J Crew February 2012 Catalog

Here are just a few images, expanded from the posts by Slastena and Alexis, from the February catalog. This is not the whole catalog but just some items that intrigued me. I have no idea when any of these items will be showing up in-store or online.

Yay! Thanks Audreybella for posting. I see many things I like 🙂

Thanks for posting – I'm in big trouble – I'm in South Florida and these are my colors :)))

    • January 22, 2012 / 12:31 am

Oh I agree! I'm in SW FL and we're looking at 80 degrees all week! I usually sit out late fall and winter releases….I was in shorts on Christmas Day. 🙂 Bring on the bright cheery colors!

Did you get the catalog at a store? If so, perhaps some of this will be out on Monday, b/c I was in our store and they said "Come in on Monday when we'll have more Spring roll outs!
My PS also keeps mentioning Jan. 26th as a roll out date. Received the Spring Look Book yesterday…so these items should start trickling in sometime soon, I imagine. Love the colors and patterns! But alas, our first try wintry days just arrived and I'm wearing all the thick sweaters and coats now! Finally! ;D

I did Suzy. I know there are some new arrivals coming this week because my PS has an event on Wednesday or Thursday. I didn't get the lookbook but saw it in the store a week or two ago. I have a feeling we are going to have a pretty mild winter so I'm happy to see the Spring looks already.

Thanks for posting. Can't wait to see IRL.

  7. January 22, 2012 / 12:24 am

Oh, wowza. Beautiful. Thank you for these. I am literally having a throbbing heart over the shirt/skirt combo, so beautiful…I may have to place a pre-order with my ps for those. GORG. But I will wait until Tuesday, just in case they are at my local store (I have a return to make that day, so if those are in the shop, I can just take care of it that day).

The liberty print tops are darling, but (gasp!) I have those prints already and from J. Crew. They are being derivative.

Speaking of derivative, that fan print dress is a familiar print, I think they have done that one before.

The shoes have me salivating, but don't know if those are worth pre-ordering. Huh. 🙂

I hope the skirt is in store. I'd love to see it IRL. I wasn't sure if the Liberty prints were new or not but I knew you were the "expert" on Liberty. The fan print is also a jacket and I think some shorts. Surprised they didn't show up in the catalog as a ballet flat. As far as the shoes, I want to try on the Dreamweaver in the Mona or Flat. It looks like they may leave a "weave" imprint on your skin since there doesn't seem to be a lining. I wonder if it will feel straw-like?

I responded to Kitsmommy down below. $150 for those shirts is really really high, especially since they sold for $110 a few years back. Yes, exquisite cotton is getting more expensive, but by dollars a yard, not many dollars a yard, so the $40 jump is kind of crazy.

  8. January 22, 2012 / 2:46 am

Oh I love the Fanfare print and the Lillian dress! The Fresco Floral Sateen cafe capris are also beautiful but the price point, ouch!

  9. January 22, 2012 / 3:10 am

Thanks so much for sharing the catalog pictures Audrey! I love the crinkle chiffon skirt and ballet tee outfit and all those pretty shoes. 🙂

  10. January 22, 2012 / 5:15 am

The Lillian dress is beautiful! Also love all those colourful shoes!

  11. January 22, 2012 / 10:02 am

Thanks for sharing! The shoes are beautiful.

Audrey – have you ever tried the Jules dress? We are about the same build and size and I am curious what it fits like?

Thanks for posting these – they are gorgeous!

    • January 22, 2012 / 3:24 pm

WMM-I have tried the Jules Dress and own it in the Wildcat. I prefer the size 8 due to the arms being a little light on me but the body of the 6 is a much better fit. I love the dress, although many say it's shapeless and boxy and can't wait to see/try it in the Fanfare print.

You can see three different prints/colors and two sizes on me here.

Thanks for sharing these photos Audrey! I love the basketweave skirt and I'll have to try the blue fanfare as well. I do love the cotton pencils. I tried the ripplestitch sweater and it looked awful on me, very unflattering. I had to size down in other sweaters that I did buy on my recent store trip: cotton v-neck and space-dyed cardi. It seems many sweaters have a slouchy fit this season and it's going to be tricky for my figure. At least the skirts still seem to work!

    • January 22, 2012 / 3:18 pm

Did you get the basketweave skirt? I have yet to see it in-store and can't find a need for it in my closet, yet.

    • January 22, 2012 / 6:48 pm

Hi Audrey, I did buy the basketweave skirt in blue at the Miami Collection store on Friday. They had both the blue and the green. In the past some of the resort issue pencil skirts have sold out fairly quickly so I wanted to make sure I got this one in the right size on the first attempt. I would have lovd it on promo but it's a deal just to get it for the U.S. price and no shipping. :^D

Me again. If it's not too much trouble can you post the fabric content of the candy tweed skirt. Fingers crossed it is not acrylic.

I just noticed the fish-scale sequin skirt with the ripple-stitch sweater. I have been looking for something like this since I saw Louise @ Cosmetic Bee wearing her beautiful black skirt. The pink looks lovely but the price, ouch.

    • January 22, 2012 / 3:17 pm

I made a mistake. It's called the Confetti Tweed Skirt. It doesn't have any information on it in the Catalog. There is also a jacket in the same tweed that is Viscose/Cotton/Silk. Not sure if the skirt will be a Spring or Summer option or an option at all.

    • January 22, 2012 / 6:51 pm

Thank you for the details on the skirt/jacket. I may have to ask my PS to look at it or wait for the blogger reviews to determine whether the fabric is suitable. I'll watch for the jacket in the new arrivals on Thursday too.

  15. January 22, 2012 / 3:38 pm

Very excited about some of these pieces, especially that Jules dress…

  16. January 22, 2012 / 4:01 pm

Audrey – thanks for the link – I think the Jules looks great on you! I am admiring it in the fan pattern, so may bite!

I am still waiting on a % off sale on the new arrivals!

  17. January 22, 2012 / 6:02 pm

Loving the shirts and one skirt. Thanks for posting this:)

  18. January 22, 2012 / 6:57 pm

Thanks for sharing all the images Audreybella! I'm looking forward to seeing all the new arrivals online soon. 🙂

  19. January 22, 2012 / 8:57 pm

I have a couple of those Liberty prints, and don't really need more perfect shirts so I will pass on most of those. I need the heart print shirt, but the prices on everything may have me rethinking JC completely. $150 for a cotton shirt is a bit much even for Mason or Liberty.

    Thanks for the pictures!

    • January 23, 2012 / 12:12 am

I have to say unless you missed out on some incarnation of Liberty in the past or can't find your favorite on ebay, these prices are a bit nuts. Yes, the Liberty fabric has gone up to around $40 a yard, but come on now, $150 is sort of "huh?" I bet we see all of them come down in price, back down to what they would sell out at–around $75, which is far more reasonable, imo.

I LOVE the heart print shirt and skirt and even though I can't wear either until May, I will probably bite right away, they seem fairly special and worth the splurge. 🙂

  20. January 23, 2012 / 6:37 pm

Thanks for sharing, I just previewed some of these in store. The confetti tweed skirt looked very short, definitively more of a mini than a pencil. The heart shirt is out and it is lovely but I think I am going to get the umbrella (they didn't have the skirt). They had a perfect shirt in the fan print (they didn't have the Jules) which is beautiful and very summery (but I agree, a little bit of a deja vu) but the best are the cafe capris in morse jaquard (very classic and well mde, it is a real jaquard, not a printed one). Need to go back to see more.

    • January 23, 2012 / 8:53 pm

Thanks Ema. Will you be reviewing the Cafe Capris? I don't think my store will get them.

  21. January 24, 2012 / 3:43 am

I am going to try. They only had a size 10 on the floor today but it can't be that they are sold out already!
