J Crew Wynter Sweater in Sequin Stripe

Wynter Sweater in Sequin Stripe

Description from J Crew: Bold rugby stripes get doused in a twinkly mix of big and small sequins for that sporty-sparkly mix that’s a near obsession with our designers. Trimmed at the neck and cuffs in cozy rib, the hint of mohair only adds to its lofty feel (and body-skimming silhouette). Perfectly polished at the office—or the office party—it’s that day-to-night piece to shine in all season long. Acrylic/nylon/wool/mohair in a 5-gauge knit. Three-quarter sleeves. Hits at hip.

So, online the dark stripe looked more black than dark gray to me even though the color was “Carbon”. Even before taking this sweater out of the package I saw that it was gray gray…Disappointment #1. I tried it on and it runs small. This is a “body-skimming silhouette” as the description says. I have on my normal J Crew Medium. The sleeves are right at the wrist, and almost too short…Disappointment #2. As you can see, Disappointment #3 is the sheerness of the carbon stripe. I certainly wasn’t planning on wearing another shirt under this sweater. To wear this slouchy like the online pic I would have to size up two more sizes, to an XL. This is not a keeper and is going back.

See the sweater on Ema in the Clay Blue.

What do you think about this sweater?

I'm returning mine in the black/white today. It's too small and the color is blah on. I prefer the gray/pink one. I saw it in the store yesterday (sold out in my size) but my SA got a return in this morning so I'm exchanging my sweater later this evening. When I tried it on in the XL (too big) women in the store stared and went looking for that sweater-LOL (they only had 2 left xxs and xl)

I tried this on today. The grey/pink is more fun than the blk/creme, but not a winner for me either.
