Shoes-day: J Crew Factory Sylvia Patent Leather Wedges

J Crew Factory has been rockin’ it with their offerings this year. So much that I am trying to figure out what current retail items to not buy now in hopes that they come to the Factory in a season or two.

The Sylvia Patent Leather Wedges in Cabernet have been eluding me in-store so I finally ordered them during one of the many amazing Factory promos. The retail Martina sister are surprisingly nice. I was expecting more of a plastic-y feel to the patent. I’ve tried the Paulina Pump (sister to the Mona) in-store and they did feel plastic. Those have a Patent Polyurethane Upper. The Sylvia are a bit stiff compared to the retail version but still a great shoe.

I ordered my normal size 7 and though there is a tiny, maybe 1/4-inch, gap at the heel they fit TTS.

The Cabernet color is beautiful and will pair well with my Factory Skinny Jean in Gray. I haven’t had the opportunity to wear them yet so I will have to report back on the actual comfort of them for more than a 5-minute try-on.

Have you had any experience with the Factory Sylvia Wedge or any other Factory shoes?

The shoes look lovely, love the color. I struggle with patent. I have found that if you rub lotion inside, but them on and wear until lotion is dried, they loosen up a bit, form to your foot and feel better plus you get a bit of a pedicure.

Blue Booby – Thanks for the tip. I do need a pedi. 😉

I actually have those in both the black and nude (at the rec of Franish) and found them to be super comfy right off the bat. I got my normal JC shoe size and there was a bit of a gap in the back too, but I added an insole for extra comfort and they fit perfect. They are my go-to shoe for when I have to attend a trade show and be on my feet all day, plus since they aren't real materials and I got them for a deal, I feel like I can be less delicate with them, haha.

Lisa – Thanks for chiming in about the comfort. That makes it easier to make that decision on keeping them.

Oh, and Pam, we went to Southtown on Sunday. Had brunch at Liberty Bar and saw the photos you had on your blog post.

I ordered them, but I found them to be incredibly uncomfortable. I have a low tolerance for patent leather anyway, but the pair I got were stiff as could be. They do look cute on you.

Denée – Yes, I agree that they are stiff. I hope with Blue Booby's tip I can make them work. They were a great deal and a color I am missing from my closet. Thanks for chiming in.

That color is stunning. I love a comfy wedge!
Have you seen/tried the Madewell Mira heel. They are high, but comfortable enough for the office or "car to bar" shoes and priced well with the current promo. I bought the sandstone as I love the look of a nude shoe and think this pair will alternate with a lower heel that I'm trying to make last for a few more years.

I love the color! Wedges are perfect for work and so comfy. I haven't bought any shoes yet from the Factory, but I'll have to check these out.
