Shoes and Skunks

During this last amazing 25/30% off run at J Crew I ordered both the Collection Shoe Sketch Skirt and the Collection Little Skunks Skirt
Oh be still my heart, you little skunks. ‘Twas love at first sight with this skirt. How adorable are these guys? I ordered a Petite 8 to shorten the length 2 inches and am very pleased with that decision. The silk is flowy and soft and though the color states Violet Dust, it is more pink. It’s perfect. I was afraid the pleating would widen me some but I think
with a thinner shirt (and a few lost pounds) it will be more than perfect.

Now, on the other hand, oh-hobby-of-mine-on-a-skirt, I wasn’t as pleased right out of the package with the Shoe Sketch skirt. The crepe de chine silk feels a little poly-ish. I ordered a size 8 and while the length needs to be shortened at least 2-3 inches (currently it’s 24 inches and more midi), the waist is good. The gathers at the waistband make my hips more hippy. And while Gigi says the print isn’t very strong, I agree but think it’s too busy. Maybe more spaced out like the skunks. I’m on the fence with this right now and would definitely hem it if I kept it. I pulled it up to the length I want and it looked good, but I don’t know how that and a few less pounds will affect the look at the waist. I have the scarf in this print which is now snagged to death so the skirt is not a must keep, just a currently pondering.

What do you think about these two skirts? Sketchy and skunky? Or adorable and perfect?

I agree- the skunk skirt is a flattering fit for you, and the colors are more unusual, but still very wearable. The shoe skirt is cute- but I am sure it would be costly to hem.

YES! Keep the skunk skirt! It looks adorable on you. I've been pondering it since I saw it, but now it shall be mine.

    You look great. 🙂

I love the shoe sketch scarf even though it snags easy.

The skunk skirt is adorable on you!

Okay – I did NOT think I would like the skunk skirt, but darn it, it is cute and looks awesome on you! I think I feel the same about the shoe skirt as you do – it looks good but doesn't fit as fabulously as the skunk skirt!

    Hi Audreybella,
Thanks for the reviews. I was considering the shoe print skirt but you're right-its so busy! Do you recall how much the skunk skirt came out to be for you? It's final sale now and I'm wondering if I should wait for additional 30% off the current sale price of $139.99 which would bring it under $100. (Darn-after I swore a shopping ban for this month!) ah!!

Cuckoo – I paid 30% off the full price. I will try to re-order if it's still available with a promo of 25 or 30% off.

Audreybella, the skunks look incredible! Totally beyond love. FWIW, I think both skirts look great on you–if the shoes are a little less flattering it's likely just that dull white color blending in with the wall.

Any clues on sizing the skunk skirt? (For instance in comparison to the Flair or Sterling skirts?) I'm contemplating a blind final sale purchase, but alas I'm a new reader. Would you say it's tts, /do you usually wear J.Crew skirts at hips or natural waist, etc.?
    Thank you!

I went with the Petite sizing for both the Skunk Skirt and the Flair Skirts only for the shorter length, 8 Petite for all of them. When I originally tried the Flair in a 6 it fit weird and was too long. The 8 was too big in the waist. Right now all of the skirts (Skunk and Flair) are sitting at my waist. Depending on the style of skirt will determine hip or waist placement, for me. I'd also suggest using the Chat feature to get the measurements for the Skunk skirt to help your decision. HTH!
