to find a Linen pant for Summer but then realized I never wore any of the others I had over the years. The Linen Drapey Drawstring Pant is certainly a pair that would make me try one last time. I like the Navy over all the other colors. They are easy to slip-on and have enough room for a large meal. I would have to get them hemmed as the pair I tried on are pretty long. The website says the inseam is 27 inches so they should fit like the Cove Floral above. Not sure where the disconnect is but CWFS probably just did a copy/paste of descriptions.

The Bristol Trouser in Herringbone Linen looks to be available for pre-order but my store had this color available. I am wearing the size 6 which is a good fit. I wouldn’t size up. These would definitely need to be hemmed and if I wore linen pants in the Summer I would get these; one day, I suppose.

I really liked the Tap Short in Photo Floral but had a little difficulty with the zipper in the back. There was no hook that I could find and the zipper kind of felt like it might un-zip at any time, especially if I sat down. I’d probably try another size 8 just to make sure the zipper stayed up and did it’s job.
Though the Surf Skirt in Cove Floral is cute, it is definitely not practical for hot Summers like mine. Unless I wanted to dress up to go surfing? The online model does this skirt no justice. She looks sloppy with her half-tuck and slouched shoulders, especially in flat shoes. They might as well have just photographed this skirt on a hanger.
I made a dress out of it with the Sleeveless Drapey Top in Cove Floral and the Seville Wedge Espadrilles. I’m wearing the size 8 but the size 6 fit about the same. I was hoping the size 6 would fit a little better in the hip area of this skirt.

So, what do you think of these pants, short and skirt?

Those shorts are cute but I'm with you, I wish they'd just do the standard front hook and zip closure like they do with the chino shorts.

The shorts are super cute, but the placement of the floral..ahem..bushes doesn't do it for me. Love the hook up!

Love the skirt and drapey top on you. It looks really flattering. Did you get to see the dress? Now that I saw how you paired both skirt and top together with the different textures, I am reconsidering ordering the dress and getting the top and skirt instead, what do you think?

Rosa – My store did not receive the dress. Not sure if they will. I prefer the two separates for a few reasons. 1) They are separates and can be worn apart. 2) The dress, for me anyway, would be way to hot in that same material, Poly neoprene, for South Texas. 3) I wear more skirts than dresses.

It will depend on your preference. If you think you'll be able to wear both as separates too then get the two. But if you like the shape of the dress, then get that. The Sleeveless top is not fitted so the shape of the two together will look different than the dress. I hope that helps!!

Those Bristol trousers are a great style of pant for you, definitely consider those if you get some linen pants!!
I went to the store this weekend and tried on the several of the cove floral items (pants, skirt, dress) and out of all of those, I loved the dress which surprised me. I ordered the pants and are waiting for them to arrive but I might return them. I didn't realize they were completely cotton and they feel really thin and I'm not sure the length is right for me.

Love how you made a dress out of the the top and skirt!

Thanks for trying on so much stuff for us. I have to wonder now about the drapey pant. I'm excited about more tall options, but now I'm beginning to wonder if linen and the drapey part are a good combination. The wrinkles plus the lack of structure make me worry that by the end of the day my bottom half is gonna look like a wrinkled mess. Love the color of the Bristol trousers. What color is that anyhow?

Hi Audrey, thanks for reviewing the drawstring Pant in Cove Floral. They look great on you with the shoes. May I ask is the pant run big/small/TTS? Online review says it runs small. I usually wear size 00 in Jcrew pant, battling between 00 or 0 to order?

On another note, it seems this pant does not take any promotion. Is it true?

    Thanks in advance.

Elaine – For me they ran TTS. I was actually expecting them to run small but I took a 6 instead of an 8 in them. Maybe it depends on the fit in the hips area.
