J CREW Linen Swoon Skirt

All these bright colors this Spring/Summer are really appealing to me. I “swooned” (hee hee) over this skirt in the Casablanca Blue when I first saw it online. I kept it in my shopping cart for about a week before pulling the trigger. I had to see it IRL and couldn’t wait for my store to get this lovely blue.

It arrived Monday and I have to say I’m a little disappointed. I ordered the size 6 and am currently wearing it at my belly button, which is not good. I have no room and tucking in the tee I was wearing didn’t help with the breathing situation. Because I am wearing it so high on my waist it looks to be shorter on me than it really should be. I would have to size to an 8 for a better fit and length.

This has a back zip and the bow on the side is faux. There is pleating all around the waist but I don’t think it gives it any excess volume, especially if you’re a “hippy” girl like me.

The name is the “Linen Swoon Skirt” but this is not 100% linen. This is a linen/cotton blend and does feel more thick cotton-y than linen, IMO, almost like a twill.

I’m on the fence with this one. I need to try the 8 to be sure and possibly see it in the black as well.

i hate it when stores try to pass off linen blend as linen! nice color, though.

Nice color and the style of the skirt is cute!! I have struggled with linen for years…i am always drawn to it and ALWAYS regret it!!

This definitely runs small to me too, I ordered a size 2 and I would have needed a 6 to wear it comfortably I am sure. I loved the color but wasn't a fan of the fabric so I returned instead of reording a different size.

I love the bow, of course. Is the blue that bright? It looks darker on the website.

The sizing is concerning to me. Sometimes when I size up to fit the waist, I end up with so much fabric on the skirt itself, it looses the real shape. I just love the color of the skirt though. What a bummer!!!

You sure have an eye for color, this blue is gorgeous! The fit does look like something could be improved Possibly sizing up would help it look a bit more relaxed. Let us know if you SU and if it works.

dinster – It really was disappointing when I first saw it.

Pam – Me too. I've tried to stay away from linen skirts/shorts/pants just because they wrinkle so easy.

Summerilla – Sizing up two sizes is not good. I did return mine as well.

gigi – It's not super bright. I tried to get the true color without flash but it didn't come out.

Pamela – That's what happened in this case for me. I sized up and looked wider from the front.

xoxo – Thanks. Sizing up didn't help. A new post to follow with the 8 today.

I had the same problem with the waist. I went up one size than normal and it still didn't help.
